In terms of optics it looks like shit for the Democrats and obviously brilliant for the Republicans and Trump. But, it doesn't really change much - dude couldn't even be described as a blue dog (that he is a Governor and not in Congress is beside the point).

This part of the story is frustrating.

One challenge is that tantalizing pieces of intelligence are missing key links because they did not develop long enough for investigators to determine their significance. These include intercepts monitored by US intelligence that showed suggestions of illegal coordination but nothing overt.

Those missing links mean that the FBI and Mueller's prosecution team may not have enough evidence to bring charges related to possible illegal coordination with a foreign intelligence service. Instead, prosecutors could pursue financial crime charges unrelated to the election.

I suppose all those who voted for Hitler had their valid reasons too.

It's fine to critisise The Dems for their lack of government funding re-allocation for those in deprived states, which were also battle ground states. It's not alright to condone voting for a fascist or see it as an acceptable stance.

Semantics. I can understand why people voted the way they did. That doesn't mean I support that vote. Nor do I think it makes them deplorable.
Having said that, there are some Trump voters who clearly fit the description - he had KKK support, and more than that, the average GOP voter is well-off and comfortable - voting for Trump for these people wasn't a protest against their economic condition.

Oh and BTW, he's not a fascist and calling his voters deplorables is the sort of snobby elitism that helped Trump win the election in the first place.

Don't be surprised if that's just a ruse and they actually have very detailed documentation of everything and they leak all they claim to have... suggestive enough to demand an explanation. Of course when the excuses and explanations start coming they'll be quickly dispelled with more leaks proving they are lying. They just love getting themselves tangled up in webs of lies.

You should understand that under all that pussy grabbing comments, he promised jobs esp in coal/steel sectors, less immigration, better healthcare etc and came across different to the sneaky political operator that Hillary came across as. He has a fair share of extremist nut supporters, but many were swayed by promised benefits to their lives.
