Steven Gerrard

Gerrard at his age right now is a dream for opposition managers. Apart from set pieces, hes not running games. He doesnt have the runners for the hollywood balls, if he plays DM, you put a player on him to nullify him and if hes in an advanced position he cant do 90 minutes there.

Yet hes captain so has to play a lot and will do so.
 
When was the last time he scored a long ranger from open play?

Takes plenty of shots still but most of them are sliced, or comfortably goes into the keepers hands. Now a lot of Liverpool players are toothless but it was getting ridiculous today. I sometimes think he does it to make up for having a poor game or making a bad moment too often.

He had a good first half. He does it when he can see that we aren't going to score. Rather he (our best finisher bar Sturridge) attempted them rather than Rickie fecking Lambert and Mario Balotelli.

Lambert was good at this sort of thing at Southampton. He was rounded footballer. He doesn't fit the system and the two of them are being made a mockery of with the selections. Why buy both when you prefer to have attacking midfielders filling the entire forward line?
 
Gerrard should have chinned Costa. It would have done for more his legacy than a shitty League Cup medal. Costa's a nightmare.

I'd be interested to see the stats on his shots from outside the box for the past season or 2. Conversion rate must be horrendous and I expect even his shots on target are a very low percentage of his overall attempts.

I think good is stretching it, and he was anonymous the second half. Don't let that put you off believing though.

Yeah more and more they seem to be miles off.

He was pretty bland in the first half except for that sublime pass to... Moreno? and then faded really badly and became a liability. He does more bad than good on a pitch nowadays, which is fine by me.

Costa's hardly Brock Lesnar. Henderson, Skrtel and Gerrard all confronted him at different points of the tie and he did feck all.

Top class wind up merchant though. Would be adored at Anfield.
 
I'm still watching this Gerrard doc, waiting for Geoff Shreeves to pop up and ask him about Demba Ba.

Oh, it's finished. I'm not even kidding when I saw that they didn't show a single clip from or even mention a single premier league game.

Haha, agreed. He would have bowed out a hero to all and sundry, a real true hero of the people that would be befitting of the odes and poems RAWK canonise him in.
 
Costa is not a hard man, he's a coward.

The whole spit-gate thing with Ramos and Pepe just shows what kind of character he is.

However unfortunately he also happens to be one of the very best strikers in the world and will be leading Chelsea to trophies.
 
I used to think Stevie G was alright until he handed Chelsea the league title in 2010, now I absolutely love it when he fecks up.

He's an absolute bastard but I'd kill to have in my team. He's brilliant.
