Sadio Mane | LFC Player

Get the feeling that apart from his pace he wouldn't offer a significant improvement on what we already have at the club, and with the figures being quoted it seems like we should be focusing our attention elsewhere.
Any pace woule significantly improve us.

He was still better than any of our forwards.

Yeah, but overall he is not the quality we should be aspiring too. Our current level should not be an indicative of where we want to be. Koeman will be laughing his way to the bank if we splurge upwards of 20 million on this player. To be he looks like a big fish in a small pond type of player and will find it extremely hard to replicate his output for us.

All these Mane, Mahrez, Ighalo, Vardy, Gotze, Barkley are players who look good in smaller teams but would be found out, or already have been, at big clubs. We don't need to overpay for these players to add to the menagerie of mediocre players that we have collected since Fergie retired. Let's not waste another 300m and dig a deeper hole for ourselves. Either spend on upcoming top talents like Shaw and Martial, or pay the release clauses and get already proven top players like Griezmaan. We like to boast about ourselves as a top money making machine with 600m+fans in the world; let's spend 200m and get Verratti, Gundogan, Griezmann, Stones/Laporte/Marquinos & Kane.

Disappointing yesterday. Started the game brightly enough but was unable to impose himself.

Even if we signed the players you listed below we'd still need more pace on the wings!

Yep. Griezemann isn't enough IMO, and he isn't a wide player either. He can replace Rooney as a #10, but we need two quick wide players IMO.

Agree-we are desperately short of pace on the right side of midfield and Lingard is simple not good enough IMO. On the left I'd be happy going with the youngsters in Adnan, Mempshis, and Perreira next season as I believe they all have the talent to make their mark here.

On a side note I find it amazing that when I saw United play PSG in Chicago one of the best players on the field that day, if not the best, for us was Pereira and he's barely gotten a look in the epl this season. I just don't get it.

Yeah definitely. At this stage I would get only one of the two midfielders I mentioned and get a right winger with pace. Who that player is, I have no idea.

Yeah, Lingard looks like the sort of player who should be 3rd choice in his best position.

If we get two players with pace and the ability to scare defenders, it will give us three such players in the two new guys, and Martial. It's just what we need. It will give a lot of space to the likes of Januzaj and Memphis to develop and take some pressure off them when they start.

Change the manager and try Januzaj and Memphis first. They could be great.
Messi and Ronaldo would be shite under this guy.

We can sign new players and also give them chances. They don't need to start 50 games next season.

I think there are better options than Mane. Players like Mahrez, Sane, Moura as right wingers or Griezmann, James, Gotze to play behind the striker.
There a lot of hype about Sane, do you think he is better than Mahrez and Moura?

I like Mane, but he's not the level we should be looking at, that's my take.

Sadio Mane to United is not happening. We might have inquired in the summer transfer windows before we picked up Martial. So my question what does Mane bring to the plate which Martial doesn't.
The latter is a better player on all counts any day.

What he brings is that he's comfortable in a position Martial isn't.

I would like a more technically gifted winger. Someone with Martial's level of dribbling. Mane is well below that IMO.

Pep's not stupid. Why would he buy Southampton players with all that money? He's not Rodgers.

Some seem to want him to play as a RW but all he offers there is crossing, his best games have come in a free role in the 3 behind the striker in a 4-2-3-1. I think there are several better options.

He's struggled a lot since the turn of the year I think. Southampton have slowly clawed into form over the last few weeks but Mane has been fairly immaterial to that.

Probably but Martial is superior talent and can adjust. With the injury to rooney I think most of us would want Perera to get a run of games.
A start to begin with tomorrow night atleast.

I can see him as a realistic signing. As you mentioned, his best position is behind the striker. He could rotate with Mata and he would offer something different.

For the right winger we should go for Mahrez or Sane. Mane can do a decent job on the wings but it's not his best position.

My muppet signing is Griezmann but it seems unrealistic for the moment.

We need more than 1 player that can do this.

I don't think we can bring Mane in as a squad option, too expensive when the squad needs several other positions strengthening.

Decent player but one who will ultimately not serve the need for absolute quality in the first team.

For a club aspiring to get back to the very top, Mane would at best be a squad player. That being said, I am unsure of the wisdom of spending the touted £30mil plus on a squad player. If we are looking to fill squad slots we would be better off looking at potentially cheaper targets like the Eibar duo of Keko and Inui. Actually make that a trio, because their target man Baston wouldn't be half bad for a squaddie

I am surprised this guy has dropped off the radar. Smashed Liverpool the other day and clearly doesn't want to be at Southampton anymore.

He will certainly move in the summer but question is where? I rate him and he is very achievable

He's shown in the last couple of months that he isn't good enough. Has been in and out of the side. Liverpool was his first good performance in a while.
