Good signing for the dippers. He will provide pace, width strength and goals. If (big if) they can keep Sturridge fit, they will have good attackers there with Coutinho and Firmino

After the drudgery of Rodgers' post-suarez attack, we've really needed to improve in the final third. It's easy to forget how we couldn't buy a goal before we sacked rodgers and Klopp was having problems with it as well to start with.

I know we ended the season being the most prolific team in the league since january, but we've been in dire need of more quality and quality spread out over more than two players. Basically this just about puts us where we ought to have been after we sold Suarez.

If you can improve defensively, (new LB, and another CB to replace Skrtel and Toure) you will mount a challenge for top 4 next season

No doubt he would have been the player we would have signed at RW had LVG got another year at United

If Matip and Karius turn out to be good, the effect will be massive. We really are giving ourselves so much more to do than we should be by conceding silly and easy goals.

I think we have a good chance of top 4. Needs the Klopp effect though, with a team that becomes more than the sum of its parts. I think he is getting the parts he wants though. And with no European football, Klopp will have the extra training hours he so lamented not having last season.

Liverpool chased Mkhitaryan for the better part of 2 years, now we sign him and they pay potentially 15mil more to sign Mane instead. :D

He's no Reus but Liverpool doesn't have bigger choice at this stage so Mane will be useful and Klopp knows how to use that kind of players.

As for United not participating in the chase, gotta feeling Mourinho would probably favour a bit more creative & elegant option in Mahrez.

I always said if Mou doesnt want him, i am fine with that. He saw a few times how he ripped his Chelsea team apart, so if he thinks there are better options, Mkhitaryan for example, great.

I think we left it too late with our bid at the end of last Summer, then Southampton told us he wasn't for sale in January.

One that got away, could you imagine our pace with Martial, Mané and Rashford breaking, we'd be lethal.

I don't profess to know alot about him, but from the little I've seen of him he comes across as quite a limited, inconsistent player? Has all the speed and power to beat a man and can score goals, but another Nani in his consistency? Or similar to Valencia in being so direct on the ball you can almost read what he's gonna do?

In that respect, I'd much rather Miki for £8m cheaper and being so much more creative on the ball aswell as possesing the pace to get inbehind the defence. For £36m i would be hoping for a game changing player similar To Sturridge or Kanes ability and potential but I can't see it? But i suppose when you consider the price they got for Sterling and they are similar players i suppose its a fair deal in todays market. Especially seeing though they will struggle to attract players in the tier above for that price like Miki seeing though they don't have europe or anything.

Never got on the Mane bandwagon. Seems a good player, but £30 is too rich for him in my opinion, but understandable based on his success with Southhampton. I guess I was just never really sold that he'd take it to the next level at a big club.
I disagree, 30 quid is an absolute steal for Mane.

That's a big chunk of Liverpool's transfer budget gone. I wonder who else they plan to sign this summer.

Maybe you're forgetting outgoings? Allen 10m, Benteke 25m , maybe lallana 20m, Skirtle 2m, ballotelli 10m (if we can get shut)and canos just gone for 2m I think. So that's around 65/70 mil incoming.

Add to the extra TV revenue and I don't think we are even close to 30% of our budget. Saying that, I don't think Klopp will spend that kind of money as he always buys cheaper options. Likes to improve a player rather than the finished article.

Will be interesting to see anyways

No way you are getting those amounts, nowhere near enough.

We're pretty good at selling players for crazy fees, it's the buying part we rarely get right. I don't think we'll sell Lallana but the fees for the other players aren't too far off. I think we've already rejected an £8 million bid for Allen.

Actually I'm starting to think we might have to pay someone to take Balotelli.

Regardless of how much we get though I don't think we'll spend much more this window. Excluding Mane, the other players signed by Klopp have either been loans, free transfers or for very small fees.

He's a good footballer. On a good day he's quite the force. But I'd want a better starter at United. He should suit klopp's tempo in attack well.

Easy to get good fee for the players you don't want to sell, like Sterling, Torres, Suarez but offloading players means you rarely get big fee considering all are on very good wages.

Liverpool have sold 4 players for more than 10 Million in last 5 years. Sterling, Suarez, Carroll and Meireles.

The only 2 of those sold for a decent profit were players they wanted to keep.

I was thinking further back than that to the likes of Torres, Alonso, Mascherano etc. We still get decent fees for other players as well. By decent I mean getting back more than half of what we paid for them despite most being considered flops. Lambert, Agger, Aspas, Borini, Assaidi and Charlie Adam were all sold for over 50% of the fees that they were originally bought for. We actually made a profit on a few like Shelvey and Assaidi despite both having mediocre careers at Liverpool.

Love their wide attackers who can play a bit centrally.

Coutinho, Firminho, Lallana, Ibe and now Mane.

Comfortable with them signing him, especially at 34m!

Fair enough if that's the case. I was thinking more about big money.

Also tbh you sold Mascherano for less than his value. You sold him for 15-18 Million and you signed him for almost the same money. Should have got lost more.

Well we've been offered 8 for Allen from swansea, 5.5 for Skirtle and lallana is English so he will get more than 20. I was being conservative with him. Benteke has four clubs after him so we will see but I don't think I'm being too optimistic.

A Southampton fan's view on Mane

1. Inconsistent; goes missing for a large chunk of the season
2. Best position playing behind the main ST
3. Doesn't work hard or track back
4. Has a knack for turning up in big games
5. Can win a game on his own

He's criminally inconsistent, disappeared for months last season. If that can be coached out of him he'll be a great signing.

Ibe can't play centrally. And Firmino can't play wide to save his life.

His inconsistency is a worry. He will have to work hard at Liverpool, not just in matches, but every day in training. If he doesn't he will be nowhere near the first team and his career will stall. Klopp will allow him to make mistakes, but will never allow him not to put in maximum effort. Perhaps this is the way to turn him into a reliable performer?

We should have gone for this player Mane' - I've been saying it from last season.
