The MMA thread

Hmmm, it's almost like McGregor is a scumbag with a cocaine habit. Who could have guessed?

To this day I still can’t believe that that moment this references even happened

Yeah it's quite something. Makes it that much more hilarious when Gazza tells it. It's not funny really. It's sad. But you can't help it!

What a waste of oxygen McGregor is.

He seems genuinely disgusted with Conor but is still vague about ever doing business with him again. Should’ve just said there and then he’s never allowed to fight in the UFC again.

He's a business man after all. Mike Tyson bit someones ear off and he stepped inside the ring again. People tend to forgive.

It's a bad move for Conor from fighting point of view though. Being out of the cage for so long will be detrimental. I predict it'll be another 500 days before he's back.

He's still a promoter at the end of the day. He's saying all the right things and he is no doubt angry at McGregor right now. But in the back of his mind he's probably already thinking this is great build up for a potential McGregor Khabib fight in a few months time. This will be all over the news everywhere.

McGregor is a fecking idiot for this though, it's going to cost him a shit load of money.

Yeah jj is different game all together. It's all about technique. I mean there is no fecking way you're getting out of a lock unless you can lift the opponent up with your joint. I'm thinking of going to Gracie in Belfast. Havent made the plunge yet as I'm super unfit at the minute and I don't want to embarrass myself as a former student of Judo.

With Judo it's different. Russian Judo took over Japanese Judo, for a time, primeraly because Russians were so agressive and relied less on technical aspect but on raw power. I'm not sure how it is now, I haven't read or studied shit in years.
Yeah the worst part is the bruises. I used to do all that jumping on handrails and just hacking myself at the skatepark or jumping off building and stuff and I’ve never bruised as much in my life. Random bruises just kept appearing on weird places.
Oh actually no there is worse, this other guy used to come and we’d roll at 5;30 am so this guy didn’t shower. He was massive, maybe 18 stone rugby looking fellow 6ft 4. He had me pinned, in no real danger there was just nothing I could do or he could really do but my face was right under his arm pit and I had to tap due to the smell. It was horrendous.
It is good fun tho and you do actually learn how to get out of locks and stuff but most of it is predicting what the person is going for. Tend to find at white belt level everyone is just going full bore trying to smash each other but the higher guys you fight they just take it easy and do every thing so slowly and patiently it’s a lot more fun.

Highly recommend it and to be honest fitness wouldn’t matter, you’ll weirdly get so much out of this plus it’ll help with flexibility.

Thug acting like a thug shocker.

This is what happens when a sick society worships and rewards degenerate scum whose made a career out of being abusive and vile - they think they can do whatever they like. And he probably can, his fans wont care about this will they?

Never been entirely sure that toxic masculinity is a real thing but the state of Irish twitter after this and the Belfast rape trial has me increasingly convinced that Ireland is fecking riddled with it...
Not exclusive to Ireland mate. Coked up men are cnuts.

How tall are you? Rolling with 6'4 guys. I know it doesn't really matter that much but acutal body mass might be a problem if you're small.

I did Judo when I was 5 and up until I was 10. Went 3-5 times a week. I wasn't anywhere near the best kids around my age but I wasn't bad either. Really fecking loved it and I remember those days fondly. Never had a bruise on me because I was just one massive bruise at the time. I did rock climbling, Ice hockey, and Judo. I have no idea where all that energy came from.

And thats the thing, I'm so out of shape and so unfit now, I can barely stretch or do warm up exercises. I know myself that it wouldn't be the best time to start. I want to maybe get myself relatively fit over the summer and go in Autumn.

I think it's just McGregor die hards now as someone pointed out earlier. The penny has dropped for most before this. The guy is a fecking moron.

What do MMA junkies think of this? PB is relatively new to UFC I think. I don't agree with him but I think a lot of people will.

No doubt McGregor played his part in UFC but there was UFC before him and now there is model for success. So does UFC really need him anymore?

A lot of his fans will probably think it's great given that quite a lot of them are the highest grade of moron our fine nation has to offer.

Also, if we're being honest, this makes any future fight between Khabib and McGregor huge business. I'm not exactly shocked that Dana didn't rule out continuing to work with McGregor.

I’m sure it’s not exclusive to Ireland. Just been a hordes of outrageous dickheads from Ireland all over Twitter this last week. Depressing stuff.

Ive deleted my facebook over the rape trail thing. From being ill-informed to some vile shit I've seen on my timeline.

Talking about missing the point.

And yeah I agree with you, unfortunately. It's all got the makings of a super fight from PPV point.

I killed my FB account a few months back. Done miss it at all. Tempted to give Twitter the heave ho too.

Yeah, facebook is brutal. You realise how fecking stupid some of your acquaintances are, and then you wonder - why in the feck would I keep in touch or care what they do?

Twitter, is all about following the right people. I don't follow my friends on Twitter except very close friends.

Well I’m 6ft as well but I’m just not 6ft 4 and 18stone. My mate who is the instructor tho played with that gut as well and just moved him about at will and although I know he is strong as feck still pretty impressive.

See if you are really thinking about getting in to it, might seem a bit feminate but Yoga or some sort of body balance class just to loosen you up. You’d think apart from the angles those classes would be easy. As a piss take I went to a body balance class and at the time I was seriously in to the gym basically hammering my legs with stupid stuff. Went to body balance and the next day I’ve never had Doms as bad in my life. It’s a serious workout and I’m not even kidding  however after a while it really does loosen you up and help your balance.

It's a pity Conor 3.16 didn't hit that bald head of Dana White with a chair. He'll have him back for another big fight by the end of the summer.

The UFC can survive without him but they can’t afford their competitors, namely Bellator, picking him up. He just is that big of a draw.

I admire McGregor’s rise to the top but he’s clearly becoming more and more unhinged to the point of criminality. As Chael Sonnen said I think he’s bought into his own gimmick and totally lost touch with reality. He’s truly fecked up here but will eventually fight Khabib in a record breaking fight that will make all sorts of money. The UFC are a business at the end of the day and as despicable as this situation is it would be horrible business not to capitalize.

wow wow wtf is going on!!

for a moment i thought the fight might be off, but luckily it's only Conor being a coke head.

It actually is quite lucky that all the main fights are still on track. It could easily have been Khabib or Rose who got cut up by glass, which would have a whole other level of shit.

Actually thinking about yoga but don't know where to start. It's way more daunting than it sounds.

Reading some MMA forum, those guys over there think Khabib wasn't even on the coach. How fecked up is that?

Not true according to the man himself:

On a side note, it sounds like both Max and Khabib will have a tough time making weight so we could still be in for dissapointment.

Khabib will maul him but yes, this whole charade basically confirms it. The hype has begun.

Unintentional I think. Conor is just a rabid dog at this point. Either way, Dana is thinking 18 months down the line; I've got myself the most hyped fight in UFC history.

Fair one. Never visited that forum before. Thought they might be in the know about finer details.
