Steven Gerrard

Those vids a brilliant. From what I've seen on RAWK and the dribble I've heard from Liverpool fans his commentary is exactly what I'd expect to hear in a Liverpool supporting household or pub.

It's perilously close to the real thing while also succeeding in being completely stupid and over the top. Brilliant stuff.

I still can't believe the slip happened. It's probably the cruelest event I've ever seen in football. Everyone knows Gerrard's gonna be thinking about that moment until the day he dies. There's no chance of him winning the league with Liverpool before he retires now.

Oh, and

This.
Everything was going in their favour. They were playing well, scoring sh!tloads, they were getting everything go their way, like Suarez not getting a second booking for a horrific dive at City, you had Kompany shanking that ball out for someone (I forget who) to smash a once in a lifetime volley in. You had Skrtel handling blatantly in the 93rd or so minute of the same game. You had them getting penalties galore.

City were just about getting a draw from Sunderland at home, as Wickham went on a mad career best few game run rucking up all of Pool's rivals. Borini, on loan from Pool doing similar.

Then the scene was set. All the frustrated fans lining the streets hours before kick off "we're gonna win the league". All their past legends, Dalglish, Rush, Carragher, Lawrenson, Hansen, all wearing their best court suits. Pretty much only needing a draw against completely demotivated, reserve team fielding Chelsea.

Then Stevie slipped :lol::lol::lol:

He's absolutely going to score today, you jinxing bastards.

Even if he scores a triple hatrick, they're still miles off Chelsea, and they're still not getting near winning the league.

It wasn't a reserve team.

No?

This was the lineup

No Hazard, Terry, Cahill, Willian, Ramires in the starting line up?

Kalas, Salah starting?
Cole getting a rare start for last season.
Mikel starting
Ba getting a run out?
Schurrle wasn't a regular.
Schwarzer?!

It was a piss take lineup that got everyone on the redcafe severely waiving the white flags.

Chelsea
  • 23 Schwarzer
  • 28 Azpilicueta
  • 03 Cole Booked
  • 12 Mikel
  • 02 Ivanovic
  • 33 Kalas
  • 21 Matic
  • 08 Lampard Booked
  • 19 Ba (Torres - 84' Booked )
  • 15 Salah Booked (Willian - 60' )
  • 14 Schürrle (Cahill - 77' )

It's Barney. What do you expect? Lucky you he didn't say Chelsea had put their strongest team on pitch.

Great summary. It was Coutinho scoring that goal but I wouldn't call it a once in a lifetime volley. It sounds better so it's fine.

If only you could squeeze in Crystanbul somewhere in the end but yeah, don't want to take the spotlight off Stevie Me do we?

There will definitely be a dramatised version done in years to come.
It's the English football equivalent to this:

...which cost the Boston Red Sox, who also had a Liverpudlian-like growing desperate attachment to winning the title, the World Series.

Check out the first comment under that Youtube clip:
"I heard that a week after the world series, Buckner tried to kill himself, he jumped in front of a bus, but the bus went between his legs."

Gerrard is virtually in the same situation of ridicule. For ever. There are other players I would wish it on before him.

I hope this goal extends his run in the team.

Played well in the final 10 mins and got a good goal to be fair to him.

That's curtains for Stevie G in terms of champions league...

Gerrard just now: "We will dust ourselves down and we go again"

He is capable of scoring in moments like this and something which he has done throughout the career makes him great player, apart from his otherwise good playing ability, but this also make people think he is better midfielder than Scholes, which is absurd.

He actually played quite good after that goal, I didn't think that he still got it in him.

Starfish

He got it in didnt he

"We'll dust ourselves off and GO AGAIN.":lol::lol:

We are fecked if he retires or leaves us. Absolutely fecked.

Not really if you have a good enough overall squad. He was superb towards the end tonight and managed to rally the side, so to speak, but if you work at trying to put together a better team for next season, you can survive without him since he's looked as if he's getting a bit past it.

Should have gone to Chelsea for his peak years when he had the chance.

Absolutely shit the whole match, scores the FK and they'll hand him the contract.

Thank feck for it.

Ahh Kostur. You always amuse me. You cry whenever anyone calls a United player poor or says anything bad about them, yet you do the exact same thing to every non-United player.
