It's bonkers in Ireland now. I walked past a Spar earlier and there were queues out the door. The pharmacy beside it was temporarily closed with a queue outside because they were out of stock.

No that great, I would guess. Aside from all the problems it would cause within those three weeks, you'd probably just see cases spike once the three weeks are over. They're trying to reduce the impact of the virus, not just delay it.

Because the idea isn't to stop people from getting infected, which is hard bordering on impossible. The idea is to spread the rate of infection out enough that it doesn't completely overwhelm the health care system.

Even the restaurants are still open. You can happily go down to your local tomorrow for a meal and a feed of pints, you just can't do it alongside 100 other cnuts. Yet you'd swear we're in a zombie apocalypse situation.

It's not like we don't know what will happen. Also it's surely annoying for China, Italy and co who have suffered the most so far, doing the hard part but then still won't be able to fully functioning till other countries get worse and then react.
There are many, many people who have the virus, are not being tested and instead are told to go home and self isolate in the UK. This mostly applies to people who are considered to be at low risk of developing severe infection (otherwise healthy and aged between 10-50). I’m in Saigon at the moment and have been meeting with a doctor who has recently been treating a young Vietnamese girl flown by private jet from the UK, by a rich Vietnamese family following advice from the NHS that she self isolate. The family didn’t trust the advice and she’s now very sick (with Covid pneumonia), in ICU with severe lung damage in Saigon. In the UK (and everywhere else), there are many more cases than are being reported.

No they won't. There are no shortages, in fact most supermarket chains have doubled, if not tripled their warehouse stock. They just can't get them to the supermarkets fast enough right now to deal with those idiots.

You might. But many do extra work, or don't quite write the books up correctly. And anyway, this isn't a small business or tradey I'm talking about, which probably should get help, in this instance it is a privileged line of work in an already oversaturated industry done to escape having a normal job, which is fine and I fully respect it, but make sure you're getting paid enough for it to cover your own sick pay before you dump the office job despite only working weekends, and don't spend like you're never going to get ill, have unexpected issues, or have no work on. That's surely rule number one for self employed.
