The RedCafe Boxing Thread

it was so blindingly obvious the other guy had zero intentions of putting up a fight, I could’ve give Khan a better fight than that.

I presume tickets would’ve been £100+ but Can those morons in attendance not see they’ve been completely mugged off and that fight was fixed. I can and I don’t even watch boxing at all.

Stick to football mate.

Khan talks too much. Forgot how annoying he was.

Jesus the Khan agendas on here are embarrassing.
Its beyond embarrassing, you'd think he'd defecated in their front lawn. Loud mouth and overrated he is, but some of the hatred is unbelievable. Boxing is full of loud-mouths, Haye was a fraud as well yet he never came close to getting the hate Khan does.

It's definitely a select few fans he will never win over no matter what he does. For some reason he has always polarised opinion moreso than other boxers. I'm not his biggest fan but I know an agenda when I see one.

Back on topic - for his next fight I'd like to see a Danny Garcia rematch to avenge that devastating loss, but I doubt Hearn will look at it that way. Way too risky. Probably can see another warm-up style fight with the opportunity for him to get a few more rounds under his belt, ending with a Kell Brook blockbuster at the end of the year. He also looks like he's injured his wrist again, was holding it quite gingerly post fight.

Kahn fight went exactly as expected, hopefully we eventually get Brook Vs Kahn at the back end of 2018.

Looking forward to the Frampton fight now, I really dislike him but can't quiet work out why.

I can’t stand khan, but I don’t really know why. There’s just something fundamentally unlikeable about him

Pretty much, I mean the poster on the last page gave his reasoning for hating Khan as ''never rated him''. Which is a bit bizarre, I never rate West Brom or Sunderland or people like Audley Harrison but I have no hatred towards them. :wenger:

You're right, they will not risk Garcia anytime soon. I think Garcia will only happen after the Brook fight. Then he will be in a position to go out and avenge defeats, that is if he beats Brook.

I am not going to apologise for not liking him , never rated him has a fighter or has a person.
Just like people on here thing some footballers are overrated , I think Khan is overrated.
I am actually a pretty easy going person , but Khan really boils my piss and I have my reasons.
Sorry if you find that bizarre , but we all have somebody that pushes our button and he does that big style.

I used to like Khan when he was younger. He also in person is a pretty sound guy.

Unfortunately he comes across as delusional over the past few years and I’ve started to dislike him. Though I do want him to keep winning so he faces Brook or anyone decent.

You already have given your reason; ie that he is overrated. Which I said earlier is pretty odd. There are many people or teams we don't rate, but if we used your logic we'd hate 14 teams in the PL just because they're overrated.

And not really, no sportsman pushes my buttons. If I hate them its because they thrash my team everytime. If I don't rate them then hating them is pretty bizarre. As for apology I don't remember asking for it, so not sure why you're saying ''I am not going to apologise''.

All boxers are delusional. Look at Haye, Harrison and even people like Malinaggi. Talking as if they're legends when they're not. Everyone is a loud-mouth in boxing, it sells fights.

It’s not that he’s a loud mouth. I was livid when he lost to Peterson, Garcia etc, I wanted to see him fight Floyd. I was a fan.

But lately, I’ve not warmed to him at all. For whatever reason, I just like to see him get knocked out  though like I said I want him to keep winning so we can see some entertaining fights.

Fair enough! As for Floyd I think Khan wasted a lot of his time chasing that one big fight. Same against Pac when he should have been fighting others. Just when things looked good for him he'd collapse.

I don't know why Frampton is insisting on fighting on the inside.

Donaire is too small but still would have smashed Frampton in his prime.

If Broner can get past Vargas tonight (he probably won’t), he’d be perfect for Khan’s next fight.

1986-1989 Tyson vs Joshua?
Tyson had no chin but he was very difficult to be hit. On the other hand, Joshua cannot move his head and considering Tyson's fast hands and his power, I think that the match would have ended only in one way.

Broner when asked if he wanted a rematch:

“Hell yes,” he said. “But let’s go to my town. I want to fight him where I’m from. There’s hella Mexicans that are in here, they kept booing me and (expletive). They want rice and chicken. I want some (expletives) that want Coney’s around me.”

He also went after Jim Gray after Gray asked him how much it helped to have a different trainer in his corner.

“You’re a different fighter with that different suit on. Did things change when you changed that old (expletive) suit?"

Again on Vargas:

“I beat your (expletive) … It looks like I beat him with what they beat Martin Luther King Jr. with man …. “

What's a moron.

