SARS CoV-2 coronavirus / Covid-19 (No tin foil hat silliness please)

I suspect because Western Governments are realising that you cannot trust us dumb feckers to take any notice of advice. For example the National Trust closed their shops, cafes and houses some time ago but made the decision to keep the grounds open and free of parking charge to allow folks to still exercise and walk the dogs etc. This morning they have had to go back on that and where they have gates to the entrances of NT properties they will be locked to prevent access purely because WE and I include all of us in that are too immoral and selfish to maintain social distancing.

And folks say it’s the governments fault. Like feck it is . It’s my fault and your fault and everyone else’s fault all because we know better.

You aren't wrong. Hell is other people.

Yeah, everyone should see the Sky reports from Italy. They've been showing them here (or similar ones) daily during prome-time news.

As if Corona is not enough we've been struck with earthquake this morning.

My landlord in Zagreb says her house is fine, but nearby neighbours have multiple damages on houses and apartments.

And the worst is that everyone had to evacuate to outside meadow which is designated place in case of earthquake, so about 400 people were standing close to eachother without masks or any protection with virus about to hit hardest :(

Girlfriend works in the NHS so Tesco are letting them in an hour earlier than everyone else. Pasta, milk & nearly all meat gone within 5 minutes. Full of cnuts coughing as well.

Agree, I went to jog with my girlfriend (it's allowed, maximum of two) for the first time in weeks. We just ran randomly through the streets (almost no traffic never passing less of 5 yards of anyone) it was awesome.

Then later I realized most people who decided to jog were using the city shore and urban parks (the usual choices). Dumb, there's too many in there, and, like Italy, it probably won't take long until we're restricted to exercise within 200 yards of your home of people keep doing that.

India starting to go into complete lockdown from today. Railways and bus services suspended nationwide. Numbers have started to shoot up (even with very limited testing) and their are fears that the situation can get really bad really soon.

Zagreb hit with biggest earthquake in 140 years this morning, and all while nu.bers of infectwd grow there, fecking shit!

https://www.index.hr/mobile/clanak.aspx?category=vijesti&id=2167608

Some of the pictures are terrifying. Women with just born babies holding babies in front of hospitals because they said it could shake few more times, ffs.

@Black Adder hope you and others are OK!

Yeah, I'm fine, just left Zagreb yesterday, but those who've stayed there are in big problem.

Just as you've said, numbers are starting to go up, and then this shit happens, see my post above, that's just 1 example of what people were doing, imagine whole city being together outside for a several hours.

Don't even want to think about worst case scenario :(

Did you feel ti in Sarajevo? I know that Slovenia was hit as well.

Today's numbers look dubious too. We're in deep trouble.

So what's going on here? Germany has halved the number of new infection compared to the previous day. Either just luck or social distancing works really well there. Bans on going out are only just being introduced right now so that can't be it. With Austria it's more plausible the government's action are starting to show an effect as they acted much earlier.
Probably haven't updated all the cases. And there is variation how many tests are done in a day and so on. Have to look at it with 2-3 day intervals. The numbers in germany will still increase for a while. Measures take 10-14 days to have an effect

It’s hardly a surprise. Cummings and his belief in eugenics was known way before this

Don't be so bloody stupid. This virus doesn't target the people that Tories hate. It probably targets their supporters more than it hits whoever Cummings might despise.

UK is finally this week going to realise the true brunt of this pandemic. The mixed messages from the government will come to roost and we will have 500+ people die in the UK this week from Covid . If the government and public manage to get their act together then there is still a possibility to stop the madness that will happen 3-4 weeks from now but for the next 3 weeks we are pretty much screwed now. UK had the chance to learn from Italy but we did nothing and we will get it worse than Italy soon

Feck, it looks awful. No, I am actually not in Sarajevo at the moment, closer to Zagreb actually (Tesanj), but haven't felt anything here.

I hope you guys will get through it!

I don't understand the logic of stopping people from going out for a run. Italy and France have stopped people from doing this.

Me neither. I go for a long walk/hike around 5-6pm every day for about 2hrs. I do this big loop that starts in residential areas, which are dead as expected, continues into the hills and then back down through residential areas. I see a good few people in the hills area, walking dogs, jogging or simply walking but at an extremely safe social distance. We don't come within 5-10ft of each other, at the very least. People need to be able to keep active and get fresh air as well as break the monotony of being in the same room from 8am-5pm every day.

There is a huge difference between this and 10-20 people sitting in a pub getting drunk together. It's also impossible to police - unless the government is planning on situating 2-3 police officers up in the fecking mountains of a tiny South Wales mining town from 8am-10pm at night or something, people will continue to exercise in that area.

