Ten Hag sacked | Ruud appointed Interim Manager

Thank you for the two trophies. I really liked this guy, but 11 points in 9 PL matches is just unacceptable. I'm not sure if we can find the right person, just like we did in the past 11 years. This club has been cursed.

Shaw, Rashford, Lindelof and Dalot are the only ones to have been here a while and outlived several managers.

Most of the others have had about 2 permanent managers here at most, and there's loads in the squad now that have only known ETH as manager. It's such nonsense when morons talk about "the players getting 4 or 5 managers the sack"

This 14th in table is bit over the top as the difference between 14th and 7th is just 3 points
but he deserves to be replaced based on how we are playing and unable to get the best out of players after signing so many players by his choice

It's bizarre. You still see people on here saying it! And when pointed out how many players are actually left they just ignore you and carry on tooting that same exhausted horn.

Yeah I seen that a lot last season. Some fans just can't compute that maybe the manager is mostly to blame.

Problem is 7th isn't really acceptable and if you make the same move 3 points down the table we'd hovering above the relegation zone.

Right choice to terminate his contract, although I feel it should have been done sooner. The club and the expectations were simply to big for him and it was evident in the end when he saw draws against Porto and Fenerbache as success stories, small club mentality that. Good luck to him and thanks for a few nice memories.

Based on your own ingrained negativity. What is the point of bothering with "supporting" this club with this attitude? Seems a big old waste of time to me.

You don't have to be deluded and overly positive, but christ if you can't see a bit of hope on the horizon, I'd just....stop watching.

You got that right. Supporting this team for past decade has been a gigantic waste of time. However, some would say that expecting a turnaround in half a decade is an optimistic outlook.

This will not change a thing. Man Utd is a broken club. Players and coaches who get here since SAF retired automagically drop in quality. It is a crazy thing. Ten Hag off course had to go, but we are gonna suck for at least another half a decade, possibly longer.
Bollocks. No one is entitled to win things. We constantly hear how difficult it is to get to the top and stay there otherwise any old club could dominate without even trying. We won't get back there over night but we will get back there because everyone wants it to happen and United are destined to be there. Put it this way, we'll do it in less than 30 years like Liverpool.

Sorry but I've always really disliked talk like this. Even now, at a real low ebb we are 14th. In a 92 team league structure. If supporting 14th is a gigantic waste of time then what is it supporting the remaining 78, or any of the non-league teams.

We've won FA cups, league cup, and a UEFA cup. It's not where we have been the prior 20 years, and it's not where a team as big, who have spent as much, as Man United, should be, but we are still in a privileged position.

I mean, Liverpool has put a really high bar when it comes to a high-profile team not winning a league title, but Man United appears to be committed to break all Liverpool records - why not that one as well?

No that was the honey spell that started to end around about the final of a cup big teams don’t really care too much about
We played Villa burnely Charlton all at home and then forest in the semi final
But hey, you’re right taking us from 4th to 14th and wasting all our money deserves more time

For the record I don’t hate him, I just think he’s a very poor manager, don’t need to hate the guy for that. He seems a nice bloke, just a shite coach
I didn't say that. That was more of a parody on your logic. I was just saying he deserves some credit for delivering us couple of trophies which you seem hell bent on dismissing as being lucky and nothing to do with him.

Never truly wanted him in the first place and didn't understand the hype. Was more pleased that we moved on from Ragnick than acquiring Ten Hag but he will always be a trophy winning United manager so gotta give him appreciation for that. Made some strange decisions. I never understood why he came to United and didn't bring his Ajax style, citing we dont have the type of players and are more suited to transition when he signed a significant portion of our players.

Quality control
The Brentford 4-0 was the end of him. 2 games in. Also barely scored a goal against a big team away from home let alone get a win. Bye fraud.

I think he was fortunate yes if he was a decent manager we wouldn’t be 14th and 8th previous season

Whoever it is needs to quickly replace Rashford and Shaw with leaders (with footballing quality of course) and retain Bruno as one of our options as opposed to the main man.

I think Bruno is fine - we've just elevated him beyond what he's supposed to be. In Portugal he's a key player, but not everything goes through him, and he does just fine. When he doesn't, he gets subbed. That's how it should be.

He might be a passion merchant, but he's not a leader.

This bit made me laugh

"This correspondent continued to receive abusive and barely coherent emails from the close relative of an experienced United player last season"
I laughed at that. Some of the stuff on the players though- again it doesn't reflect well if true, and at the same time obviously the manager had to go and wasn't good enough. I think we can all probably make a guess at the player who has family members and hangers-on being obnoxious.

When's his first presser? Usually on MUTV but nothing?
Not sure there will be one for Leicester. Ten Hag actually recorded one after the West Ham game, but thats not going to be used for obvious reasons. Farily sure the plan is there will not be another one, the obligation was met. Honestly it would just be a distraction for him, it would all be about Amorim and Ten Hag. Best he just focuses on getting a result.

Was found out pretty quickly. What works at Ajax, may not at United.

His "everyone's best mate" management style felt very Brent-like.

The least said about his petty quarrels in press conferences the better.

Could easily compile a list of the 10 worst moments under him, but would struggle with the 5 best.

Ten Hag isn't the first manager who's left Ajax and been found out and he won't be the last. It happened to De Boer and Bosz before him. Some managers just can't make the step up to the highest level.

I'm 90% sure we'll find ourselves in a similar spot with the next manager. At some point, we are going to have to commit like we're married and hoping to survive a lull. No realistic replacement is turning this around in 2 seasons, even Pep would do well to do that.
I disagree with the last sentence a lot

There are, and have been over these 11 years, managers who I believe would have taken us to another level.

Unfortunately our vacancies always seem to come when there’s nobody obvious. Mourinho kind of was, but even then everyone knew 2-3 years was the absolute maximum you’d get, and he’d just left Chelsea 1 point above relegation.

We've won only 11 LEAGUE GAMES IN 2024.

That's from January 2024 to November 2024

Quite a few saying that on Reddit too.

Loving this CORPORATE BRAND (it's not a football club) is like having a substance addled loved one. The diagnoses is terminal. Love them at your own peril.

Oh I definitely think it can be turned around in two seasons.

But it requires good, consistent, decision making and a bit of luck(less injuries).

It's not some insurmountable task. The failings and baffling decisons of the previous managers have just made it seem that way.

So considering he was a Ineos appointment, you think he's being kept on or leaving after the new manager comes in?

This can't possibly be true.
If it is, I can't believe that ETH was allowed to continue for so long.
I guess standards and expectations have fallen quite low.

I’m really annoyed he was allowed to sell McTominay before he left. Properly bled United and doing very well at Napoli.
