SARS CoV-2 coronavirus / Covid-19 (No tin foil hat silliness please)

Just finished a 12 hour shift. It finally happened.

A patient on the ward started developing symptoms. High fever, dry cough. He's been under my care since last Thursday. Getting swabbed tonight - so hopefully it's negative otherwise I'll be off work for 14 days.

We had a confirmed case on the weekend, and I saw the chest xrays of this poor gentleman when he presented to A&E and then 12 hours after when he deterioriated.

fecking hell - can see why people die from it. That shit obliterates.

Fingers crossed, mate.

"Elderly 'dead and abandoned' in Spanish care homes

Soldiers tackling Spain's coronavirus epidemic by disinfecting residential care homes have found a number of elderly people abandoned and left for dead in their beds, the country's defence minister has said.

The news comes as Spain's death toll from the disease rose from 1,720 on Sunday to 2,182. The total number of confirmed cases has increased to 33,089.

"The army has seen some totally abandoned elderly people – even some who were dead in their beds,” Margarita Robles told the Ana Rosa TV programme."

Those responsible would be met with "the full weight of the law", the minister added."

Today I learned McDonald's cares more for the well being of its staff than Sports Direct.

In fact, the only place worse to work at than Sports Direct is probably the sweat factories where they make those products.

Is GAME open? They were one of the last few places open before the lockdown. Mike Ashley owns them, so he’d probably say games are essentials too.

Oh of course, let's be honest most of us knew this was coming weeks ago.

But one of the many issues in trying to prepare is the unknown in job security. If they pass this legislation through and still no help for self employed, renters or even more job protection for those who don't need laying off but have greedy bosses, I think keeping people indoors and not socialising sadly won't be the biggest problem you'll have to face.

Yep I expect public disorder and plenty of other stuff to follow. We love a good summer riot in the UK don't we!

The government need to sort the self employed out, and the other bits and pieces, then pull the trigger. There seems to be no other way from learned experience of other countries. It has to be done.

Been locked down in France for 8 days now. Really not so fecking hard. People need to dial down the drama and just be sensible. Compared to some of the shit people are having to deal with in the world, staying in your own house isn’t the end of the bloody world.

Is there anything he doesn't own?

I just had a flick through the memo sent out from the group. I'd be ashamed to put my name to that open letter even down to the people working in marketing.

Have you ever had children...?

Seriously, many (all?) children NEED to exercise everyday. Even if they're just gonna have a run around.

I'm talking kids under 16 here.

Thank you mate, much appreciated.

1) Read my post properly 2) What does having children got to do with anything?

I'm a PE teacher and as a department, we have put provisions in place which enables CHILDREN (yes, those under 16) to exercise everyday at home.

I heard from a copper yesterday that some scumbag kids went into Asda causing grief and when a staff member refused to serve them more than 3 of the same item they spat in her face.

Seriously what the feck is wrong with these “people”?
Uneducated cnuts who's parents probably fall in to the same category.

I do and it's a pretty common symptom for sinus infections or general non allergic rhinitis. My wife says i look like a neanderthal when i get them as my brows and everything swell, don't know if that's common mind you
Yeah it’s a weird one, had my eyes checked twice in last two years and all good there. Gotta tell my doc about these sinus problems once this virus blows over, sooner rather than later hopefully.

Watching the Boris Johnson address again feck he’s terrible I literally lost concentration about 3 times..

The stores are closed but still operating online.

I don't know what the british people think but looking from the outside, Boris and the government over there are doing a hell of a good job during this crisis.

They seem to be taking the right steps now, fair play to them..
