If Trump can't deliver to Putin relief on sanctions, what use is he to him?

The Donald could be in a very precarious situation. His only hope is that congress passes the bill with a veto-proof, supermajority. If that doesn't happen and he signs the bill Putin is angered shit might well hit the fan. If he doesn't sign the bill a shitstorm of a different kind will kick of domestically.

Yeah it's a fragile position he's in there and it makes me wonder whether it's the GOP's way of leaning pressure on him and putting him into an impossible position to push him out.

If you think about it, it's the most politically safe way of getting to him as his supporters can't blame the Representatives for passing this bill - it's something they will have been supportive on for years. So if Trump kicks off over it, it's on Trump and nobody else.

Scaramucci has already trampled on his own credibility a mere 24 hours after taking the job, talking about questioning whether Russia hacked the election etc. He won't last long imo.

Obama's comm director was saying the same thing on CNN yesterday.
Surprisingly said he has sympathy for anyone in the job.
Called 45 a black hole of credibility.

I was fearful that Mooch might be extremely professional and at least put an end to the administration bringing unwanted attention to itself. Nope. Still inept, still doing a good job of keeping themselves in the spotlight.

Scaramucci's claim that no one will be pardoned by Trump is going to come back to haunt him.

I read somewhere that presidential pardons do not have to be disclosed. If that's true, I wonder if Trump has pardoned everyone in his immediate family and/or some more close loyal folks already, thereby creating a layer in the food chain. Even if the "smaller" folks do get caught up in any of these investigations etc., the whole thing may not reach up to Trump because these small folks would lead to Jared/Jr/someone who isn't Trump and because of the pardon, the whole investigation just stops there without any leads to work up to Trump himself.

The whole "can a president pardon himself" is most likely an effort to test the waters and see how it plays out. It might be a while before any of the states start investigating any of these issues and by then, it might just be too late in the game.

It'll get leaked out if Trump does try to issue the pardons in secret and that'll be a huge scandal in itself.

Mueller will still investigate everything and it will all be in his report, regardless of anyone being pardoned.

I think the main danger is as you say, the layer in the food chain causing big problems when they want to turn people like Manafort with the offer of immunity. Trump has the power to offer a pardon to anyone that is being offered immunity.

If he starts doing this, it's impeachment time.

The only time I know of a President pardoning a relative is when Bill Clinton pardoned his brother for possession of cannabis. Pales in comparison to this but then again the republicans weren't too far off in succeeding in having Bill impeached for having sexual relations with that woman, while Trump's campaign dealing underhand with Russians - treason not that long ago - is ok. [yes I know Bill lied on oath but still......]

Oh, you clearly haven't seen the mental gymnastics they're capable of. Don't worry, they'll find away to blame anyone - probably including Obama - but Trump.

Not surprising given that they specifically sought out Trump's primary demographic of older rural whites. If they went looking for independents who flipped to GOP because of Trump, they may get different results.

I don't see how impeachment is a possibility in an R controlled congress.

So basically what you're saying is should Trump pardon people, we, the common public, have to rely on "leaks" to get the information AND everything said and done, any incriminating evidence found against anyone would most likely remain in a report or on paper and that there's nothing we can do about it because there's another piece of paper that "protects" and thereby overrides the former.

You don't need credibility. See Conway. As long as you're loyal to Trump, the job is yours no matter how ridiculous you sound.

You do need credibility, otherwise you'll be perceived as a Baghdad Bob charlatan like KellyAnne has, and wind up getting banned from much of the mainstream shows. The name of the game isn't just staying afloat by impressing Trump, its about getting a positive message out to the public and that can't happen without retaining a degree of believability.

They've been trying to use him as a distraction to push their policies through but it's failed every time so far because rather than distract he is brash and abrasive - especially with those he needs in his side. It's clear as day that they need someone who has the tact and political ability to negotiate with the different factions within the House and Senate, they can't be bullied.

I wouldn't be surprised if there is support for Pence growing as a more moderate leader.

Disgusting. That one guy talking about respecting the President, highly doubt he was bitching when Obama was being targeted with angry rhetoric and racist vitriol.

The TP'er interviewed on his porch is your typical emotionally charged voter stuck deep in his/her beliefs. There's no changing their views. Some people do change as they educate themselves and evolve, like myself.

This is the thing for me. You can be certain these people would have been out with flaming torches and pitchforks if there'd been a sniff of any of this, anything at all from it, with Obama. The cognitive dissonance is astounding.

Depends on the situation.. if I'm with family I keep my head down.. with colleagues I let rip.

My family's reactions range from 'silence' to who claims he is a 'non-entity to me' to 'i cant stand that man' to almost silent and hatred (and he is a legal eagle who is working on a case against Trump.)

They are exclusively bi-coastal.

Me and my wife are the only folks in my family, not counting my brother's fiancée, who didn't vote for Trump, so we try to keep neutral and just keep comments between ourselves when at family get-togethers.

I enjoy making my coworkers squirm though. I don't pull punches.

Who in your family is working on the case?
