Ryan Giggs | United confirm he's left

But who is everyone going to blame now? It's a sad day to see him leave but if he was just being kept around for the sake of it then it would've been a waste of everyone's time. I can't get behind the idea that getting rid of people connected to Alex Ferguson's time is a good thing though. It's been anything but a good thing since he left.

This is a good thing for all parties.

Now he can go and do some real work in football management instead of just putting cones out and giving the odd powerpoint presentation.

Giggs is the reason I started supporting United .I say this with no shame. They would show a highlight of his goal when I was 6 on TV. My favorite player of all time.

Underrated on here as well (especially during his later years). He reinvented himself and even in his mid thirties was giving us assist after assist. I remember in his player/manager season how he looked so good.

He was incredibly dull on ITV tonight.

Dull, and incredibly lacking in any form of insight whatsoever. Hopefully his managerial career matches his playing ability rather than his commentating ability.

I wish him the best with his managerial career (if he decides to pursue it).
But it is interesting that roughly 1 year ago, LVG was claiming that this 2015-16 season would be our title season (we finished 5th) and that Giggs would be the next manager (he was removed from the club, before he could become manager).
How things have changed.

Gutted

So sad to see him leave the Club. He is an absolute legend. Wish him all the best and hope he can come back in the near future

I would have thought he could have stopped but has chosen not to. His choice.

It is his choice, but he may well have been made unrealistic assurances about his future, which is a shame. Still, the fact is, being a genius world-class football player with a bulging trophy cabinet is no guarantees you can manage. Just ask Sir Bobby.

It's a sensible decision, but can't help being sad to see him go after all these years. Really hope his career goes well and he's back one day.

Thanks for everything Ryan... till we meet again!

Gutted. Been at the club since before I was born. Best of luck wherever you go Ryan. Thanks for the brilliant memories.

Can't believe posters on here calling this 'Great News'. Its the end of an era. I'm always sad to see any club legend leave.

Anymore of an era than say Scholes retiring or Keane/Beckham leaving?

Giggs is obviously a legend but life goes on. People aren't saying great news because they personally hate the man. They just think it's the right move given the nonsense that has been touted for the past three years.

No different than Scholes anyway. But people weren't proclaiming it great news to my memory.

Oh what a great time it has been with so many fantastic memories.
Wish him all the best at whatever he does.

Meanwhile some Caftards need to find a new scapegoat. Oh well there are always SAF and SBC to blame I guess now Giggsy has left.

It's obviously the right move for the club, but not something to be happy over since it's a function of the massive feck-ups of the last three years.

Nope it's on Mourinho now.

If we start hearing that Zlatan is touted to take over from him in three years we'll see...

Sad to see him leave. But I think it is the right time to move on. If he intends to go into a managerial career, he needs to find a club to start. If he wants to do anything else, then also this is the time.

Its for his own good. Love him, But he Needs to progress at his own rate. Was under Moyes and assistant to Louis, needs to go and put his own twist on a club and see what he can do. A breath of fresh air for him will do him no harm.

I was born in the same hospital as Ryan and live only 20 minutes or so from Cardiff, he was an absolute megastar around here when I was a kid and he was breaking into the United team, it's fair to say it was a huge reason why I fell in love with United too.

I'm gutted to see him go, it really is the end of an era but sadly with the way that Moyes and LVG ran the club we aren't in a position to give the manager's job to someone with no experience, I can't help but wish him well for the future, he's given me so much joy over the years.

Best of luck to him. It was time for him to leave the United womb. A total living legend and that goal against Arsenal in the FA cup semis still stands as the most exciting and highest moment in my time supporting United. Stuff of dreams....

Terrible way to go. He certainly deserved a heros farewell once his playing career was over.

However as a coach his position was untenable after being a part of two failed regimes.

What a beatefule day!!! Good riddance and may Rooney be the next to feck off.
Thats what you shouldnt write folks.

Sad to see him gone and wish him the best of luck in his future career. His assistant roles didnt turn out well to say the least but as a player he was a beast and a legend for us. Who knows, maybe he'll be back one day.

End of an era!

Good luck Giggsy, let's see if he can strike out his own path. Will be welcomed back in a backroom role of it doesn't work out, I'm sure.

Fantastic footballer and legend for the club, ruined his legacy with his horrific personal life.

No different than Scholes anyway. But people weren't proclaiming it great news to my memory.

Scholes was not being put forward as the next manager of MUFC.
Had he been touted as the next manager, you can bet that people would want him to leave the club asap, to avoid any possible chance of him becoming the manager.

Found this classic from the early 90s.
Ryan Giggs Secret and Skills. Used to have this on VHS back in the day. Watch as Ryan Giggs mercilessly in this DVD takes it round near-infants using roulette spins; a feat which would ultimately make Michael Owen proud in his own soul-destroying 'Skills' video.

The band-aid that we left on for too long and didn't really heal anything. Fantastic footballer, but should have left for newer challenges the day he hung up his boots. Thank you for everything Giggsy!

Thank You Ryan, what a great player you were. I wish you nothing but the best in your post Manchester United career. Very interested to see you get a management job someplace and see how it plays out.

Truly end of an era. A sad day for most. A club legend. Will be interesting to see how he does on his own. I'll have no problem with Giggs coming back IF he is a good manager.

Hope his wife takes him to the cleaners.

Its always sad when a player overstays. He should have left with his head held high and not this way.

Also if someone promised him a managerial role once LVG/Moyes kicked the bucket than that someone should be publicly executed in middle of OT's pitch

Good luck giggsy, an undoubted legend and unfortunately this is the best move for both parties. Next step get that fat feck Wayne out of the club.

There goes my afternoon watching every episode...

Was no better sight in football than Ryan Giggs in his prime running at defenders and scaring the living sh1t out of them. Tearing you apart since 1991, you will be missed! :(
