SARS CoV-2 coronavirus / Covid-19 (No tin foil hat silliness please)

Just read about a holocaust survivor dying from Covid19. Fecking hell man, imagine surviving the holocaust and then dying from a virus never seen before. Talk about being unlucky.
What age was the person? Hardly bad luck to survive the worst genocide of mankind to pass at an elderly age to a virus?

As others as said and as I feared I think they may be telling porkies unfortunately.

Why? It's not that every country has a spike the same time? The way the graph is going for Russia they have not hit that mark yet. It's bound to rise for sure in the days to come. Now researchers think the covid virus may have come to Italy not from China but Germany. But thiat said it started in Wuhan in China.

Let me add to this. WHO says Russia has closed the border with China from January and have been testing from January. They also have put in isolation routine from January. Yet the cases may spike up as in other countries. They have also done over 156,000 tests already. That's a lot too. According to WHO they have been following the advice of WHO since January.
I would say that most countries should have put in place the testing and quarantine these countries have put in place since January.

Look at Thailand. They are crazy. They are only closing the Malls tomorrow. All these time they didn't do much to quarantine any place.

I don't have the corona virus as I have none of the symptoms but I am so ill, I didn't think it was possible literally not be able to consume a drop of water without throwing it back up. Been this way since of the middle of last night. Hopefully just a 24 hour bug.

Feel like this presumably makes me a bit more high risk, so heightening the lockdown. Fortunate that I'm in a position to work from home!
I’ve a headache and legs feel tired .
I live alone. I hope it’s just a 24 hour thing

Continuous dry cough and a fever are the ones to look out for so I’m sure you are fine. Just scary for everyone and even when I cough once I think oh feck it’s here haha.

My dad who lives alone said he was sweating during the night even though I told him he hasn’t been out of the house for 10 days and any visitors just drop him stuff at the door

I hadn't realised the significance of the median age before.

In Italy, the median age of the infected was 63 on the most recent figures I could find (March 18th).

That would explain the low death rate alright, and mean we really should at implement the proposed self isolation of the elderly, as hard as it would be on them.
Hopefully having the youngest population in Europe can save us from the worst of this

Can someone give me a quick run down on the lock down in Italy? Last I read was that most people were still going to work if not able to work from home, and social gatherings and whatnot banned.
Well Amazon.it has basically shut down tonight to give you an idea of the limitations. No more Italian films for me for a while.

The US is now 3rd for number of cases.
And that’s with very little testing per million population. Real figure is probably at least three times of reported, could be ten times that easily. New York figures are terrifying.

It's on two cases according to new sources. But that isn't confirmed.

Ya I hope so.
I guess it’s a natural reaction now to panic.

It's weird McConnell as leader of Senate is nowhere in the priority list!
It seems to end at 17 and he's not on there. Going to have to rewatch designated survivor. I'm surprised myself that's it's not VP, Senate Leader, Speaker, Cabinet. Funny his wife is on the list but ineligible due to place of birth.

So can anyone provide a link or de facto information regarding the 80% wage contribution? Who precisely gets it? If someone is in isolation and can no longer do their job remotely, will they be entitled?

Any truth to that whatsapp video claiming that drinking alcohol (having alcohol in the blood), repeals the virus somehow?
Alcohol can work as a disinfectant but I think you need over 60% to kill the virus so it would probably kill you if you drank 60% pure alcohol

I mean, if the virus crawls down your throat, wouldn't mind to have some regular wine poured down to keep it nasty for the fecker.

Seems to check out right, at least for UK and Italy, the other two at a glance look correct.

Percentage wise it has slowed down in Italy even though it doesn't feel like it.

Thanks for confirming how drunk I was/am. Spain is fkin mental.

We're actually exactly where Italy was, spookily similar. It's worth pointing out that Italy suddenly hit a horendous increase in deaths from this point onwards, so hopefully it won't be the same in the UK.

At this point Italy had only tested 42,062 at that stage. UK tested 72,818 plus.

On March 11th, Italy had tested 73,154 with 12,462 confirmed cases and 827 deaths.

Wine is 12-14% ABV. Hand sanitisers need to be 60-70% to be effective.

The alcohol concentration required to kill the virus would also kill the human.

Most of the recent focus in the West has been on Italy, Spain and France. So I thought I'd take a bit of time to look into the situation in Iran.

It's nigh on impossible to find anything in English that isn't politically motivated (usually either anti-US or anti-Iranian).

For what it's worth: 20,000 cases and 1,500 deaths. It's a humanitarian disaster that deserves to be acknowledged as more than just a political pissing contest.

USA has the about the same number of cases as Spain but 1/4 the deaths

From what I read its usually an average of 17 days from detection (or is it infection?) to death, so that number for the USA could very well spike.
