The irony of telling others to respect laws (even though standing for flags/anthems are not a law) when at the same time, they argue against lawful rights like freedom of expression. Even funnier that its non US citizens telling US citizens what to do.

Oh, come on! Unfamiliarity with the words of the anthem is not equivalent to a refusal to comply with the public norms of behaviour when it's being played. I'm not arguing for perfect citizens. People do what they like in pubs or shops or their own homes. But a protocol defining the conduct of those present when the anthem is played on certain public occasions has been established. Non-compliance sends a different message to mere ignorance of the words of the song!
