You need to replace ‘central’ purpose with ‘current.’ Obstruction was always a better bet to begin with in regards to collusion anyways. We’ve moved beyond that scope.

Depends on the evidence Mueller can show. If it’s undeniable, then they could turn on him. He doesn’t have many friends in the senate, and once the primaries are done they’ll be thinking more about their own careers and the party than about him.

The not paying attention is a huge part of it imho. It's the reason he was able to win because if more had paid attention to all the crap he said during the primaries etc he would have had no chance - and also the reason his disapproval ratings don't get as bad as you might expect. I believe most folks don't start paying attention to politics until the economy tanks or something controversial gets rolled out that falls directly along party lines, and in addition is given a lot of press. Problem is that Donnie obviously keeps the press busy enough for few of the controversial things to actually stick.

I work with several folks that absolutely despise the Don but when I asked them whether them about arguably the most damning week of his presidency none really knew what was going on. Frustrating and mind boggling.

I never thought I'd say this but at this rate trump must not be impeached or jailed, for the greater good of the nation. He must be offered to continue for another 2 years but on a tight leash policy wise. Told not to run and keep his mouth shut in exchange for not being jailed.

If he's getting jailed or impeached his 30 percent or something cult followers will go riot physically and mentally the divide will never be healed

And that ladies and gentleman will be exactly what Trump wants everyone to believe. I for one hope they nail his arse to the wall. Strip him, his above the law entitled brethren 'n' offsping of all they own making them poor. I'm sick and tired off this uberclass who break the law and get away with it and if his followers riot lock them up too. Doing the right thing should not have conditions.

I’m not calling you a coward, but please understand that that is a cowardly position to take. Firstly, the vast majority of people are just going to talk a big game but do the square root of feck all when it comes down to it. If a tiny majority choose to go the route of civil unrest, then that is something we will have to face. It cannot be an excuse to forgive corruption, and potentially treason. No way, no how. No sir.

I disagree with many positions McCain took. And there was a lot of hypocrisy in his political life. But the man gave everything, bar his life, for his country. And is a bonafide hero. To say it’s good he’s dead, well I’d like to think that’s a little beneath you.

He fought against universal healthcare, lowered taxes at every opportunity and had more rental houses than he could at a time when property is more and more unaffordable for tens of millions for Americans. He did do his best to give the world war and destruction though. Good job, John.

Yeah, that one I can't disagree with. McCain is a proper hero. Dude was promoted above his ability and destroyed a bunch of US military planes because daddy was an admiral, he did as much to help America lose that war as some Viet Congs.

It's easy to jail trump, but that would only made him a martyr.

hes not a hero. he is a racist and he dedicated his life to war and destruction and making life worse for millions of people he never met. i was wrong to say its good he is dead. its actually great he is dead.

You're not going to get much balance in terms of assessing McCain's career. The far left dislike him due to his hawkish foreign policy approach over the years and the far right despise him because he wasn't right wing enough for their liking, was anti-Trump, and generally marched to his own drummer. Beyond the political fringes, you're also going to see a lot of funereal fawning about him in the establishment media, who have branded him as a sort of America first patriot who gave nearly 60 years of public service to the country. That's also a very selective way of presenting him since they are conveniently omitting a lot of the objectionable things he was involved in from the Keating 5, the MLK holiday flap, and a laundry list of other things.

That said, I thought Cenk's view is probably more balanced and in sync with how he will be remembered by a vast majority of the public - a lot of good with a good amount of questionable and some bad.

He's immensely popular in the Republican party, that's where the support needs to erode to drop him below 40% overall. His lowest approval came around the time they failed to repeal Obamacare. Since then they passed a tax legislation, put a scare into illegal migration, stood firm on DACA etc. He's maintaining his campaign promises one way or another.

It's amazing that you'd actively fight against universal healthcare.
But what's good is that in Germany, however much you as a person might want to deny others peace of mind or the chance to heal, your own ability to live through an accident or serious illness will never be taken away.
 
No politicians ever tapped the immigrants situation. The world seems to think america as the bastion of freedom and equality.

Trump has shown that racists and bigots vote is there if you want and know how to tap them. The next politician running for office can use this template.

I fear we will be seeing more and more politicans like trump who wants these voter's vote and it'll only be worse.
