The Trump Presidency | Biden Inaugurated

What is going to happen is that your iPhone price would go through the roof. Practically no one outside the US would buy one, profits start sliding and Apple eventually stop hiring US workers.
No one likes the theory of comparative advantage but it's real.
The best way for America to be benefit is to ensure it taxes Apples stupendous profits correctly and use it in improving its living standards. The Trump tweet is cheap propaganda nonsense.
It depends. Apple can afford to sell iPhone much cheaper than it sells now. For example, despite selling slightly less phones than Samsung, they get in profits around 9 times as much as Samsung (87% of the entire profits coming from phones, compared to Samsung's 10%). They can definitely afford to sell their phones much cheaper, which obviously will lower the profits (and eventually, their share price). But if that remains the only option, cause no one would want to buy a 1500 EUR iPhone, then they will likely do it.

Like I said, it doesn't have to be that way. Apple could pay proper wages and still make good profits.

How? There's no reasonable way to prove this unless you can account for costs incurred in the manufacturing process and how much different it would end up if they set up shop outside some midwestern city. Even if they could make a profit and the profit is lesser than what they are making now, it would make no sense from a corporate perspective to change what they are doing. The truth is they are probably shifting as many phones in Asia/Europe as they are in the US so if they go back now and China imposes the same tariffs to sell in their market, they are fecked either way.

The trend has been set a long time ago when it made sense to outsource production at a lower cost, once that genie had been let out there was never a going back and doing so now makes even less sense when manufacturing is being automated at a rapid pace.

If he wants to have a go at these companies he needs to look at them keeping all their money offshore in places like Ireland for tax purposes.

He's not wrong on that. I'm all for returning manufacturing to the US and paying living wages to workers while reducing obscene executive pay and exploitation of foreign workers.

How much is Apple worth again?

This simply means the usa are subsidizing her citizen to spent on iPhone.

Prices of iphone stays the same at best. Materials goes up. Tax goes down. Deficit. WOW?

Nothing stopping apple from shifting their factory to cambodia for instance. Or india. Or taiwan or practically any other country where waged are lower.

For every american employed you can employ 10 indonesian. You can argue americans are more efficient and all that but at the end of the day you still need brainless people to do brainless job.

The reason why apple is made in china is due to profits. And profits alone. It'd be naive to think apple has any sort of patriotic sense of employing americans at the expense of their pocket. They could have done so but they didnt. They even dont want to pay us tax

Tbf. It's more than cheaper labour cost why Apple is in China. Maybe that was the initial reason.
But now the manufacturing ecosystem that has been established over the past decade or so makes the supply chain within their ecosystem there extremely efficient for manufacturing -- such that you couldn't possibly up stick and move so easily without massive costs and saving losses.

I think I can guess because of how much cash they have. I don't think they are just about breaking even.

Yep. I'm sure china would reciprocate in kind with tariffs on rare earth minerals if Apple upped sticks.

I'm sure you didn't mean it like that, but this part is extremely condescending. I'd word it differently.

Cheap labor doesn't mean less efficiency in the same way as expensive labor doesn't mean more.

A 'brainless' American would cost way more than an extremely efficient chineese person for example. And there are a lot of brainless American that can do the brainless jobs.

Anyone who seriously believes that in 2018 the average American worker is more efficient than the average Chinese worker is either deluded or hasn't thought through their argument.

'The most popular figure in the Republican Party'. Wow, some competition there...

So true but wasnt the current single source rare earth from China considered like a 'national security risk' under the Obama Admin - and they had tried to find alternatives?

Not condescending. For example packing, warehousing, security, quality control, those are the same job that everyone can do regardless of education level.

There's no +1 guy in labour job. A pair of hands is a pair of hands no matter how intelligent you are.

Work ethics probably plays its part. But them chinese aren't less of a hardworker.

The comparison is absurd tbf. 1 employee of a multinational company in us requires minimun pay, benefits, pention, etc. The actual cost in hiring one american compared to one chinese can be 4:1, even midlevel manager cost alot more in us.

I suspect apple would find a loophole outsourcing a certain percent of labour intensive part and send them back to us for formality packaging to make it sounds like it's made in us.

Ask any Republican do they believe and agree with the 1st amendment of the constitution and they will tell you its their god given right to own guns. 25% of this country is a clear and present danger to the future of this nation.
Pulling someone from a rally and detaining them because they are not clapping the senile ramblings of a guy with clear mental problems and questioning the statements made isn't that far away from being clubbed because you didn't seig heil a deranged dictator.
The Republican party is fecking scum.

Yep, it's absolutely ridiculous

If Tim Cook decided to do that, the shareholders will have him out on his ass and replace him with someone who wouldn't do that.

'It's all fake': in Trump's heartland, talk of White House chaos rings hollow

Trump supporters react to the events of the past week or so:
Guardian said:
Even though he said he was motivated to vote against Clinton rather than for Trump, Mark Tullos – who watches Fox News and listens to Rush Limbaugh – couldn’t think of anything Trump had done in office that he was unhappy about.

The job Robert Mueller has done as special counsel, though, was a different story. Mueller, Tullos said, his quiet demeanor giving way to Trump-like rage, “is totally phony … totally deep state … obviously doesn’t care anything about his country … he emboldens our enemies and borders on being a traitor”.

So Diamond and Silk? Who the feck are they? Trump's personal uncle (auntie?) Tom duo?

This might be unfortunately true. Tim Cook doesn't have much shares on Apple (he got all his shares when he became CEO after Job's death), so he doesn't have as much power as CEO-founders like Page/Brin, Bezos, Zuckerberg etc.

Exactly, even a significant shareholder can be thrown out as the chairman/CEO if the other shareholders can prove he's acting in a manner detrimental to them.

He keeps getting that 223 number wrong too, it was 232 on election night.
