I guess it depends on your view of how 'easy' it is to lower unemployment. In one sense, the GOP definitely deserve credit for getting that number to its lowest point in 50 years. But if the cost is $1 trillion in national debt, feels like that could have been even more effectively done by doing capital projects, rather than tax refunds.
As an economist, the only logical extrapolation of these tax cuts is a short term boost to capital markets and corporate profits, and a massive increase in national debt. Which is already very high. So soon - and unless this bull market manages to buck all historical trends it will be soon - things will look worse and programs will have to be cut, because no politician can push through tax increases.

Saw something online about Melania's choice of hat for that trip was akin to showing up at an Alabama cotton farm in a confederate uniform. Fortunately, I haven't noticed the networks picking up this non-story although it does make one wonder if this administration does this shit intentionally.
