So all this trickle down horseshite, can't it be reversed? Give people on wellfare a fatter paycheck so they can spend more money in stores, meaning said stores get more money to invest in development, meaning a growing economy?

With the bonus that instead of making ridiculously rich people more rich, it makes ridiculously poor people less poor?

70 years of anti-communism propaganda have made this a political impossibility. Making rich people richer is morally right while making poor people less poor invariably leads to mass slaughter, police state (ironic huh!?) and a corrupt elite .

Indeed.

Sometimes, when I'm feeling especially socialist it just baffles me that with the ridiculous amounts of riches in the world there are still so many hungry poor people. Human kind just sucks, there's plenty to go around, but we ain't sharing.

They are all out to get me!

Someone as been told to focus

Don't be depressed by what Trump says. Be inconsolable about the fact it's working: support of Mueller has halved amongst Republicans in the last 3 months.

Remember, at one stage the majority of Americans believed Saddam Hussein was involved in 9/11.

Fox is the problem. Not Trump. He is a as symptom, a big orange tumor.

I talked a lot with a guy for Trump. He was white, walking in Wall Street, though to his credit, he started from nothing going in the country when he was 8. While he said that he voted for Clinton (also said, I wished to have voted for Trump instead), he seemed to really like Trump and actually had relatively strong arguments for it. He said that Trump has been working well on the economy and has been tackling the right problems which other people didn't, but just that he is being tactless about it. Now, it is weird for me to see a highly intelligent guy talking in that way for Trump, but yeah, food for though.

Anyway, I guess you can't expect better from a white guy working in finance.
I'm a white guy working in finance, but I do have an actual education in economics unlike most of my peers. I wasn't the best student, but I do remember the main conclusions. One is that under conditions of near full-employment that the US was already at in 2016, fiscal stimulus will be ineffective in changing the level of product (read GDP), it will just be inflationary (which you might not observe if the Fed counteracts).

There's 20 other serious economics (from the "consensus", not anything heterodox) arguments against Trump's policies, on trade, on unpredictable intervention in economic/business affairs, efforts to undermine the Fed's independence... it goes on and on.

That's the main thing I'd point out about every Larry Kudlow and similars you hear/read: they don't know diddly about economics.

The other point that just came to mind, and I deal with these types often: people who treat the economy as the #1 absolute. I would never sacrifice the principles of good government and civics for any level of gains in the economy.

This is spot on (go on fellow economists!) But also worth noting the health of an economy is difficult to measure. Certainly market performance is not great. Employment can also be misleading given wage and cost of living costs etc.

I'd add the media taking every opportunity to jump in feet first actually helps him too. The real news gets lost in the noise.
These outdated refugee pics provided a cheap and unnecessary win for him today which feeds into the fake news bullshit.
It could have been so easily avoided.

Most of American news media is in the entertainment business not the news business. That's a bigger fish to fry. Trump is still a cnut tho, fry him first then worry about the rest later.

What's frustrating is that Trump himself has tweeted out repeatedly proven fake news, fake charts, and photoshops with virtual no negative consequences because Republicans unapologetically do not give a shit.

If Melania wants to get rich on her own, now is the time to get out and write a book that puts Michael Wolff's to shame. Imagine the kind of things she could make up to sell that book.

Melania leaving him would be huge - don't underestimate the amount of guys who voted for the guy because they think his wife and daughter are hot (yes I've actually heard people say that). It seems like it would be a massive kick in the ego balls for that segment of his voters.

It also seems like she would have everything to gain both in popularity and probably financially.

It looks inevitable she'll leave him once they leave the WH.

I’d love for her to leave him if only just to see what kind of nutjob divorce lawyer Trump bulls out of his ass.

Can't wait til tonight when Trump mentions the Rosanne issue in his speech in Tennessee.
"it's a massive attack on conservatives by the media, Republicans are doing so much winning that the media elites hate it, look at Weinstein, so much sexual harassing by the Hollywood liberals, I heard Roseanne accused a producer of sexual harassment but they fired her, I know great people who told me so, conservatism is under attack by those people who want to take away your guns, look at what happened in Belgium, Roseanne was right about Mueller, i wouldn't grab Roseanne but she loves me and we like that- right folks? We re doing so much winning look at what happened to my dear friend Tim Allen. I said - the way they are treating you in Hollywood is a disgrace. I am going to start my own Hollywood for conservatives, it ll be great. "

Any bets on exactly how he twists it into an attack by the Hollywood elite on a hardworking, innocent Real American®

He will be speaking to a rowdy crowd in Tennessee to support Marsha Blackburn so I'm sure it will come up some way or the other.

 Brilliant. But it’s not crazy enough.

“Roseanne - that’s not O’Donnell. That’s Rosie. Rosie is the one with no talent. Awful woman - it’s true. And, you know; never made me laugh. Never - did you hear what she did with Obama? Wow. I’m not gonna say what it was or if it’s true or not, but the FBI should be looking into that. Follow the paper trail.

But Roseanne - wonderful woman. Very talented woman. Funny. She got - you know that they’re struggling when they have to wait for Rosie to make a simple mistake so they can can her show. Happens to us all. But they didn’t like her because she didn’t play their elite games. What she said was harmless - totally fine. But it wasn’t fine. But it was called totally harmless and fine. And she - she voted to Make America Great. And they didn’t like that. But she was smart just like you folk. Very smart. Trump voters are the most smart. Best looking too. Just like their President, if you don’t mind me saying. Yeah. Sorry. But - let’s face it - it’s true.

But Rosie? The network messed up big time. Dumb decision by dumb people. Sorry. But try getting those ratings with another show. Huge ratings. Not as good as my ratings but closer than - and you know, my shows? My shows. Highest ratings for six years in a row. Ever. Not for me to say but Roseanne and Obama? Did I ever tell you about the time I flew solo around the world with Mickey Mouse? Wow. Crazy stuff.”

Has Trump showing up helped any candidate so far?

Not particularly. He's mostly been a nuisance who didn't help much in the end. I'm hoping that trend continues with Blackburn, who is already struggling at this point. Even Corker won't wholeheartedly endorse her.

18 days since Melania went missing...
