There is a reason every coach who's had him so far liked him, Hopefully we get to utilize him in his best position.

All those coaches ended up being sacked for not being good enough to be fair.
I recognize this is needlessly contrarian.

White text :p
Anyway it says more about the state of our club and higher management than it does for mctom.

As long as we focus on McFred with the idea that new midfielders change this team, we will be in exactly the same position. Anyone not notice that the list is growing of 'not good enough'? Maybe we have to think, maybe the leadership and decisions made aren't good enough irrespective of who plays in any position.....the issues are much more entrenched

obviously insufficient reasons to have him a regular starter as the performances on the pitch are very average. The best thing about him is his passion to play for the shirt - rare these days. But from quality perspective, he is average and should not be considered a long term first choice. A back up player? yes surely, but not a regular starter

How many people here think McTom can get a spot in teams like Chelsea, City, Liverpool, etc. He has nothing special in his repertoire, decent squad player at best, would play him in cup games against lower league/non-league sides. It's astounding that some people here think he's good enough to be part of a starting 11 competing for the PL title...
De Gea is the only player who would have a chance of getting a spot in any of these teams.

Future captain my ass.

This guy doesn't have any positional sense what so ever. Just watch his position whenever the other team is in possession of the ball. No defensive awareness... When we have the ball, he hides behind the opposition players. Never makes himself available to receive the ball. Yes, he scores the occasional goal or two, and sometimes runs with the ball, but that's it..
Never a starter.

Hope he's at United for a long time in a role like that of park, oshea etc. A very good player on his day but probably too much to expect from here he'll develop into being a regular starter

......& yet he's been a regular starter under 3 managers now. Who knew?!

Thing is I feel he would be seen as a much better player if he was more of a bit-part squad player. Currently he's too inconsistent. If he was played in order to do a job and played kind of 1/3 games, he's the kind of player that would always rise to being given a chance.

He is future captain material for me, just not for man utd. He has everything needed except the required talent.

6th of one half a dozen of the other surely.

If he's a regular starter, he's good enough to be a regular starter. No?

Not if talking about where you want United to be. Ie near top and competing. Start dan James every week and it doesn't mean he's good enough

Brentford 1:3 Man Utd
Those forward runs with the ball today were absolutely beautiful to see. Want more of that

Another of his "1 good game in 10"

Just how many games does he play a season?

Poor first half but very good second half. Unfortunately those performances like the second half are few and far between

Was rubbish in the first half but unplayable in the second, got to be a mentality thing with him surely? There’s some genuine ability there with his physique.

Fantastic all game I thought. Great forward pass to ronnie for greenwood's goal

I was even saying in the first half when we had control he looked very good.

Man of the match for me tonight.

Excellent on the ball all game. Don't remember him giving it away.

Not sure what it means that he was the 6 and we got counter attacked all game.

Invisible in the first half. A lot better once we took the lead in the second half.

More space appeared then and that is when McTominay plays better, but you don't get that in most games.

Hes had a streak of very decent games for us we missed him against Villa came back and picked up where he left off. Super disrespected and under appreciated by many.

Superb 90mins was only one fighting first half and second half came through and bossed it.

Solid performance. Turned into Viera with that ball carrying.

Good game from him tonight. I don't think his defensive positioning as a no.6 is great but he did well there and played a big part in winning the ball back for 2 of the goals.

If we can find a genuinely good DM and play him as one of the two 8s in front of that 6 I think he could be really good. He is really good if he can press higher up and has the license to go forward as well. So him next to Bruno and a quality DM behind those two could be really great imo.

Just wanted to write the same. Dominated it but was absent at the start. Solid 4th or 5th choice midfielder in a good team IMO.
