The Trump Presidency | Biden Inaugurated

I have to make a confession, I post snide remarks under Trump's tweets in the hopes of getting in to a pointless discussion with MAGA people. :nervous:

She was a part of the Obama administration and used his support while campaigning. She couldn't campaign and agree with Trump that the country was awful.
She could've said America's on the right track but has a long way to go. Would've been a lot better.

The problem is that Hillary's was a very reactionary campaign mostly focused on LOLOLOL look at Trump he's such a deplorable moron and everything he says is nonsense. People of below average wealth don't want some rich Disney villain looking lady tell them to shut up and go out celebrating their wealth.

She could've turned Trump's message of MAGA into something about the idea of America never losing it's greatness and championing the idea to share the greatness of the American dream with everyone, not just white people.

It's mostly that she's probably the least likable person to ever walk this earth that lost her the election though. I honestly think I would've abstained from voting as well if I were an American.

“Well, that’s one of the great things I got. Everybody used to say my hair’s phony, it’s not my hair, I’m wearing a hairpiece. Anybody here wearing a hairpiece now? But the one thing, they never say that any more because I’ve been caught in rain storms, I’ve been caught in winds that are like 60 miles an hour getting off. If it’s not your hair, don’t run for office, folks, don’t run. Do not run for office because the gig would be up.”

 or is it :nervous:, I don't know at this point. This sounds like me drunk dialing my ex at 6 am.

Emily Jane Fox’s 'Born Trump: Inside America’s First Family' fairly bulges with scenes like this; thick and fast they come, five or six to the page. If everything in Trump Land is flashy, super-abundant and wholly exorbitant, it’s also superficial, shoddy and almost entirely mean-spirited. At first, to put it mildly, this is queasy-making. When Trump flies in to Slovenia to meet Melania’s parents, a trip that lasts in total only a few hours – “I was there about 15 minutes…. I landed, said: hi Mom, hi Dad. Bye!” – you think all over again: my God, how ghastly he is. After a while, though, a certain numbness sets in. The news that Jared Kushner proposed to Ivanka Trump with a ring from her own jewellery collection barely raises an eyebrow. The fact that Donald Jr agreed to ask his wife, Vanessa, to marry him in front of a load of television cameras in a New Jersey shopping mall, in order to bag a discount on a $100,000 emerald-cut diamond, strikes you as so predictable as to be almost unworthy of comment.

Popcorn at the ready!

Anticipation and disappointment awaits us all!

Edit - I assume this is child detention related, in which case I hope the kids are alright :(

Reminds me so much of the UK. Turkeys voting for Christmas. These people can't connect the dots.

Brilliant! Will be poetic all hicks and cross-burners ditching their iconic Harleys because they're 'told' they're now un-American. Just need affluent black, Hispanic, Native American and Asian people importing them and making Harley their symbol. And drive them right across route 66. :D

When will Trumpists realise this man is not a serious person.

Surely all those free market libertarians in his base will now be up in arms over the government threatening punitive taxation on businesses?

Won't hold my breath

That's how Trump will win his reelection. The democrats will campaign thinking, SURELY they won't vote for him after this.

And they will, they all will.

Agreed here, and I saw her try that but that's not her forte. She's more policy than selling the dream so it didn't work. Plus with her history it would have seemed disingenuous so her best bet was going with what she did. Her problem in the end was not shoring up the safe Dem seats she lost. The polls IIRC weren't that steady for her and Trump was campaigning hard there and her team should have recalculated.

Bikers For Trump...

Gnarly Harley Davidson? Harley Demvidson? Crooked Harlary Davidson?

Wonder what he'll call them. Exciting times.

Came to this conclusion a while ago. People need to accept that this is America.
Trump is getting reelected.

Most of them but not everyone are going to change their tune when they face the real consequences of supporting Donald Trump and not much before that as many of them are too emotionally attached to his fake PR personality currently as it has been a free ride so far in terms of consequences. Though the Democrats really need to ditch Chuck Schumer and Nancy Pelosi as they are both very poor as minority leaders as they are incredibly incompetent at taking on the Republicans in both the Senate and the Public arena in terms of public relations. I dislike the weasel Mitch McConnell but he plays the game well behind closed doors from an purely political perspective, and have out thought and out played the Democratic leadership big time by being incredibly cynical. The Democrats needs to wise up and act like an opposition and not play nice to people that have no issue with lying and using any tool to accomplish their goals.

The old Democratic Party needs to die off and make room for new leaders that have a vision that appeal to majority of the working and middle class Americans if it is to succeed going forward. The Progressives might have to force that change though as it looks like the current leaders are too hell-bent on staying on no matter the terrible results they are getting.

We Have a Crisis of Democracy, Not Manners

Naturally, all this has led to lots of pained disapproval from self-appointed guardians of civility. A Washington Post editorial urged the protesters to think about the precedent they are setting. “How hard is it to imagine, for example, people who strongly believe that abortion is murder deciding that judges or other officials who protect abortion rights should not be able to live peaceably with their families?” it asked.

Of course, this is not hard to imagine at all, since abortion opponents have assassinated abortion providers in their homes and churches, firebombed their clinics and protested at their children’s schools. The Roman Catholic Church has shamed politicians who support abortion rights by denying them communion. The failure to acknowledge this history is a sign of the reflexive false balance that makes it hard for the mainstream media to grapple with the asymmetric extremism of the Republican Party.
...
Whether or not you think public shaming should be happening, it’s important to understand why it’s happening. It’s less a result of a breakdown in civility than a breakdown of democracy. Though it’s tiresome to repeat it, Donald Trump eked out his minority victory with help from a hostile foreign power. He has ruled exclusively for his vengeful supporters, who love the way he terrifies, outrages and humiliates their fellow citizens. Trump installed the right-wing Neil Gorsuch in the Supreme Court seat that Republicans stole from Barack Obama. Gorsuch, in turn, has been the fifth vote in decisions on voter roll purges and, on Monday, racial gerrymandering that will further entrench minority rule.
...
Faced with the unceasing cruelty and degradation of the Trump presidency, liberals have not taken to marching around in public with assault weapons and threatening civil war. I know of no left-wing publication that has followed the example of the right-wing Federalist and run quasi-pornographic fantasies about murdering political enemies. (“Close your eyes and imagine holding someone’s scalp in your hands,” began a recent Federalist article.) Unlike Trump, no Democratic politician I’m aware of has urged his or her followers to beat up opposing demonstrators.

Instead, some progressive celebrities have said some bad words, and some people have treated administration officials with the sort of public opprobrium due members of any other white nationalist organization. Liberals are using their cultural power against the right because it’s the only power they have left, and people have a desperate need to say, and to hear others say, that what is happening in this country is intolerable.

Sometimes, their strategies may be poorly conceived. But there’s an abusive sort of victim-blaming in demanding that progressives single-handedly uphold civility, lest the right become even more uncivil in response. As long as our rulers wage war on cosmopolitan culture, they shouldn’t feel entitled to its fruits. If they don’t want to hear from the angry citizens they’re supposed to serve, let them eat at Trump Grill.

Not really. It's easier to think an immigrant stole your job than to understand economics and know the real reason. feck the stupids. They've destroyed this country through laziness and indifference.

After all, he's an expert on profundity.

After all, he's an expert on profundity.
I had to google the word profundity.

A sad and ironic realization that I'm no expert on it either is what followed.

:(

But then I learned it's also the name of a battlecruiser from the rebel fleet in Star Wars, which is, well, not really related to anything.
