Ruben Amorim | United meet Sporting release clause

Who is this? Rather have a United legend like Ruud here after he just destroyed Leicester - can't even remember the last time Ten Hag scored that many vs Premier League opposition.

Disappointing that it looks like we'll have to wait until after international break. Don't think it's right that INEOS are being let off the hook for delaying this so long tbh. Still poor from them and has cost us unnecessary points imo

Seems pretty obvious to me that neither United nor Sporting would have any interest in having Amorim and his staff serve the 30-day notice.

Both would wind up with their players in relative limbo, which can't be a good thing.

That said, Sporting need to find a replacemente and put them in place. The most reasonable agreement would be a lower "notice premium" and the switch executed at the start of the international break giving both new managers a couple of weeks to settle, get to grips with a new challenge and their squaddies.

That break would be a completely useless waste of time/wages for both clubs otherwise.

Yeah that is certainly how it's sounding tonight

Have no issue with Ruud over us until the international break , Amorim coming this week or waiting two weeks is not that big of a deal.

Yeah me neither, would have been great to have him in the stands against Chelsea but certain that doesn't happen now. I also won't judge him when Sporting lose to City next week

I don't think its that bigger deal. They could have mulled over targets and what not for a week or two and then hired him, it would still have been a quick appointment.

Apart from Chelsea, the other games should be fairly straight forward, so we might as well enjoy a bit of a new manager bounce from Ruud before their levels drop again.

You realise you posted a Ben Jacobs tweet right?
Not sure how reliable, just showing you why people think he definitely won't be manager on Sunday. I don't personally anticipate it either, I can imagine they will want to give him the international break as his start - let him get 2 weeks training uninterrupted.

In theory it sounds nice, but how many players are actually present for training in international break?

Don't know how anyone can take any Kaveh "report" seriously.

Guy was on TV couple days ago talking about "Ruben Amorim is thinking 'if I'm going to the Premier League, let's wait for the really really big job, which is replacing Pep Guardiola" then his co-presenter or whatever jumped in with "how times have changes when people are hanging around for the City job and not the United one"

Now he's here "reporting" all these intricacies like the above didn't happen and people are just supposed to believe he has a clue
He’s a joke of a reporter, the guy doesn’t have a clue, him and that Dharmesh guy still just talk none sense like 10yrs after they started.

I know we all go on about style every time a new manager comes in. But let’s remember, ETH had a style at Ajax, that’s why most of us wanted him here. Rangnick was known for a pressing machine, that’s why most of us wanted him as interim. None of them implemented anything here.. so although I’m excited about Amorims arrival, I ain’t getting my hopes up that we suddenly start playing amazing football.

I doubt that tonight's Leicester counts as a Premier League opposition. It was their second team more or less.

It would have been nice to have him in the stands vs Chelsea and then take charge vs PAOK and Leicester. Those are fixtures we should be winning anyway, so not a big deal he's not around but it would have been useful.

I don't recall ever seeing a situation like this though, where a manager is still around after an announcement has been made (assuming that come before the weekend).

Interesting that Sporting play City on 5th November too!

We've had many other games this season that should have been fairly straight forward that we dropped points in. I don't agree with this way of thinking at all. We've already lost so many points due to INEOS not acting before now to the point where I don't think top 4 is very realistic for Amorim even if he does start off well. It's certainly not been a quick appointment considering the context of our season.
