"I never expected a leopard to eat MY face," says woman who voted for Leopards-Eating-People's-Faces Party.

It's horrible and I actually do get why some people thought that Trump was going to be good for them. The ones who worry me most are the ones who still believe it - sometimes even as their own job or healthcare vanishes.

They will still be persuaded to blame somebody else for their problems.

Trump-loving Ohio autoworkers feel betrayed after GM plant closes: ‘We’ve seen nothing but job losses’

A guy who has failed multiple times his whole life, and now makes most of his money defrauding real estate investors, 2nd rate property management and tax payers, was expected to return a very complicated industry in a global market back to its perceived former glory. feck off people.
If any of these trump voters bothered to look into the reality of this guy instead of the fake one they watched on reality TV they wouldn't buy a fecking thing from him. No sympathy what so ever.

Reminds me of this:

Oh feck off. Voting Hillary wasnt going to save their jobs either. Hillary doesnt give a shit about people in rust belt states.
Not you again. I didn't mention Hillary once so why don't you feck off for you're daily Clinton hate wank.

This is always an interesting analysis, and I remember thinking similar back when I was 16 and did an exchange semester in MS (close to Tupelo, where the don was the other night). I was already agnostic/leaning to atheism back then, more interested in making fun of the church than anything else. But I'd been educated in a catholic school up to then, so I was at least aware of what they tried to teach us in religion class. The few times I was forced to go to church in MS (non-catholic) I noticed how little of the new testament came up, compared to my school and churches back in Brazil where the gospels were by far the most quoted.

There is supposed to be an Evangelical movement (partly US funded) spreading rapidly through Brazil, which apparently played a role on the very strong support for Bolsonaro. Is it a change from your time?

I definitely noticed it growing through my teen years and early 20s. Rio - where I grew up - is sort of ground zero for the whole thing.

Naturally they have some connection to US evangelicals, but I'd downplay the significance. They're an absolutely massive money-making (scamming?) operation on their own, which has branched out into media and politics, so had some influence in voter tendencies. But just for context, the evangelicals had aligned with Lula and the Workers Party in prior presidential elections. They have more direct candidates in local, state govt & national legislative.

They're also not as culturally conservative as US evangelicals, imo. Probably because the wider avg of Brazilian society is more liberal than the US in several aspects, imo at least. Or it could be just that they're not a large majority in a single geographic area like the Southern US. Them being big in Rio is like a large evangelical presence somewhere like Los Angeles. The rest of the society pulls strongly the other way.

All of these coastal libs can never wrap their heads around why poor people and working class people dont just vote 100% democrat. The reasons are 1) Democrats barely do anything to make their lives better and sometimes make their lives worse 2) the utter contempt that you people have for anyone who hasnt seen Hamilton, had an unpaid internship or shopped at Whole Foods.

You said you had no sympathy for these people because they voted wrong. The obvious implication is that they should have voted for Hillary.
Or voted someone else in the primary, voted for someone other then the dem/rep in the presidential or just leave it blank and vote no one. You always jump to you're Hillary obsession, it's starting to get tired. I see you are getting stiff over another woman senator from NY even though she would turn her back in a fecking heartbeat on the policies you scream and shout about on here. A younger Hillary Clinton without the steel from being married to a philandering scumbag like Bill.

What about the utter contempt you have for other people who don't bow down to whatever YOU want or believe. This is a fecking bullshit post and the height of hypocrisy.

Trump promised them something. Hillary promised them absolutely nothing. She didn't even acknowledge that they existed. When you run on "America is already great" you're telling everyone in post industrial opioid infested middle America to drop dead. If you could get past your own biases for just a minute you could start to understand the desperation.

Maybe they should have concentrated on changing their states on a local level instead of letting the Republicans run rough shod over them and then blaming Obama and Clinton.

And here it is. Maybe the laid off factory workers in depressed towns with drug addicted children and no healthcare should have fixed the entire economy and political structure that rewards the mistreatment of human beings with ever more accumulation of capital.

It's their fault. Not the secretary of state, senator, first lady and presidential nominee. It's never her fault. Its always the voters.

It's good to have contempt for rich people. It's bad to have contempt for poor people. Really as simple as that.

So everyone living in the coastal cities is Rich? Wonder why San Francisco/Bay Area has the highest homeless population in the country then. And FYI given the fact that a lot of poor people do live in the coastal cities. Your contempt for the coastal population is actually also contempt on those poor people.

There is also enough desperation in every state in this country. What biases are you talking about?

I don't have contempt for the coastal population. I have contempt for rich people. I thought that was pretty clear in this post.

Are you fecking stupid. I just mentioned people pay attention to state elections and you are fecking harping on about secretary of state and 1st lady. feck off.

I'm talking about your inability to understand why people with entirely different circumstances than you might behave in different ways than you. You just keep shaking your fist and saying "no sympathy" to these people, safely ensconced in enough privilege to think a GOP governor is just fine.

Don't forget people who have seen Hamilton, had an internship and shop in a whole foods. You hate them too right?

Ok. If I am not mistaken Trump is a multi millionaire if not a billionaire. Where is the contempt for him? What about Ted Cruz and Mitt Romney? What About Hannity and Bill O Reilly? the irony in your posts is that as per you everything thats wrong is due to the dems. Alright, the gop was in complete power in these middle states for the longest time. What have they done to fix anything?

They voted for trump. feck them. You live with you're vote and decisions and don't blame other people. Is that what you've said in this thread a number of times. There are thousands of people and families in every state that have the same problems as people from the rust belt so stop being such a fecking idiot on that point.

I've had an internship. I was raised in a middle class household. I just dont think everyone who voted for trump is a bunch of rubes. Some of them made a bad decision which was understandable given the position they are in.

I've never seen you on here before so I will give you the benefit of the doubt. I hate the GOP much more than the Democrats. I have never and will never vote for an Republican. I'm constantly arguing on here that "there are no good Republicans".

Like I said, your utter contempt for these people shines through. I want all people to be free of dehumanizing, crushing poverty. You are fine with it, as long as it happens to the people who you think deserve it.
There you go again, jumping to conclusions about people on the internet who don't agree with you. That's right, I'm a robber baron who sneers at the wretched destitute through my monocle.
In none of my posts have I said I hate poor people or dehumanized anyone. You are having an angry episode right now where you are showing trump tendencies to make shit up. Maybe some of the countless homeless people who you have taken in to live with you could help you log off and relax with a cup of hobo tea.

Who is "you people"?

To be fair, California has a lot of homeless people because the weather is nice.
