The Trump Presidency | Biden Inaugurated

Well, the bull run was good while it lasted.

Genuine question: why is this President allowed to do this unilaterally? I don't believe the GOP - senate in particular - are anti free-trade. It's certainly not a conservative principle ffs!

Paul Ryan should be totally against this. I mean, if he wasn't so spineless that he struggles to sit so upright as to read.

I think the attitude of 'the timing is a bit suspect' needs some serious looking at because it's used to completely dismiss out of hand any accusation that pops up. Not having a go at you specifically, just the idea of it. It plays into the 'politics is a tribal, team game' ideology and just makes people more cynical and less likely to believe those that have been abused and in turn less likely for them to talk about what they've been through.

First of all, the accused is currently in the news, plastered everywhere far and wide so the accuser won't be able to escape it.

Secondly trauma does horrible things to a person's mind and how they handle it is completely and utterly different to everybody else on the planet. Some people are open straight away, some people bottle it up forever, some people hide it until it gets too much and eventually talk. Some people don't even recognise they've been abused and deny it in their own heads until eventually they're forced to confront it and pick it apart and realise that what happened was seriously not okay. Things might've been accepted in the past whereas they're definitely not now and people have to adapt to that change, abusers, accusers and everyone else. Imagine spending decades thinking something awful that had happened to you wasn't anything out of the ordinary and then you suddenly come to that realisation? The brain is a mental thing to try and understand.

Thirdly if they're struggling to talk, the thought of their abuser getting such a prominent upgrade in their life is powerful motivation to finally speak out about something that might've happened.

Fourthly we don't know what powers are at play in terms of how and why she hasn't spoken up before now. Who has something on her to stop her or doesn't, what Kavanaugh did after he did it.

I entirely understand the cynicism and sometimes things are set up to make people look bad but I'm much more inclined to give the benefit of the doubt to the accuser in cases like this and let her give a full account so the powers in charge have the full information available to them before they make a decision on something as powerful as a Supreme Court nominee. They should be as clean as a whistle even though human nature dictates that's not possible. It's the gold standard.
I tend to agree, and obviously no one should decide when a victim makes the decision to come forward. It's just this is a very big deal, and I don't want this particular example to be used in the future to derail others from coming forward and having their stories dismissed because of this one.

I'm hugely partisan against anything the joke that the GOP have become try to do, but I also believe that if you play dirty and weaponise something, you have to be ready for the bad guys to use it too. And the GOP are shameless, immoral and I genuinely believe evil in an existential way these days, so they'll abuse the absolute f*ck out of anything the soft democrats do. For example, I wouldn't bat an eye at a story about the GOP paying someone to pretend something happened in order to dismiss a democrat choice for Supreme Court in the future.

Think trade under the guise of national security falls under executive privilege.
What does this mean long term?
Remains to be seen. Think we'll have to wait for retaliatory tariffs from China. The fear is that further escalation could tip the markets in the other direction. Price rises for US consumers are likely and exporters will be squeezed. We are already seeing Pork and Soy bean farmers losing money and some going out of business.
My guess, is that the US trade courts will declare some of these tariffs illegal in a year or two. Trump might even remove them himself when it becomes politically uncomfortable or there might be a "deal".

Who is this melt? The woman has provided clinical notes from four years ago.

People basically said the same thing about Jeffrey Dahmer. He was a quiet guy, never seemed to be any trouble and there was only one living witness to his true nature.

This Erick Erickson prick was a never Trumper talking about how victims should be supported and it was against his family values when allegations against Trump surfaced. Now that abortion vote is within reach, all those family values goes up in smoke.

He does not care about anyone. Only himself.

He wants a rubber stamp in the Supreme Court.

he will try to get this creep in no matter the cost to the Republicans.

He knows Mueller has the goods on him. He needs cover.
Yeah, then blame the defeat on the GOP. "They didn't listen to me. SAD!".

Donald J. Trump @realDonaldRump

"Of all the presidents I worked for, Donald Trump had the most respect for women."

Thank you, Ho Picks!

Erm... Absolutely no hint of irony or shame whilst allowing this to be posted from his account. I think I can say with absolute certainty, there's no fecking way he posted this himself.

"Of all the presidents since me, Donald Trump is the greatest imbecile."

Thank you, Abraham Lincoln!

"Mexicans are rapist". Forgot about it Donald?

I suspect his follow-up tweet will be reminiscent of Brass Eye's 'good and bad AIDS' thing...only it'll be 'bad Hispanic people' instead.

That'll get him spluttering over his cornflakes and ketchup.

Not for the faint hearted
Stormy Daniels offers grotesquely graphic description of Trump’s genitals in salacious new book

https://www.rawstory.com/2018/09/st...scription-trumps-genitals-salacious-new-book/

Among other things, Daniels writes that Trump’s penis is “smaller than average” but “not freakishly small.” She also claims that it is “unusual” in shape and “it has a huge mushroom head” that’s “like a toadstool.”

She also says she found herself not at all enjoying her tryst with Trump, as she said she “lay there, annoyed that I was getting f*cked by a guy with Yeti pubes and a d*ck like the mushroom character in Mario Kart.”

No exclamation marks, no capitals, punctuation... It wasn't him

Executive power creep, as the oft impotent Congress shifts more responsibility to the POTUS to relieve themselves of accountability for bothersome things like trade... and war.

This most famously occured after the radioactive Smoot-Hawley tariffs of 1930 which accelerated the downward spiral of the Great Depression, much to the delight of FDR.

So many kids in America are going to wake up and get all excited at seeing Mario Kart trending on Twitter.
