Ruben Amorim | United meet Sporting release clause

And yet he is still putting in decent crosses leading to goals despite this one footedness. What is this jiggery pokery? If I hadn't seen this game live i'd swear this was an AI stitch up based on his lack of crossing skills playing for us.
How many assists did he have last season?

Isn’t the issue surrounding a notice period to sporting if his release clause is triggered? Have a feeling he won’t be announced until the next international break.
If we are paying the release clause why is there a notice period?

Mmm strange reaction. Ofcourse is has to do with a manager how he set the team up or if he has lost the dressing room. No one is saying otherwise right?

Your post that I quoted was "let's see if they are shit or didn't give everything". You are putting everything on players.

Eth set up was the biggest problem.

I think any hold up at the moment is more than likely tied to the appointment and compensation for the backroom staff that he wants to bring with him.

We clearly have an agreement in place with him personally, or we wouldn't have signalled the intent to pay his release clause.

I'd read that Sporting are looking for a further €5m for his assistants, so i'd imagine this is what we're currently over there negotiating. Until this is resolved he's obviously going to continue doing his job.

Have you read Whitwell's new article? Certainly reads like, at least some of, the new executive committee didn't fancy Erik and recruited in a way to push him out. The Mctominay sale stands out as that type of recruitment decision in hindsight (in a season where we lack goals ehatever you think of him as an all round player.)
It's a good read, I'm glad they didn't agree to buy Welbeck back despite ETH wanting him, he's been a beast this season and is incredibly important to the Brighton squad.

Who has reported that?
A Bola/CNN who've been on everything else on this in Portugal, the "delay" is because they want more to cancel that and the compensation for his staff. The 30 day makes sense as part of the clause for him really, he probably didn't plan or expect to move mid-season so wouldn't have been as much of an issue.

His approach of giving that reporter some time of day rather than none at all is probably cleverer than completely shutting him down. Hel need media friends early doors, something Ange currently benefits from.

He can shut down reporters in England when he gets pedigree in England. That's my thoughts anyway.

It's a good move considering it is drama queen Gary Cotterill never forget him chasing ten Hag at Selhurst park and security keeping him away. "Don't push me, your on television. Doesn't look good...doesn't look good be manhandled by security Erik, Man Utd a big club"

I have read that he wants his own staff in and that’s still being discussed re: compensation for them. There is also the fact he has a notice period of 2.5 weeks and maybe up to a month he may have to serve and negotiations re: compensation is being discussed. So it could be today, tomorrow, next month, or anything in between

My take on the topic of Tuchel is I don't want a coach/manager that can't crack it at Bayern. Hence the reason I'm not sold on Naiglesman
Bayern is the epitome of a well ran club, in a league that's been dominated by them over the last two decades. You have all the tools, and if you can't win the league there - I just don't think you're crème de la crème.
Yes, Alonso has stormed the league, but still, if you're good you should be 3-4 points behind him... not 18, and still sitting behind Stuttgart.
Bayern haven't been well run for a few years now.

I doubt it's a done deal as people are making out. If he was that easy to get he would've been at Liverpool, Spurs or West Ham by now.

Something's led him to not take those jobs and I bet it's around control of everything. Like transfers, ETH took his time agreeing the deal for the same reasons and got his way.

United wanted to take those same privileges away from ETH as soon as INEOS came in. So where do both parties stand today? I'd think it's somewhere near deadlock right now. See who is willing to compromise. If it's neither, there's no guarantee this deal happens at all.
Amorim has no control over transfers at Sporting so why would he all of a sudden be demanding that here?

As to why he's not gone to the teams you mentioned, for starters with Spurs I take it you mean when they appointed Ange last year then it could simply be a case of he wasn't ready for the jump yet. Everything I've seen said he said no to West Ham and Liverpool supposedly passed on him because they felt they didn't have the squad to play a back three formation.

He does need to take his staff with him (can't have any excuses that he doesn't have the right coaches), but I would like Ruud to stay on.

Well if he has a notice period of 2.5 weeks to a month then it can’t be today, tomorrow or anything in between. It can’t be both.

He's going to have to sharpen up to deal with the gutter press in the UK. All he had to do to shut the journo down was politely say he it was a post match press conference for Sporting Lisbon, and that's all that he would be talking about.

My first impression of ten Hag was of someone incredibly naive to be a top level manager, I hoped he'd learn on the job, but he never did.

The little "I don't know" at the end got a chuckle out of me anyway.

They wanted to push him out, sorry what? They renewed his contract, got in his favoured assistants, yet only actually pushed him out after our season is actually destroyed.
Don't disagree with your post -- the initial report feels like a fluff piece to make INEOS look like they knew what they were doing, but the slight semantic is that they simply activated the +1 in his contract rather than putting him on a new contract. It felt like the most basic show of support they could do in that regard.

It did feel like they supported him in the other ways you mentioned.

Sporting want extra cash to waive the notice period, our CEO is negotiating right now. We didn't move this fast to now wait weeks for him. I think he'll be official today/tomorrow.

I'm sure he was seen as a possible replacement if things didn't work out. But we wouldn't have been actively building the squad for him, as if we were that certain of him we just would have signed Amorim himself in the offseason.
You're probably right. I think they flinched when we won the FA cup though.

If we are paying the release clause why is there a notice period?
There is always notice period involved by law. With paying release clause he is free of his contract of course but notice period is something which is involved no matter are you resigning or someone paid for you.

Thing which protects employers from - "I am leaving today. All that stuff on my desk....who cares. Bye".

Unless you're American. Those mad bastards tend not to have notice periods.

Really odd in a professional setting though especially a management position to just have the person carry on with the job. Seems mad to me that he’s taking training today

Quite happy with this if it happens. Would've been one of my choices.

It feels like Whitwell has started more speculative reporting since this summer. All summer long, he pushed for Ivan Toney and even mentioned DCL in his articles, yet there was no mention of Welbeck at the time. Now, he says we were discussing Welbeck back then?

Could just as well be him saying good bye to his players and settling affairs.

A notice period? Why do you want to keep a manager in post who has his head on another job?
Think it somewhat makes sense. You don't want him to stay for months, but not just leaving on the spot seems reasonable. You need someone to step in, organise training, possibly the next lineup and so on

It's a good move considering it is drama queen Gary Cotterill never forget him chasing ten Hag at Selhurst park and security keeping him away. "Don't push me, your on television. Doesn't look good...doesn't look good be manhandled by security Erik, Man Utd a big club"

And Cotteril took great delight in compiling and narrating the “Ten Hag United Reign” piece they ran on Sky endlessly. It was full of bitterness and schadenfruede (sp?)

Must've been weird to witness this sudden influx of English journos in his press conference. Though I guess his can pinpoint which one are going to be a nuisance if he inevitably takes this role.

And you clearly haven’t been to a “third world” country or even Manchester, yeah some areas of Britain or any country in the western/modernised world or however you want to phrase it have poor or run down areas.

But Third world? I’ve seen some shit written on these forums but you’ve just won the Bollocks d’or.
Not third world - I think the poster exaggerated for the sake of illustration - but compared to other wealthy countries some parts of Britain are terribly close. That’s what extreme inequality and privatization give you.
