Steven Gerrard

''Goal difference could be a major factor in who goes through and who doesn't.''

Head-to-head decides - to start with anyway.

In what way different? It was still eleven against eleven and playing two "massive fixtures" in five days wasn't uncommon at all. In 1977, Liverpool were going for the treble. They won the league and faced United at Wembley before flying to Rome for the European Cup final a few days later. Paisley put his strongest side out at Wembley to face us and had no qualms about it.

This forum is funny at times, but you are a Liverpool fan on a United forum so what do you expect? I imagine that we'd come in for the same sort of flak if we went on a Liverpool forum. Of course you should believe and say that your team can challenge for the league. What Liverpool fan would say otherwise?

The fact that back then they didn't have 25 man squads to use is completely different. I didn't say two massive games in a short space of time was uncommon then either.

You're probably right about that. Seems a very odd thing to do and I doubt that Gerrard is happy with it. Players like that live for this type of game.

Rodgers wouldn't do it if the players weren't somewhat content with it. I'd imagine if he told them that they were going to target one of the two fixtures then most of the players would want to do Chelsea after last year.

When you put it like that.. Lol

They still have a slight chance to qualify for the next round, and you gotta test yourself against the best. I don't understand the logic in resting your best players for a fixture like this. Bizarre

Er, yes we do and even if we get tonked tonight that doesn't change.

So bulking up the squad with "squad players" over the summer in order to cope with the extra fixtures of Champions league and then resting players in arguably the biggest of all those fixtures :wenger:
Makes perfect sense, especially if your looking for an excuse for the team not being able to cope.

Brendan's already on the touchline, shouting "Hola! Doritos!" at anyone who looks vaguely Spanish.

There’s just no getting away from the slip which let in Demba Ba to score for Chelsea and all but end Liverpool’s title hopes for Steven Gerrard.

The Reds skipper is due to line up against the Blues for the first time since his costly error in April when the Blues travel to Anfield tomorrow lunchtime.

And while Gerrard will be fully prepared for a barracking from the travelling supporters, he won’t have been banking on being mocked by a horse 90 miles away in Doncaster.

But Gerrard’s Slip will be running in the 12:40 tomorrow, just five minutes before Liverpool kick-off against Jose Mourinho’s men at Anfield.

I cracked up at the Sturridge goal, screamer from 30 yards, all Everton's fault.

Mess of an individual

You can absolutely guarantee that he is going into the media when he finishes playing and can you imagine how bitter he is going to be? It's going to be like rolling Hansen, Lawrenson and Souness in burnt coffee beans, dousing them in Campari, serving on a bed of chicory and garnishing with burnt hair.

Well, he was a "pundit" last year for Sky and said he was loving our downfall...

But, the whole "out on the piss, celebrating the league title" thing cushions the blow to anything that mess says

Worst thing is, I've been at matches where Danny Murphy has mugged us, yet, I've more time for him then this big time Charlie.....Tosser, utter tosser

Those vids a brilliant. From what I've seen on RAWK and the dribble I've heard from Liverpool fans his commentary is exactly what I'd expect to hear in a Liverpool supporting household or pub.
