The Trump Presidency | Biden Inaugurated

The more I think about it, the weirder the op ed appears. The unspoken implications are that there are some Trump loyalists in the WH who cannot be relied on to curb him. It’s a death struggle at the wheel of a speeding bus. Is the author just calling for help forlornly, or preparing the ground for some kind of action?

you say "but hillary was shit" as if its just a glib response. hillary clinton would have caused death for thousands of people whose names you and i will never know in countries we will never visit. you cant frame that as a moral choice unless you value those lives differently.

Definitely better to let the GOP war machine into power if you want to reduce the number of deaths at the hands of American soldiers.

Republican governments have always been so restrained in the past.

It’s pretty weird how the death rate has multiplied under Trump with all that considered.

Think he's talking about the sentence of Papadopoulos and how light it was. Completely forgetting the reason it was so light.

I'm sick of all this politician talk in the politics thread!

You delete a comment you were going to make and it comes back the next time you post.

Seperation of powers, judicial vs executive. If confirmed by Congress, their position will not be tied to presidency. They can be impeached, convicted, retire or die for that position.

There really should be a 8-12 year maximum term limit for supreme court justices.
Wouldn't that just make them a second arm of Congress though? If Congress appointed a whole new Supreme Court every 8 years or so then they would appoint a court that would back their policies.

The only way to make the Court any way balanced would be for a Judge to need 66% of the vote to get elected so that they would need to be supported by both major parties or give both parties so many picks. You get to pick a Judge for every 8% of the vote your party holds for example.

He hasn't forgotten. All his supporters will read/watch is how the investigation has spent so much and because his sentence was so light, that was clearly because he did nothing wrong - witch hunt, waste of money, yada yada.

It doesn't have to be as severe as that. You pulled the worst dictator on earth as the norm. But contentious clapping being mandatory and being pulled out of a really for not clapping then having to speak to the secret service is pretty fecking bad.
I just imagined this commercial being with Drump but the missing piece being elsewhere.

Wait, so the president of the US had the secret service dress down a teenager for not clapping at one of his rallies for himself?

What a world people. What a world.

Remember, millions and millions of people love him.

He’s interviewed about it here.

Ask any Republican do they believe and agree with the 1st amendment of the constitution and they will tell you its their god given right to own guns. 25% of this country is a clear and present danger to the future of this nation.
Pulling someone from a rally and detaining them because they are not clapping the senile ramblings of a guy with clear mental problems and questioning the statements made isn't that far away from being clubbed because you didn't seig heil a deranged dictator.
The Republican party is fecking scum.

Trump: "Bob Woodward is an 'idiot,' his book is 'fiction'"
The Hill said:
President Trump slammed veteran journalist Bob Woodward and the release of this upcoming book, "Fear," on Friday during a campaign event in Fargo, North Dakota.

Speaking to supporters, the president lashed out at the Watergate reporter over quotes in the book that Trump claimed were false, and called the entire book a work of "fiction."

"By the way this idiot Woodward who wrote this book which is all fiction said that I said something like that, but he put it in a crude manner," Trump said, apparently referring to Woodward's report that the president had insulted his attorney general, Jeff Sessions, calling him "retarded."

"The concept is true, but the way it was said was very...hey, I went, like, to the best college...I mean, you read this thing, the quotes were wrong, all these...John Kelly, General Mattis, they're all writing 'I never said that, I never said that,'" Trump added, referring to denials from top staffers of passages in the book detailing their low opinion of the president's understanding of foreign affairs.

The great irony is that the flag waving ‘Merica types actually disagree with about 90% of the Constitution and Bill of Rights.

I don't think he was dressed down, according to his interview the rally coordinator pulled him out before the secret service checked his identification and let him go.

He's not wrong on that. I'm all for returning manufacturing to the US and paying living wages to workers while reducing obscene executive pay and exploitation of foreign workers.

How much is Apple worth again?

Sure if he can find a place in the US where manufacturing wages will be as cheap as Chinese factories it can happen. Until then no matter how much tariffs he applies its always going to be cheaper to find labor there and bringing back the finished product to sell elsewhere.

Like I said, it doesn't have to be that way. Apple could pay proper wages and still make good profits.

What is going to happen is that your iPhone price would go through the roof. Practically no one outside the US would buy one, profits start sliding and Apple eventually stop hiring US workers.
No one likes the theory of comparative advantage but it's real.
The best way for America to be benefit is to ensure it taxes Apples stupendous profits correctly and use it in improving its living standards. The Trump tweet is cheap propaganda nonsense.
