The Trump Presidency | Biden Inaugurated

It exonerates Trump. Combined what Pelosi has already said, we should forget any "Russian" angle, it will now be a stupid strategy by the Dems.

Dems should focus on policy, on what they have to offer to the average American citizen, not just blame Trump. People know what Trump is, and if they prefer the clown from the Dems, this says a lot for the Dems, too.

It quite literally does not. And I'm using "literally" correctly here.

Yes, I have actually read it. In legalese it does not exonerate him (literally!). In politics, and in real life, it exonerates him 100%. Nobody will move against Trump now, it would be very stupid to do so.

The SDNY investigation has nothing to do with this and will continue, as will the State of NY investigation.

I hope they don't.

Any move against Trump by Dems in the next 2 years will just strengthen his followers, and give him more ammunition. It is really pointless now.

Those investigations are completely independent of this one. Just because Mueller didn't have enough to prove a conspiracy with the Russians doesn't mean other crimes weren't committed elsewhere. It's the government's job to follow up on alleged crimes, irrespective of whether anyone wants or doesn't want them to for political reasons.

Just going to say it would be foolish not to prosecute him for any crimes that he may have committed and then I remembered that you can’t indict a sitting president. Damn it...you can’t even interview a sitting president to investigate crimes. What an utter foolish rule that is!

The SDNY investigation has been viewed as more likely to directly show criminal acts by Donald for some time now.

These results should surprise no one.

Do you really believe that a State will indict a sitting president? Do you think that this has even 1% possibility in real life?

It's a bit like saying OJ is innocent and will never go to jail because the original murder charges weren't enough to convict. Other things he did in other jurisdictions which had nothing to do with his murder trial however later landed him in jail.

On Trump, if you mean the state of NY, I don't know if they would indict him or not since we don't know specifically what they are looking at. We do know that he doesn't have pardon power at the state level. Moreover the SDNY (which is federal, not state) have a much broader case against Trump than Mueller did. 40 years of Trump Org. activity is significantly more perilous than 1 year or two years of campaigning.

Not legalese, those are the literal words. Literally. And they make up some of the very, very few words that Barr directly quoted from Mueller.

“While this report does not conclude that the President committed a crime, it also does not exonerate him,”

Can't even read it well.
So he's not exonerated from a crime they can't actually prove happened?
Well worth the millions that's been wasted. Can't we just plant drugs on him or something?

OJ is just an individual. An individual, no matter how popular, is just an individual, POTUS is something very different.

The Trump organization has been around for 40 years as you say, and you hope that the NY will indict *now* that Trump is the president, and we are facing the 2020 elections? Not going to happen. They should have indicted him in 2015 or something. If there are crimes going back decades ago, they are incompetent morons if they waited that long to indict. It is over now, he has the get out of jail free card now.

The Dems have to beat him in the elections, the courts are not going to do it.

The Dems should forget the Russians, the Trump organization, the crimes, the twits, the bullsh1t ... and focus on the one and only one thing that matters:

What has the current president really done for the average american citizen, and what are the democrats going to do for the average american citizen.

I'm not "hoping" for anything. The rule of law however will not suspend itself because a group of internet people are sad and deflated because another case didn't go their way. The feds are by statute obligated to pursue potential violations of the law so these cases will continue for years.

True. Unfortunately, if the rule of law was sleeping for 40 years, then it will sleep another 2 years (or 6 ... hopefully not!).

Not investigating questionable actions because it might look bad is a weird take to have.

No obstruction? Yeah right.
Regarding collusion, that was always a very long shot. I think nobody truly believed there were formal meetings between Trump officials and Russian officials to lay down a strategy of how to bring Trump to power.
But of course those weren't needed, Russian trolls assist Trump's cause also without formal alliance.

The curvy couch gang on might be a hoot in a couple of minutes. The failed-at-sports guy, the weatherman, & the news actress are probably foaming at the mouth, pulling hard on the bit to lavish praise on Trump.

This x10000. It's really simple. Trump is a terrible president, with terrible policies, who has made the US a worse place for all but a tiny fraction of the population.

Run on that.

Part of me expected it all to end up being a damp squib but still can’t help but feel even more disillusioned.

If he wins again in 2020 (which I fear he will unfortunately) then I feel the American project is well and truly dead.

Shock Horror, Mueller report does nothing to Trump. However, I still feel that the noise around the issue was a good distraction for this administration otherwise they would have done even worse things.

I am not quite sure that makes sense? Didn't they do worse things whenever the public was distracted by scandals like the Russia investigation? How could they have done worse without the distraction of the investigation? I mean horrible things are already happening?

This basically means he'll win 2020 running off the whole "i told you so" narrative, rile up the base and the undecideds will be like "weeellllll i do get 20c more in my paycheque each week so he must be doing something right and he isnt a criminal"
