They are concerned that closing schools at this stage would lead to a shortage of nurses and doctors who would need time off for child care
Yeah but when he says it and then doesn't take the necessary steps to reduce the amount of deaths, it becomes a bit disturbing.
Why not pro-act though? Why follow the same route as countries who let it get out of hand?
We're lagging in many areas now.
Still relying on people being sensible & self-isolate.
Provide them with free daycare facilities / pay for child minding for them.

State of this government. What's the point in me working from home when the schools are staying open.

Gonna be great when literally everyone gets it because we refuse to do anything about It, then shops, restaurants etc are all closed because everyone is quarantined.
I'm sure Boris is so confident thanks to the landslide election win and majority he's got, he's pretty much come up trumps since December. He's years away from an election so he must be confident that people will have forgotten about this in 4 or so years time.

I have a cough that hasn't gone since I had a cold a few weeks ago. This doesn't class as a "new cough" so I guess I go into work. I'm also torn between being very professional and caring for my career progression and actually self isolating if I have a mild symptom :S
I think that's important but in a slightly different way. As he's so far away from an election he can just do what's right whereas other countries need to take more actions to "appear" in control.
Not enough child minders to pick up the slack and what's the point of closing a school just to send the kids to daycare?

You can only control the rate of infection,which is what the UK are trying to do.
Any symptons whatsoever people should just stay at home. Don't go in unless you are feeling tip top. All companies will have to understand that now.

Most experts in infectious diseases are saying that, if you can show me contrary evidence I would be delighted. Naturally I don't want everyone to be infected, I don't want to get it myself!
I guess they see that as a good period of containment before you pass it on and it's other people's turn to be ill.
