You called this "western media hysteria" on 5th of March. And in Phuket you said nobody was doing anything and didn't seem to care at all. You have gotten this totally wrong.
Whether I'm right or wrong on this doesn't matter at all. I'm not an expert on this subject and certainly not offering the Government or anyone else advice.
There was very little incidence in the sleepy part of Phuket I was in, yet people were already wearing masks, and had stopped incomings from China long before. Bangkok was taking it more seriously at the time. Everything changed when Imperial report came out.
Singapore, KL etc entered lockdown over a week before UK. with far less incidence than UK had when they entered lockdown.

I agree with you to a degree, but let us just wait and see what happens, in the coming months. Being a Christian I have been expecting there to come a time when the whole world becomes evil and when people have to have some kind of mark or whatever to be able to remain a part of society. Could it be a vaccine? I have no idea. But I do know that the World is going to be different from now on.
Western media did become 'hysterical' in early March, having been relatively calm about the threat upon themselves during February. That the hysteria ended up as justifiable doesn't negate that. And as I stated, the part of Phuket I was in was very calm. Also, according to you I wrote my initial post on 5th March. UK Lockdown happened on 23rd. Alot happened in those 2 weeks, including my own views.
Anyways, aside from some bizarre point scoring that I dont understand, I'm not sure what you think I said or didn't say is of importance. But chalk up a point if you must.

I know of someone (a doctor) who collected orders from other local doctors via some facebook group and placed an order for 2000 KN95 masks from China.. got the shipment in a few weeks and they were labeled KN 95 on the box but turned out to be general surgical masks.

The number of care home residents who have died of suspected coronavirus may have reached 7,500, according to the latest estimate, The Telegraph has learned.
New data collated by Care England, the country's largest representative body for care homes, suggests the number of deaths from Covid-19 is far higher than its previous estimate of 1,400 from earlier this week.
The number is also far in advance of the official figure from the Office for National Statistics (ONS), which has recorded 217 care home deaths from the virus up to April 3 – the most recent date for which official data is available.
However, as the Government published its daily update on coronavirus hospital deaths on Friday, which showed a rise to 14,576, it emerged that the death toll in UK care homes is suspected to be much bigger than previously feared.
Professor Martin Green, the chief executive of Care England, told The Telegraph that around 7,500 people may have died in care homes as a result of the virus.
"Without testing, it is very difficult to give an absolute figure," he said. "However, if we look at some of the death rates since April 1 and compare them with previous years' rates, we estimate a figure of about 7,500 people may have died as a result of Covid-19."
Care England, which represents around 3,800 homes and more than 50,000 residents, gathered data by "taking a sounding" from its homes.'
