Ruben Amorim | United meet Sporting release clause

When ten hag was sacked I thought it might take a couple of months to know who the new guy would be. If they can get this sorted for him to start after the international break then I’m happy

Off topic: are they literally doing an international break every month this season? What’s going on!!

Aye people need to remember we’ve moved very quickly on this, we got the news that Amorim was taking over the same day ETH was sacked! It’s only been TWO days since then and I’m already seeing it being described as a “saga”.

Ha aye seems to be an international break every few weeks these days, I knew there was only ones at the start of the season but not this many.

So by Monday he could be ours. What about his 30 day notice thing or will that be sorted by paying them more money.
Paying that that extra money will also apparently allow his backroom staff to come over with him

Will be a few million. Am actually hoping he misses the Chelsea game give him a better bedding in period.

Would like to see Ruud lead a league game too if he's destined not to be kept on.

fecking annoying isn't it

Cos it's United, commentators always spin the worst----it's a saga if we take a week or two but it would be labelled 'rushed' if we had him in place now. I'm happy to negotiate acceptable terms with Sporting so the relationship there is maintained.

Let's not forget that Man United are such and still a massive football club. Even the appointment of a new manager is dominating the sports world worldwide

I agree. Would have been a big ask for him to come into the Chelsea game not having long with the team. At least we have a run of home games for him to bed into life in England

Hope he’s with us before next Tuesday. Would hate for city to smash them just before he comes to us.

The same people calling this a saga will be the same people asking for him to be sacked if he doesn’t win his opening games at least 4-0.

I can't really understand why they expect both compensation and a notice period.

Otherwise, he just tells them he's leaving and gives 30 days notice and no compensation.

It always appears that everything related to football contravenes all established employment laws and regulations.

Both happen at the same time outside of footie as well. It all depends on how the employment contract they are getting out of structured and how much the other party wants to accelerate whatever is in there to meet the demands or expectations before the person is released. (Source: am involved in high level executive recruitment from time to time).

Wasn’t there some football award ceremony this week has well, not a heard a thing about it.

It seems clubs and Amorim agreed with the 10/11 date to begin his new adventure with us.
Sporting will still have two tough matches against City and Braga, good for you brits to watch.
To be honest, this can go south easily if the players are not with him anymore, but it will be a very good teste to see if what they say about him creating an amazing team spirit is true after all these events.

Anyone else feel a bit old following this (presumable) appointment?

Amorim will be the first Manchester United manager of my lifetime to be younger than me...

Although Michael Carrick is only two months older than me if we're including caretakers²!

Was bound to happen one day I guess!

Same for me.

Depressing!

I guess we should have stripped Bryan Robson of the captaincy after our mid table finishes in the late 80s.

Roy Keane shouts at referee and teammates: Passion. Leader.

Bruno shouts at referee and teammates: Whiny. Attitude problem.
Neither Robson or Keane had any question marks over performances. They are both renowned for how inspirational they were and neither had whiny attitude and sulked.

Not sure why you bring them in but since you have if I rate Keane, Robson and Bruno as captains then its

Robson 9.5
Keane 9.5
Bruno 3