In France you can still exercise as long as you go individually and stay within 1 to 2 km of your home and stay out for up to 20 minutes. The point is to keep people apart not to imprison them. As long as people respect this then the restrictions may not get more severe but that depends on the responsibility of individuals.

UK slow to react, an enforced lockdown akin to China from today would be to late, people forget, that wouldn't make a difference for potentially 2 weeks and the UK does not have the capability or capacity to pull something like that off.

Supplies are running low now, some places are overwhelmed *now*.

Had plenty of time to react, buck stops with the government.

Government has been reactive this entire time.
Those still defending the government seem to of forgotten King Boris's 'Take it on the fecking chin' comment

Why do celebrities feel the need to speak up about matters way outside their fields of expertise? On here & elsewhere, as a non-famous person, I can afford to recklessly give my opinion on things; but if I was famous, there's no way I'd inflict my ignorant and naive views about serious matters onto the public.
It's silly. The only celeb I've seen coming out with something remotely sensible is Britney Spears :)

Yeah, looks and sounds very worrying by the state of it.

Thanks man, hope there'll be minimal damage in the end.

Yesterday was a special day. Our gov made us understand that if our population still don't listen to the measures on saturday, there will be a full enforced lockdown. And most cities did listen, most people stayed at home. Maybe because of this fewer people got tested? Because our social distancing has been poor until yesterday, so that can't be the reason.

In a few hours our gov will meet to discuss the enforced lockdown/curfew.

Agree that the two don't corrolate. But his quotes make me think he felt allowing the virus run rampant was a price worth paying since it is only killing old people. Rather than shutting down the economy.

I've headed back home with the parents for a week or two - but wasn't aware my Mum still has to go to work tomorrow as a housing officer. Will still be travelling around the estates she looks after meeting people, showing them around houses etc. It's infuriating that local government of all employers are taking such a fecking stupidly lax approach to this. They should be setting an example and forcing their employees to work from home.

It makes self isolation for me, my brother and Dad seem a bit pointless. Will have to be careful not to spread to other friends/family should anyone get symptoms.

So far, no reason not to eat better around here. You have more time to cook and fresh fish is at 1/3 normal price (fishermen can't export as easily so they sell their catch here). Fresh produce is also cheaper, as most producers usually sell it to large supermarket chains which are now unable to sell as much, so they are cropping up at great prices in cornerstone shops, etc.

“those present” and including quotes, why do people share such trash? I mean, I get why scumbag Morgan does it but...

Kin ell man, the UK government won’t be going to prison ffs, as has been made clear every step of the way, they are following scientific advice.

That's from an article in the Sunday Times so it's well sourced and accurate.

Should the UK govt be lauded for taking advice from a small group for experts whose opinion differed from the rest of the world's experts?

I think it's pretty clear the UK should have taken restrictive measures sooner and had been on the wrong track.

People using this to score political points. Shouldn't be surprised though to be honest. Corbyn would have it all sorted by now no doubt.

seriously how much hoarding can fecking people do? Selfish twats. Why do this seem to be a U.K. thing?

Tesco could be classified as an essential shop but it can't operate like that. It'd make sense to have to book into grocery stores through some online booking tool - even the local barbers has that facility.

All shops need to close ASAP, but until it's enforced/compulsory they likely won't be able to claim on their business interruption insurances if applicable. Otherwise they'll be depending on the short-term support offered by the government. They're fecking both business owners and the safety of the public right now.

Nevermind career ending, he should be going to prison. That decision will cost thousands of lives.

The world is turned on its head if I'm agreeing with Piers Morgan.
They'll never make that claim stick though unfortunately.

Well, it's not like anyone could've predicted what would happen in England.

Oh wait

To be fair if that's from today then it opened at 9 for NHS and Tesco staff, however tills wont open til 10 so they'll have been a queue when it opened to the public.

Supermarkets should be closed to stop people packing in. No wonder it’s still spreading. People need to get rations and allocated time slots to go pick them up from a local center controlled by the army

I think that we have to accept that there will be casualties and the reality is that it would be better for all of us if they were limited to the old, sickest people among us. It's harsh but necessary to be pragmatic.

I went on a jog yesterday with my girlfriend. We ran through unusual streets and areas of town, almost no traffic, we didn't get less than 5 yards from other persons.

Problem: Many people went to run to their "usual" places, i.e., the city shoreline and parks. Soon you'll have more people than advised in these places.

I think Italy had to ban any exercise more than 200 meters from home because of that.
