Ruben Amorim | United meet Sporting release clause

Looking more like he won't be here til the break which makes sense. Taking over before leaves no time for any training before any games anyway, and gives Sporting some time to sort out a replacement.

Makes it all the more strange why we didn't do this after the Spurs loss.

why would any club want to keep a manager who is leaving in a couple of weeks? has that ever happened before? its a strange one

That is still unclear, recent reports suggest that won't be the case. Sporting already have the replacement sorted.

Don't know how anyone can take any Kaveh "report" seriously.

Guy was on TV couple days ago talking about "Ruben Amorim is thinking 'if I'm going to the Premier League, let's wait for the really really big job, which is replacing Pep Guardiola" then his co-presenter or whatever jumped in with "how times have changes when people are hanging around for the City job and not the United one"

Now he's here "reporting" all these intricacies like the above didn't happen and people are just supposed to believe he has a clue

I watched one video of Kevin and what the hell was that, get at least the names right. If you don't get the names right, that is easy to look up, how can I then take the rest of what he says serious.

Noticing you're feeling more than a tad optimistic with all this, and you're really letting it show here.

Have you followed Sporting in the past and have reasonable insight into what to realistically expect or are you just jaded by the previous manager and excited for someone new with a good and growing reputation?
No, I haven't watched any Sporting games to be honest, I'm just excited about what I'm hearing and reading about him.
That in combination with how detached I've felt watching us play lately.
Also looking forward to us playing a completely different attacking system, 343?
I just want us to be like we used to.
When most football fans hoped to watch United vs Madrid CL final

I can't really understand why they expect both compensation and a notice period.

Otherwise, he just tells them he's leaving and gives 30 days notice and no compensation.

It always appears that everything related to football contravenes all established employment laws and regulations.

Yup. Definitely doesn't make sense to me. Surely it's one or the other.

So, during the international break as expected. It will give Amorim more than one or two sessions with the squad before his first official game and it gives Sporting time to arrange a replacement.

Two completely different things. Compensation does not have anything with notice period.
Compensation is for his contract.
Notice period is a law which protects employer (length is depending on country. Some have one week, some 2, some 3....).

First, the replacement is the inexperienced coach of Sporting B (second team) an there is almost a full technical team to hire.
Financialy Sporting is on the verge of lauching of a bond loan and this change is not very good marketing, so it´s important to give a smooth image of transition.

Honestly works out better for us and Sporting that way. He gets the international break to get acclimated to his new surroundings and the team.

Wasn't a big fan of the idea of his first match being against Chelsea after a single training session. Let Ruud get a PL match in charge

You're aware almost all players are away on international duty? He'll only have Rashford and all the crocks.

Most of them didn't go last break given the circumstances, the ones who were named politely declined.

Would imagine that might be the case again if it's the first week of a new manager. Not like it's continental cup qualifying or world cup qualifying being played this break either. Just more friendlies and 'Nations League' bollocks.

Top 4 is still possible, I want Amorim in asap. Hopefully the club feel the same and pay what it takes

Don’t mind it if Sporting want us to wait till the international break. Then again his first training sessions/first week will be with the reserves/youngsters as majority of the 1st team squad will be away with their nations on international duty.

Good, might mean that a few of them get to make a good impression and get some pressure on these chancers.

Latest reports I'm reading is that he isn't coming until the next international break. Hopefully Ruud keeps it up in that case.

dont really recall Erik being spoken about as a total disciplinarian....nor was he successful...

fergie is the man who ran the club with an iron fist

It was said about Erik too. The description of ETH is very similar, then again he didn't want to continue with his Ajax style after coming to England, so maybe that will be the difference. Erik's complete lack of charisma is also something that no doubt will be different. Hopefully we don't have any egos inside the dressing room anymore.

There's nothing to worry. He will become your manager. It's just posturing and politics now. They will end up settling and I believe he will be in Manchester by the weekend.

Hmmm looks like first game will be Ipswich away after international break then according to Crook. So what are the thoughts from the Sporting fans about him being there for City one

I thought the compensation was going to be €5m for his assistants, now some are saying £1m, have we negotiated a less compensation so they keep him until the international break?
