I alternate between thinking we have to change the democratic party because it's a two party system and you need electoral victories and thinking that its impossible for the Democrats to ever become an anti imperialist anti capitalist party because the people who run the party and the corporate overlords depend on it in it's current state.

The nomination/election of Democratic Socialists will be effective in taking over the party from within.
The DNC is fully aware of the power of the progressives.
The strategy should be to vote Democrat down ticket and only vote for President should socialist agendas be adopted.
The key to victory is the message that resonates for the vast majority followed by the messenger who carries it.
Single payer and free college tution will get the enthusiasm. A trustworthy condidate who brings this message will bring victory.
If the DNC has not already got the message from 2016 they never will.
2018 will be very indicative. I see positive signs. But the corporations are still trying to exert influence .
Being just anti-Trump will bring failure.

In Minnesota the DFL has endorsed Erin Murphy for Governor. She is for single payer statewide. We have a statewide exchange. This simply needs to be expanded to single payer.
I have had discussions with State legislature reps about their plans and am encouraged.

These people are not debating the state of their country online and mobilising themselves to fix things. They believe one thing. Many will be single issue voters and will vote the same way till the day they die.
America will never change it's spots. There may be some isolated 'wins' for seemingly left-leaning causes. A few signs on some toilet doors, some rainbow paint and the odd apology for using the wrong pronoun.
It's citizens will continue to be monetised to an extent that no other country would ever be able to come close to. (Nor would they want to) Neither Democrat or Republican will ever dilute that position.
