Ryan Giggs | United confirm he's left

Means Maureen must hit the ground running, if he does not the Class Of 92 will be applying all sorts of pressure to get back in the door.

Best of lucky in future to Ryan, hope it all works out and he returns as manager one day.
I don't think Woodward would hire Giggs as manager. Especially as someone like Ancelotti might be available then.

For a hundred grand a week they'll have to callin the swat to remove me. Lol

Del pierro and totti still delivers though, at some reduced capacity but hardly a stealing a lunch. Rooney however....

Totti caused a havoc this year just because he felt threatened by the manager. Same as Del Piero who bitched against Juventus when they showed him the door (not that Juventus actually care about his bitching. The Agnelli's would probably piss on Gianni's corpse for the right price). I mean what's the point? Ok 100 grand a week is a lot of money for us common mortals but these guys are filthy rich already. Why tarnish such legacy just to overstay?

We all remember Gary Neville's last game and I still remember one of Franco Baresi's last derbies were he was literally humiliated by a young Vieri (although to be fair the latter was literally dragged by Berlusconi to keep on playing). That's not the way one should end his career.

It shouldn't, I agree with you.

But we're not looking from their Post fame syndrom spectacles. As good as Giggs is in midfield, he can't be better than a proper top class midfielder, this is where it hurts... we're fielding a carrick + giggs midfield against Barcelona....

Giggs should have retired as a player when SAF did. No one knew how to manage the old guard then SAF and once he retired, Giggs was up for a bumpy ride. TBF no one would have complained too much if Ryan took a small time coaching role with us and worked his way to head of youths or assistant manager. That's what the likes of Phelan and Butt did and no one really wants them out.

The two big mistakes made in this case were

a- they gave him the assistant manager's role immediately
b- some idiot seem to have told him that he would be the next United manager

It's not always about the money. Most footballers have pursued no other career in their lives and it's natural to not want to give it up and have to find something new which they may not be good at. Plus once you've retired it's very hard to come back even if you find yourself missing it. It's a difficult judgment call to make whether you're really finished or you can make a comeback and sometimes players make the wrong choice.

I for one hate to see it end this way. I wish him the very best and a happy and healthy life. He wore the badge with pride and will always be one of my favorites!!!!

Great people know when to call it a day , i feel he overstayed his welcome. Would welcome him back in the future if he's ready to take a chance with other smaller clubs and is successful.

30 years service and you're saying this? Feck me
I owe nothing to him and he owes nothing to me. I love our other club legends, just not him because he is a disgusting person. That and him feeling entitled to a job that he has about 4 games experience for.

I'd be delighted if he somehow ended up as City/Chelsea/Arsenal/Madrid/Barcelona manager.

Let's face it, he might be a good manager after all, but I'm sure he's no Pep/Klopp/Jose/Simeone class
If he was that good, I would rather he ended up here
and I don't consider Madrid and Barca to really be rivals

Good luck to Giggs. Legend. Hope he prove to be a good coach. I would welcome him back if that the case with open arm.

Instrumental in the resurgence of our great club - was part of the wow factor when Cantona came in and made us a great team again - some of the comments on here are either from 15yr old idiots or older people with a very poor memory.

Good luck Giggsy, moving on is for the best, prove yourself as a top manager and you'll be welcomed home

Best for both him and the club.

I still think he should have went when Fergie did. Purely because, he'd probably have the job right now if he had went out on his own then

if he is good enough, then yes, probably.

I guess we'll see now if he takes up a managing job somewhere else. good luck giggs.

What's everyone's favourite moment with Giggs then?

Obviously the 99 semi goal against Arsenal, but anyone else got a preference?

Has he ever said this?

Last pen in Moscow and last min equalizer vs Juve at home in our treble season were some crucial goals too! Obviously on an individual level no other goal beats the FA semi one.

I know it's literally the epitome of first world problems but I wish our 08 CL win had culminated in Giggs' goal. I liked how VDS saved anelkas shot, but it would be lovely if he'd have been the one to win it

Apart from a lot of great goals and assists I will always remember how he beat a rightback from Villa in his twenties for several yards of pace when he was 39. It was the day we won the league with a van Persie Hattrick. I'm not allowed to post media links, so you just need to type "giggs pace villa " into youtube.

When has he ever claimed the job should be his?
And do you honestly believe the other players are saints? Look at Martial, the guy left his wife and kid at home to bang some chick for a weekend in Paris. It's not comparable to Giggs but come on, if you talk about players being classy in their private lives, it'll only be a very select few.

I respect Giggs' accomplishments as a player for us and if he turns out to be a good manager will welcome him back.
But at the same time if he flops and fails miserably and his life goes south, I will feel no sympathy for him.

He isnt.

Watford might win the epl and cl after. Just because it's mathematically possible doesny meant he'll end up as those 3 i mentioned

There's a reason why i say he wont make it. It's not hate or dislike. But in any given occupation being the top 3 in the business is not a given, it's 3 in thousands.

You dont expect a 20 years google employer to suddenly replace steve jobs dont you? No matter how much he learnt from job. Some people are born to be successful.

Best move for him. Can't be assistant manager forever if you want a manager at this club.

I can remember that now I think. When was the game he started in CM, the caf had a meltdown and he was man of the match? I wanna say against Chelsea.

Shame, I really hoped their was a place for him in JM's coaching team, but I'm sure all United fans wish him all the best and hope to see him back at OT some day.
A legend.

According to Sir Alex, yes!

You just wasted my 40,000th post. :(

And according to Van Gaal and various journalists Giggsy is cosy with, Giggs was promised the job and feels it's poor form that he's not being given that chance.

(Apologies)

I'm not sure that's true, but fair enough.

Anyway, if he didn't have ambitions to to manage United and in his ability to be successful I'd be disappointed.

Good luck to him. Good for both parts. Has to make himself a name as a manager elsewhere. If he does well he can come back.
