The MMA thread

It depends. When I fight my first instinct is to go on the ground and on top. Then you can throw punches if need be. In a brawl with multiple people, well thats a different story, seeing as I was specifically talking about Khabib fecking McGregor up in a street fight.
It's like that Krav Maga expert dissed Gracie the other day about that basketball fight that happened. If you study a certain martial art you are always going to say it's most effective. I did Judo and it helped me in street fights so I'm always going to advocate it.
Ah you see its a misunderstanding. I did say I didn't know you were talking about one on one. Lets be honest, I don't think it would ever be anyway.
Well buddy, if you're a judo martial artist then i here by withdraw my invitation to test the theory!

He's probably coked up to high heaven.

I know Eddie Bravo said Tony Ferguson smokes a bit when he's not in camp or if he hasn't a fight scheduled and I don't mind that.

But being on class A drugs as a sports person is a different story imo. And at this point you'd think he was definetely on the hard stuff.

The money, the drugs, surrounded by yes men like Cian Cowley, Charlie Ward et al.

He's career is gone. Over. He'll get a hefty fine, multiple litigations from the fighters/UFC employees he injured, and I bet NYSAC give him a multiple year ban which every athletic commission upholds.

What an embarrassment. From a hero to scumbag.

Yeah thats what I was talking about one on one. And yeah I haven't did Judo in 18 years now, but I still remember most of the throws. Did it 3 times a week in Russia.

PS - my technique and execution must be fecking terrible now.

This point was probably when he jumped the cage in Bellator or whatever event it was and tried to fight the ref.

There’s one promoter that’ll take him on

Is he really on the gear though? I've heard stories but nothing concrete apart from acting a maggot. He could always be a maggot though.

Wtf McGregor, fecking tit. He could just happily live out the rest of his life with his wife and newborn baby with cash to spare but I really think he’s just trying to stay relevant without fighting again.

I really hope he gets punished appropriately for this and maaaybe even learn a lesson from it, doubt it though.

Ill bet here and now he'll fight Khabib in Russia and thats it.
It'll be a test of UFC morals to stand firm and turn down one of the biggest sporting PPV of all time.

Looks like a textbook coke head if I ever did see one. Which I have. A lot. Lol.

Sorry for the TMZ link but they have the best scoop on this.. It's really fecking bad what Conor did, with video evidence like that he's in deep shit no matter how rich he is.

What link?

Khabib isnt fighting in Russia for the foreseeable. Russia is pencilled in for September, October this year I think and by the time UFC will go back to Russia Conor would be 1000 days out of the cage as I can't see him fighting this year. It's tough to see.

I can see Conor fighting in 5/6 months. Thats more than enough time for Khabib to recover.

Definitely is judging by that scouse party he ended up at for days.

Mixed with his ego and everyone becoming yes men around him since blowing up, I imagine he doesn't give a feck about anything and has lost track of reality a bit.

Khabib does Ramadan thingie. Can't remeber the details but he said he wanted time off and he just said yesterday that he wants Madison Square Garden as his next venue.

He's probably whacking rockstars into him as we speak!

Plus going to Russia wouldn't be as lucrative for the UFC since its off peak PPV hours in the US.

Plus given that the hard-core Conor fans would attend in their thousands, mixed with a lot of Russians. It would be a blood bath.

Any form of grappling is quality in a street fight if you know what you're doing. Being slammed on the floor is fecking painful and not the shit you see in the movies. People dont just get back up.
Yeah exactly if you get German suplexed on to the back of your neck and head to concrete you aren’t getting up from that. Ronda knocked out Sarah Mcmann with a hip toss. So unless you really know what you’re doing on your feet i’d Say grappling is a must. Heck it can even just stop a fight before it even begins. Fight broke out in a casino I was at and the bouncers were stretched thin and I knew the bouncers so some guy tried to volley one as he had his mate pinned so that guy was grabbed thrown to the ground and then sat on with a chicken wing. Ended the violence quickly as they were calmed down and the police arrived.

Yep. Of course being able to box or do kick boxing is going to help you but if someone pounces on you and doesn't let go it becomes a different ball game. And a lot of wrestlers are very fecking strong because they need to be, obviously. Add technical ability to trip someone up or harai goshi someone and it's over imo.

Edit: Look at Yoel Romero in his first MMA fight in Germany. He wasn't trained in stand up at all. Still he fecking mauled the guy.

He'll be cleared out. Be back fighting in cabra in 6 months for 500quid.

Dirty toe rag.
Hope they end his career

To be honest, now I really want to see him get in the cage with Khabib. Just to see him helplessly get smashed.

One of my mates is an instructor in jui Jijitsu, he competes, and I’ve rolled with him just for fun. I’d never really been to a class at the time just what I’ve watched on TV and what he has taught me but honestly my defence now is pretty good. It was just about surviving the 5 minute rounds. I’m by no means a weak person but it became evident very quickly that only some ungodly amount of strength will beat technique. He honestly just threw me about and moved me in to whatever position he wanted. It was scary how much I was just just controlled against my will

Was it really 30 guys tho Dana? No doubt about it it was more like something out of green street and basically football hooliginism. Seriously who storms a building, so what he made your mate look a twat, as Dana said you want to sort it out, your job is literally fighting and getting paid for it. It is just disgusting, not only that there is a good chance he has ruined the card for others. chiesa,Cacceras, possibly Rose(although I imagine she’ll be fine)
Could you imagine if a group had just gotten off the bus and started swinging.. bet you Connors lot would run a mile.

Yeah jj is different game all together. It's all about technique. I mean there is no fecking way you're getting out of a lock unless you can lift the opponent up with your joint. I'm thinking of going to Gracie in Belfast. Havent made the plunge yet as I'm super unfit at the minute and I don't want to embarrass myself as a former student of Judo.

With Judo it's different. Russian Judo took over Japanese Judo, for a time, primeraly because Russians were so agressive and relied less on technical aspect but on raw power. I'm not sure how it is now, I haven't read or studied shit in years.
