The Trump Presidency | Biden Inaugurated

People on here love the establishment, does it keep you feeling secure at night that they are keeping watch.

I can see why Hillary got such love on here, you lot love to be the ants beneath their masters shoes.

When people stop putting their faith in the establishment and start actually paying attention, then maybe we could live in a society where the 99% do not spend their lives funding the elites.

Its not about Trump himself, but rather what he has unknowingly exposed.

Sad to see this is serious..

I just don't get the logic.
He was on a TV show - how did that turn into 'he's part of corrupt media elite'?

Must make Jon Stewart, Fareed Zakaria and Seth Macfarlane corrupt as hell then, based on that logic?! A bit unfair, esp as completely unfounded.
He's corrupt - see his behaviour before the election - making campaign donations to prosecutors investigating him. And after the election - asking world leaders to approve his projects, the most recent one being the Taiwan leader which has sparked an international incident since he deemed his company more important that the relationship with China. And he's a media elite.

What do you think a corrupt media elite is? Someone you disagree with? Because that's not how it works, it's a person who is A) Corrupt, B) a media elite. Trump is both. And boasts about it.

He's described as corrupt because...he's corrupt. He's going to make Nixon look like a boy scout.

The thing that really gets to me is that the motherfecker actually boasts about it. What the feck else do people need? Even if every source detailing his corruption is biased and misinterpreting events and facts - he fecking boasts about, he's told us with his own god damn mouth. Makes me angry just thinking about it.

Genuinely utterly disagree!
Personally, am delighted re how he's dealt with Taiwan/China! Breath of fresh air; no more stupid hush-hush hypocrisy of how the likes of dithering Obama dealt with things and is somehow lauded a hero for!

Ps moral of this thread - losing liberals are far more whiny and frankly dangerous than losing Conservatives, it seems!

Yeah, when the candidate brags about having enriched themselves for years as they could get away with it, it's a fair clue as to how they'll behave when handed huge executive power

He's already stolen Nixon's campaign slogan, so another "It's not illegal when the president it" is basically nailed on at this point.

Same boat as the Remainers yelling 'trigger article 50 now!'

Not a silver bullet but a first step. Let's judge him after 4 years at least shall we, as Democrats always seem to cry-out for (and frankly the outrage I've seen post this election is amongst the likes of nothing I've seen before! Bit cringeworthy TBH).
Uh... you won't find many serious remainers saying that.

And no, let's not judge after four years, that's a stupid thing to do. Judge him as he performs his actions.

But you do realise he says it not (entirely) as a brag but to highlight it is indeed that way.

Like an oil worker turned environmentalist saying it in 'it's rotten to the core, trust me I used to be on the other side' type of way? I have no problem with that, adds credence to his narrative that people already find true.

We're not going to give a running commentary! :p

Actions speak louder than words. He's used at least two phone calls with world leaders to advance his business interests. This isn't an oil worker fixing the world, this is an oil worker going around smashing wind farms.

He called Taiwan did he? Apologies, I must have misunderstood...

Oh yeah, I forgot he'd released his tax returns and liquidated his business holdings to demonstrate how committed he was to changing his ways, whilst also proposing a tax regime that really made the top 1% pay their share.

Coincidentally after a Trump Org. contact went there to inquire about them investing on the island. He also used a phone call with the Argentine leader to make headway on a building project there.

These are two known examples of him using his new found position to further his personal interests since the election result.

I find the reaction to the Taiwan call interesting as much of the left would have praised Obama for such an action. He met the Dalai Lama and that pissed the Chinese off just as much.

I wonder what his supporters think will happen when his interests on the Island align with China's. Does anyone really think he's going to be a knight in shining armour if it costs him a buck?

Let's be fair and add other dithering presidents since this has apparently been going on since 1979. I see Trump denies any interest in building there. Hope that is true.

It would be great there wasn't a whiff of corruption about it.

I was kind of excluding that as a given. The liberal media which i consume though isn't just calling him out on that its calling him out on dangerous breaking of US policy, because its Trump they forget this might be a good thing. Its just odd when they dont reflect because they're too busy criticising.

And he is right on the arms sales. You can't sell arms but then criticise Trump for merely partaking in a formal diplomatic dialogue.

Thinking about it. Trump has a kind of Wilhelm II aura about him. Coddled, entitled and incredibly idiotic world leader who should anything of serious consequence happen will be one of the primary reasons why his empire goes down in flames.

That's fair enough, I suppose a "It would be nice if this was part of a measured approach against China's imperial ambitions" article would be nice. But I think everyone is kind of pissed off about the casual nature he did it in, including some on Taiwan's progressive side who now fear an intensified Chinese wrath.

He's been saying it for ages; don't hate the player, hate the game!

So that green thing looking for attention didn't had 1 million dollars for Pennsylvania recount  looks like she kept the money
this reeked of money grabbing scheme since day 1.

but I gotta give credit to jill stein, she helped republicans and democrats find common ground... in hating her.

Are you taking the piss or do you are just some kind of anarchist? You can't go from "he's not corrupt" to "he's just good at it".

Cognitive dissonance. Has to be.
Depends how you define corrupt; I think of it as someone who takes the bribe and acts accordingly (rather than the giver TBH). No issue with givers of bribes if that's how the system is setup, is the culture and it gets the job done. Of course I don't want to see it, and have faith in an outsider (and perhaps even from the giver side) to clean it up rather than the establishment (ie takers), saying 'trust us, we will now clean this up'

Apologies for the messy post, iPhone keyboard arghh

He's asking world leaders to approve his business projects at the PEOTUS. How much longer are you going to be blind to this? He doesn't give a flying feck about cleaning up the system, he's there to use to his advantage. We've moved beyond "giver" at this point. He's been elected and is openly accepting bribes. This is who Trump is, this is who he has always been and who he will always be. And he's not an outsider, he's a card carrying member of the establishment. The Clintons were at his fecking wedding.

He isn't a worker at all. He is the owner of the oil refinery. It's a different perspective altogether.

His Education secretary is also a religious loon who wants a particularly ridiculous version of the religion taught to children. So, if you thought Americans were stupid now, it's not getting better any time soon.

What is the job in hand exactly?

Trump had no actual goals except "winning" for himself and himself alone. He was saying whatever bullshit some stupid white shit wanted to hear. He has zero goals beyond enriching himself and a group of acquaintances (not friends because this type of person has zero real friends).

The whole thing was a scam and there were enough desperate people that bought it. That's all.

It's just not the keyboard that's messy here Paz ffs.

He's still going after SNL. Reminds me of an over exposed celebrity at this point. If he doesn't slow down soon, even his most ardent fans will start to get sick of him like Amy Schumer or Dane Cook.

Unbelievable!!!

A president (-elect) is upset because of some TV show, and he admits that in public using Twitter!...

(That's the Decline of the West...)

Is that really Trump tweeting .Or as he hired a troll to do it for him.

Amazing insight you have into his mind and motivations!

In all seriousness, let me get this straight...you think he wants to further his empire (already worth billions), and think he thought the best way he could do this was to become US President, for this reason alone...and will enact furthering his business with no care in the world about the people, nation or words or anything else for that matter?!
