I find it sinisterly brilliant how Trump, whoever his puppet master may be, has crippled the Democrats and insured himself with this shutdown.
From the robustness of his approval ratings, from the way his defenders on Fox news and twitter vociferously gobble up his lies, from the astonishing immunity with which he's survived every single scandal - it is quite apparent that all of the Democrats' planned moves against him once they had the House have been crippled. You can't subpoena his tax returns right now, you can't bring notice to your own legislation, you can't build towards a 2020 campaign - everything will look like a political move until the Shutdown is over. Trump had made his move, and now he's stopped the Democrats from making theirs. That is the brilliance of this shutdown, it brings the 'blue wave' to a slow stagnation.
I bet that once enough damage has been done, the White House will be the first to blink, and look the nobler end of the bargain. If they could win a campaign by a pussy grabber on the back of 'Hillsry's emails', they can win another with a Democrat-shutdown-that-Trump-saved-us-from.
His base, like always, has already made up its mind. They just needed a reason to convince themselves of it.

Yeah except his bullshit only works on his base. He still needed many swing voters in 2016 to win and he’s no doubt pissed off many of them. 2020 will see such a surge in votes against him as we’ve already seen in 2018.

I've been reading this thread ever since he was the nominee, it's like my dose of reality TV. Scandal after scandal has been called out, his blunders been laughed at, his despicable actions have been criticised to death. Every single time there are posters who've claimed that the straw will finally break the camel's back. That he will be indicted, impeached, asked to resign, what not.
Nothing ever happens, and quite frankly as an outsider, I don't see nothing ever happening before his term gets over.

Sad thing is I know the offices of Pelsoi and Shumer are filled with naive people saying "but but 53% of those polled blame Trump! We are winning!" without even realizing how they have been outmaneuvered here because the shutdown simply benefits Trump and GOP more than the Dems and the longer it goes on with the media just repeating his phrases of Wall, border security, shutdown the more it benefits the GOP base.
Trump doesn't even have to play 3D chess let alone 4D because these keystone copper Democrats still can't chew gum and walk at the same time.

Most people, and an increasing number in his base too it would seem, blame him for the shutdown, and rightly so because he had two fecking years of house majority to get funds for his stupid wall and now suddenly after the house flipped its become a pressing issue. His base lapped up his racist propaganda during the campaign and then it did them no real harm voting for him. Not getting paid though has very real and very harsh consequences on their lives, and while it will only galvanize his most braindead supporters, the ones with even a modicum of understanding will see it is his fault.
The same goes for his stupid trade war with everyone. As people start losing their livelihood, they eventually have to realize he is the one to blame and completely unfit to rule

I'm saying they timed the questioning to the story, not that buzzfeed is their source of info.
You can see Barr's mind ticking over. Some of those pauses seems pretty indicative of a person trying to figure out why this line of questioning is continuing.
Nah. People have been saying this for years now, and it's never made sense. If this really is some kind of masterplan from Trump, then it's a pretty shit one considering his approval rating is low and getting lower. In this case the simplest answer is probably true: Trump isn't a genius.
There's also the fact that he frequently makes mistakes and then quickly deletes and tweets again with the proper spelling. Most of the time it's not reported on, and hasn't had time to be reported on. He really isn't doing it on purpose, he's just an idiot.
