Ryan Giggs | United confirm he's left

Nothing will affect his legend status. One of the greats.

it's a shame he can't stay around in the club coaching. He has a lot of experience & is an approachable bloke, we've lost a great source of experience, a proven winner, someone who's done it all & could share that useful knowledge and experience.
I would have thought he could have stopped but has chosen not to. His choice.

Good for the club. I'm sure it won't be long before he gets a chance with a decent club. Be interesting to see how he does.

Deserves a statue but it is a right decision. A chance for him to prove he is a good manager and then one day he might be back to Man United.

End of an era :(

I hope he does well in management & comes back to us one day, but we don't have a much of a record for ex-players becoming top managers. Bruce is probably the best of the bunch, and I would have loved to have seen him manage United. I hope that Giggs has as least as much as the (limited) success of Bruce.

Glad he's gone. I think it's for the best to have a clean break from the old regimes. Can't help but feel he probably undermined Moyes and LvG (not saying they didn't fail on their own).

Hopefully he goes away and proves what he can do as a manager/coach.

Means Maureen must hit the ground running, if he does not the Class Of 92 will be applying all sorts of pressure to get back in the door.

Best of lucky in future to Ryan, hope it all works out and he returns as manager one day.

Best of luck Giggsy. My favourite United player of all time.

Time to fly the nest though. Our club needs to evolve and move to the next level. I feel that Giggs etc were holding us back personally.

In time he'll be regarded as Uniteds best ever player, genuinely gutted about this.
Kinda hoped he'd stay and earn his stripes in the under 21s or something.
Good luck Giggsy,
lots of love,
Mo

A true legend of the club and it's sad to see him in muted circumstances, but it's for the best. He was in a difficult situation. He wants to be the future United manager but leaving the club could risk his chances if he doesn't succeed. On the other hand, taking a backward step within the club by accepting a lesser role would also see his future prospects diminished. And he hasn't really done enough even as a Number 2 to earn a place in Mourinho's inner circle.

Leaving is risky to any dreams of managing United in future, but I don't want United appointing a manager who doesn't have the self-confidence to even try it. In an ideal world he'll go away, have a successful stint as manager and establish himself as a credible candidate for a future United position. I'm not holding my breath, but we can always hope.

Gutted. Been at the club since before I was born. Best of luck wherever you go Ryan. Thanks for the brilliant memories.

You're in your tweens?! Always had you for a sad old 60 something year old romatic, traditional type of fella from your posts

Good news as far as I am concerned. Thanks for all the great memories as a player, my idol for 20 odd years but I don't think Giggs the coach is good to have around going forward.

You can really see now that Jose is well and truly holding the reins. Giggs is an absolute legend but the media circus proclaiming that it is his destiny to manage United has not been good for the club and it would have been just as bad under Mourinho too had he stayed.

This is best for Ryan and Manchester United. I absolutely love the way our club is being led, it looks like we are finally starting to cop on a bit and act like the big club we are, our actions are looking more towards success and less towards sentimentality and it's about time. We really needed to shake this moral high ground stuff of "We're different, we're special." Enough of that BS, go out onto the pitch and prove it! We've been under-performing for three years too many and need to get back to the top of England, where we belong. With Jose I'm sure we're going to do just that and the chance of any favouritism towards Giggs in the camp or in the media has been nipped in the bud before it could start, this needed to happen.

We have a great manager again. We're signing quality players and not being cheapskates like in the latter years of Fergie, and Jose is going to bring a ruthless streak back to the club. We need to keep pushing forward now. Take chances on the best youth like we always do whilst also signing the best players on the market, whatever it takes to get back to the top!

I am so excited for this new chapter, the rebirth of England's most successful club has begun. Good luck Ryan and come on United!

Good luck to him, it'l be good for him to go and get some managing experience and it will probably be good for him to have a change of scenery. I don't think he'll ever be United manager but that's not to say he can't make a decent career for himself.
It'l be good for Mourinho as well he can bring his own men in now.

One of my favorite United players, best of luck to him. It feels kinda strange that he's leaving the club but it's for the best.

Great news....

Would love to see Rio and help out with the coaching!

Common sense prevails.

If he's got it in him to be United manager then he'll be back one day once he's cut his teeth elsewhere.

This

This is no surprise. Has anyone ever seen the Ryan Giggs soccer skills video?

Charisma vacuum.

The main reason I do not believe he will go on to become a successful manager. He just does not have the right type of personality (if he has one at all).

Being 31, although i was a united fan and attended matches pre giggs, i don't remember a time when he wasn't involved in the first team.

For me he was the one remaining link to the united i fell in love with, so this is very sad news for me.

Can't believe posters on here calling this 'Great News'. Its the end of an era. I'm always sad to see any club legend leave.
The only era worth mentioning is the one that ended when Ferguson left, and was indeed very sad. It's great news that the Giggs as assistant manager era is over.

Really? It was sad when he stopped playing, absolutely, but since then he's not really contributed much. It was the end of an era two years ago, not now.

He was our last link with the Ferguson era. I'm not saying Jose should have kept him on. I'm just saying its sad to see Giggsy's time with the club come to an end. And am surprised at people calling it 'great news'.