Yeah that post fight interview was a disgrace. Broner coming across as a racist child. Can't believe that shit is tolerated in America by the interviewers, public etc.

That post fight interview :lol::lol:

That was hilarious from Khan that. Just left Brook in the ring shouting to himself pretty much, was so odd to see. Brook looked such an idiot

Jesus the Khan agendas on here are embarrassing.

Yep, reading that back was a bit odd. Not rating him is fair enough, calling it a fix and people idiots for going is odd. I think this has happened a few times in the last few weeks in this thread. It seems a few people have turned in to financial advisers (it happned with Joshua fight to.) We're idiots if we choose to spend our money on something we enjoy. I didn't go to see Khan as was at Wembley but if people want to pay money to go to the boxing and have a few beers or whatever why are they idiots? Seems so odd to get annoyed by what others spend their money on.

He's a tit. He tries so hard to be Mayweather but is no where near as good in the ring. Floyd was always humble after a fight really, Broner tries to hard and no one is arsed about him. He'll probably be in jail soon enough.

Broner is a racist moron and got lucky with the judges. So in other words what's new? It was a close fight but that's about the 5th time in his career he got the benefit of a close fight.

He's a gatekeeper at this point. Some solid skill but that's about it.

Gatekeeper’s a bit harsh. He’s arguably #2 at 140.

Big Khan and Brook fan so absolutely can't wait to see them finally get it on. Can only see a Brook win though tbh. Don't see Khan having the power to stop Brook, and don't see Khan being able to last 12 rounds without getting hurt by Brook.

It would be a cracker though.

Touchy subject but I wonder how much of the khan hate comes about from his colour and religion.

He's from Bolton, still lives in Bolton (primarily), but whenever he fights and I go watch it in a bar in Bolton it's full of people wanting him to get chinned rather than supporting someone from their home town. Majority are being openly racist and most I recognise as being EDL members.

I can't see that. I think he's lost his last three fights and he can't really make 140. He's at catch-weight now but not willing to fight at a full 147.

I think Prograis, Ramirez, Garcia (if he commits to the weight), Postol would all be clearly ahead of him and defeat him handily. Lipinets, Relikh and Flanagan I think would all defeat him too and with the exception of Flanagan (who's not fought there yet), they all have a better case than him at the weight.

Adrien Broner: Mayweather with a tenth of the skill.
One of the most obnoxious guys in the sport. He gets handily beaten every time he steps up.

I don’t see how those guys are ‘clearly’ ahead of Broner, the guy just drew to a highly ranked welterweight ffs

Did Broner not fight Mikey at 140? If so, he can clearly make the weight.

You need to find a new bar...

Perhaps it is, but I don’t think he has a particularly likeable character. For entertainment value in the ring though there aren’t many better.

I do think there's an element of that, even with AJ too.

With Kahn though I also think there's an element of frustration with him. He was the big British hope and pretty much universally loved here until the Prescot debacle. Brits do turn on their sports stars very quickly if they fail to live up to the ridiculous hype that gets poured on them.

Kahns a bit gobby too which can come across as arrogant. I think a big part of hearns remit is to rebuild his character over here having fought stateside for so long.

Khan is great at catching opponents off balance with his bursts of punches, not necessarily hurting them but almost stunning them, like the first knockdown vs Lo Greco.

There is vulnerabilities there in Khan's defense. It's possible Khan could be hurt but could last the 12 rounds and if he lasts the 12 rounds, I'd fancy him on points. Look at the Maidana fight. I think it's a closer fight than many people think.

Quite a lot.

Khan's race makes him a figure of hate for a lot of people. Then other (genuinely non-racists) get swept up in the tidal wave of group think.

All those saying they can't pinpoint the reasons for their dislike are really just following the crowd. And, in my experience, you're right to say that that crowd in largely being led by EDL types. But because the crowd has got so big, those at the back can't see who's leading them. It's sad that it's got to this stage.

Khan's race probably plays a part for some people I'm sure it does but it's not just that I don't think. He has come across as a bit of a dick in the past as well. There is legitimate reasons people dislike him I'm sure not just cos of the colour of his skin. I don't really mind him either way but his celebrity status and his playing up to it hasn't helped him win over some fans.

One of my friends went to his fight some years back, the screams of Pa*i and other racist nonsense was out of control. Yeah he is overrated, he is arrogant but so is every boxer but a lot of hate he gets is also due to his race and religion. There are a lot of other gobby boxers who are British yet don't get half the dislike as him.
