Sadio Mane | LFC Player

Valenica was a world class athlete with an extremely limited football brain. Since for some reason he has stopped using his strengths (seems to have magically forgotten he is fast) he is as much use as a chocolate teapot.
His regression was weird. He used to be able to go past players and deliver excellent crosses -- a proper winger. Now he just runs to the corner flag and boots the ball off the nearest player's shin.

Has the most losses of possession from a poor touch in the league this season (72).

Ighalo has the 2nd most (56).

Koeman reiterates he isnt for sale and that he will start on Saturday

Worth remembering that these are the players that are the target of a high amount of speculative passes.

Koeman
"If there's any player thinking that, if his behaviour is not good and that makes it more easy [to leave], then I'll put him in the stands before the end of the contract. That's not the way to do your job as a football player."

If I were Southampton I'd want to sell more now.

They have United after him, probably willing to throw more money to get him than any other club would. In the Summer United will have more options, and possibly a new manager who will probably have different targets.

Am i missing something?

Yeah, I would definitely flog him whilst they can get good money for him. Look at Lacazettes plummeting value.

We would probably offer 30-35m with addons for him as it stands, his value will never be any higher. they would be insane not to sell him if we stump up that kind of cash. Its saido fecking mane not gareth bale.

Woodward's reaction ought to be like :

''If they (the feeder club) think that this PR behaviour is good and that it will make it more difficult to sell the player, then i'll promise to only bid on 2 players in stead of 3.''

I used to think it was Fergie instructing him to drill his crosses, but since Fergie is no longer manager, I'm wondering if perhaps Rooney may have told him that he prefers lower, drilled crosses. It surely has to be a deliberate tactic, because I just can't imagine a professional footballer simply losing the ability to hit a cross more than 6 inches off the floor.

They sit just below the Europa League spots and 5 points above the relegation battle. £30m (or whatever) for him is just not worth the risk. He's too important to them.

That confirms what I thought then. I thought he was a bit erratic and not really on full control at times. Which is funny because that was a criticism of Felipe Anderson, who I think is actually a superior technical player to Mane.

I think Koeman is absolutely right. Would be interesting if it went down that route.

They are 7-8 points below Europa League and by the evidence of this season they don't even care about Europa League. They are 7 points from relegation and should be rather safe considering the quality of some of the teams below them (Villa are already as good as gone and I can't for a minute believe Newcastle, West Brom and Sunderland will finish above Southampton).

7 points is sod all either way. Removing your most productive player is just a bad idea all round. It's not just a pure statistical equation of removing his average figures from future results, you risk upsetting the balance, the rythum and the spirit of the team.

You are right... but also other players we want have bad stats related with the lost of possession:

Most losses of possession from tackles (total):
Romelu Lukaku – Everton (56)
Harry Kane – Tottenham (54)
Memphis Depay – Manchester United (45)
Anthony Martial – Manchester United (44)
Salomon Rondon – West Brom (44)

Maybe they just try more than players like Mata with a safe pass. Sometimes those kind of players are the one who make the difference in the game.

For the reported fee Id rather spend the money on Sane I think.

Januzaj just needs to take a leaf from Ozil and bulk up. That is the only thing holding him back with his skill set IMO

His decision making also is still woeful but I agree his skill set is there. Hopefully he gains that with experience but it's not always the case.

Went to the Saints vs Palace game today, he looked like a current man Utd player, he was shit

Hopefully that will help push through a move. We need a player like Mane who can break past two three players and set us on counter attacks. Instead of pass pass pass and what do you know the opposition are back to having two banks of four or five behind the ball again. Possession is king my arse it's goals that count!

He's not a player who will improve us in the long term IMO.

I think he'll be another decent player.
he's proven star in the league, wuldnt cost much, its much lesser risk than F. Anderson who plays in shit league, we have seen how Depay struggles being the best player in similar shit league. I dont understand why people tend to underrate players in England, Mane over Anderson any day, if there is a chance to get Bale/Griezzman than get them but I highly doubt they will let them go.. midseason Mane's one of the best options.. and he's IMO more talented and IIRC younger than Valencia who was brutal for two seasons for us only to decline because of the injury and confidence issues.. Very few players play in top clubs straight away, so many needs to get there first and Mane/Mahrez might be one of them

Similar shit league? The Italian and Dutch leagues? Really? You are comparing the Itialian to the Dutch league? There are a few players in that shit league that would walk into our top 4 teams!

He'll get benched if he does that. Ask Di Maria. Even Herrera has fallen victim to this ;)
If Mane tries to create/score a goal, LVG will introduce him the philosophy of:

...pass pass pass and what do you know the opposition are back to having two banks of four or five behind the ball again.

Get the feeling that apart from his pace he wouldn't offer a significant improvement on what we already have at the club, and with the figures being quoted it seems like we should be focusing our attention elsewhere.

We need pace and trickery........we will be up against defensive walls and need players that can handle that.

you never know, he may turn out to be a decent Valencia type signing, at the same time we can try some dimaria signing and use the not proven in the premier league doesnt a shit argument. Mane is not riskier signing to someone like Gaitan/Felipe anderson imo

I'd prefer Mane over Anderson, because he is a known quantity. He'd be a decent player for us, think he has good all round quality. Definitely improve the squad considerably. But he is not THE answer, if a single answer is needed.
