The Trump Presidency | Biden Inaugurated

Has he mentioned the Deep State before?

It’s quite clear that he’s mentally deficient. I just wish we knew whether that was a recent situation or if he’s been like that his whole life. I guess it’s either dementia, or the latter.

Another day in the soap opera that is the White House Diaries, those cheesy Australian day time shows have nothing on the Donald.

That would make sense of the senior admin official is a Dem.
It’s not partisan in that sense. Think of the AJ. Think of Mueller. McCain. Paul Ryan, for instance privately despises DT. Underneath the surface the old GOP hasn’t gone away. Working in that atmos it won’t matter what you party colours are, just your tolerance level for humiliation and being lied to. And fear.

I work for the Führer but like-minded colleagues and I have vowed to thwart parts of his agenda and his worst inclinations.

Führer Hitler is facing a test to his chancellery unlike any faced by a modern German leader.

The dilemma — which he does not fully grasp — is that many of the senior officials in his own administration are working diligently from within to frustrate parts of his agenda and his worst inclinations.

I would know. I am one of them.

To be clear, ours is not the popular “resistance” of the left. We want the administration to succeed and think that many of its policies have already made Germany safer and more prosperous.

But we believe our first duty is to this country, and the Führer continues to act in a manner that is detrimental to the health of the fatherland.

There is a quiet resistance within the administration of people choosing to put country first. But the real difference will be made by everyday citizens rising above politics, reaching across the aisle and resolving to shed the labels in favor of a single slogan: ein volk, ein Reich, ein Führer.

The 25th Amendment Is Not A Magic Bullet To Stop Trump, It ALL Comes Back To Republicans In Congress
The anonymous New York Times Op-ed is renewing talk of the 25th Amendment, but it's of no help.

But, even if all that happens, Donald Trump would have four days to submit a letter saying “no, actually I’m good, and I still want to be President.” At that point Congress has three weeks to vote to remove the President. For removal, 2/3rds of BOTH Houses have to vote for removal.

Impeachment, you’ll remember, only requires a simple majority vote in the House, and 2/3rds of the Senate to convict.

Likely not by way of the 25th but if he is implicated in criminal activity then enough Republicans will peel off to vote for impeachment.
dont see it - some may peel off... some may abstain
but enough would (in my opinion) cling till innocent till proven guilty and I cant see Meuller inditing a sitting president (and if he did it would become so tribal that it would probably push some who would have abstained or impeached in the republican party to backing him)... hes here till 2020 and my money is on Ivanka taking over

Here are 17 that could vote to impeach:

Alexander, Murkowski, Capito, Graham, Burr, Thune, Portman, Blunt, Gardner, Corker, Heller, Sullivan, Kennedy, Fischer, Collins, Scott, Rubio

(If the Dems take the Senate the magic number will likely go down to 16)

Truly amazing stuff!
If it was in a movie you wouldn’t believe it. Trumps’s reaction is too funny. He must be beside himself :)

It's going to take bullet proof evidence of something really nasty for him to be impeached. As long as he's got the voters confidence, the repubs will never agree to indict him as it would be political suicide. And for the republican voters to leave him, they need to be convinced that he's a criminal and more importantly guilty of something they can't just discard as him being an unorthodox rebel who plays the game differently than all the rest. And that's not going to happen with just anonymous source after anonymous source. Mueller better bring it, but I somehow fear that it will all end with a ostentatious tweet telling the world that the Rigged Witch Hunt is finally over and all the Haters and Losers can suck it.

Corner is gone January. He has no horse in this race

I used to believe this but seeing the results of things like the vote in Alabama have made me rethink things. If the GOP base is willing to rationalize the things that Roy Moore likely did, they'll have no problem looking the other way for things like obstruction of justice or tax evasion. They, quite simply, don't care enough to stop backing Trump's never-ending attacks on their favorite enemies - liberals, the media, the establishment, minorities, and whatever other grievance du jour there is.

To date, none of the GOP Congress will say much directly against Trump, let alone actually act against him. And we all know Trump won't be the kind to go quietly off into the sunset if he was to be removed. I'm sure he's been very blunt in private that he will make a point to go after each and every GOP member who votes to impeach him. Given their cowardice to this point, I can't see many of them standing up to him in such an official on-the-record way. At best, they'll continue to anonymously undermine him as a person while still pushing forward the party agenda while they can. The long term plan will likely be to try and push him to the background for 2020, to support a candidate they will try to force onto him or to self-destruct entirely. Either way, that's when they'll try to take back control of the party.

. Exactly how I feel about this op-ed. The guy is championing the tax cuts as "historic". Basically classic Republican who is using Trump to get the right wing agenda through but is upset by Trump being compromised by Russians and being so open about the courtship of the kind of racists elements, normal Republicans only align with via dog whistles.

meh they will never get 2/3 in the senate - hes not getting impeached

I mostly feel this way. I think impeachment is probably just wishful thinking for Democrats. But historically Trump's organization has been so sloppy so there is still a small chance some serious criminal charges emerge. But most likely yeah there won't be impeachment and Trump will be Pres until 2020.

I also think the "impeachment will never happen" crowd are underestimating the sentiment in Congress should Trump get implicated in being guilty of a felony.

Yeah that's fair. He doesn't have to lose his entire base anyway, just enough support to peel away 10 senate votes which is certainly possible considering its Trump.

fecking hell! This twat is going to rip the rights away from everyone he can. Roe v Wade will be gone (if he gets the chance) then he wants to basically legalise racial profiling.

Fml!
