Ruben Amorim | United meet Sporting release clause

Credit to INEOS. it’s actually fantastic how quickly they’ve done this. The one complaint we’ve had, looking from the outside, they’ve proven everyone wrong.

I really hope he does well at United and joins a good list of Sporting players who have done well here. You guys seem to produce/develop really good players.
The first (I think?) Sporting player we signed became one of the best ever to grace the game. Maybe Amorim being the first manager we sign from Sporting would also become… no pressure

Do feel a big bad they clearly tapped him up behind Ten Hags back, but it was the right move

They quite publically courted several managers in the build up to the FA Cup final and during the summer, dont think anyone on the board even needed to think twice this time around.

Ineos have not only hampered our season by their indecision, but they have also made a Portuguese grandpapa cry.
:(

I'm particularly excited with having a 39 year old on the touchline. Hope he has trendy trainers and funny clothes.
He'll be our first millennial manager so you won't be disappointed in that regard

He keeps a fresh pair of AF1's handy it seems

We need to support him if he becomes our new coach however we should be realistic about how difficult the job in front of him is?

Not only is he inheriting, a pretty overrated and aging squad but he’s going to rip up the formation and radically change the way we play with a possession based 3421 formation with probably only 70% of the squad suited to this formation change, plus he can’t add any of his players that he wants to bring him.

With three Central defenders, his introduction may prolong Lindelof and Maguire United’s career, at least until the summer of 2025.

Looking how our squad could be used by Amorim?

Onana/Bayinder

L Yoro/ V Lindelof
M De Ligt/ H Maguire
L Martinez/ J Evan’s/ L Shaw

Dalot/Mazraoui
Ugarte/Casemiro
Eriksen/K Mainoo/Bruno
A Garnaucho/ H Amass/L Shaw

Bruno/Mount/Amad
Rashford/Zirkzee

R Hojlund/M Rashford

As you can see with his 3421 we need a definitive Left footed Left wing Back, yep Alphonoso Davies rumours are making more sense but even Ben Chilwell is a good loan option for this system but he need Gyrokeres to start at 9 to really make this work and he needs an elite 22-25 year old CM in the summer?

Overrated squad? If anything, it's underrated.

Also, aging? What?

City will be gutted when/if Pep walks away in the summer now.
Or perhaps, by the end of the season, theyll be relieved if he doesnt performed well—we truly don’t know how good he’ll be. We tend to place the managers we hire on a pedestal, but this blind trust has burned us far too many times. I hope he succeeds, but if he doesn’t, then I hope INEOS won’t waste another three years and hundreds of millions, as we did with his predecessors

Well put!! Tbh, I've felt the same, especially Ronaldo who has given so much to this club. You don't treat legends that way.

Ronaldo gave us so much? Really? We paid him a significant amount of money to play for us, allowed him to play and learn from the greatest manager to grace the game and gave him the platform to develop into the phenomenon he became. Then he fecked off the Madrid to give them his prime year's.

We had some great times with Ronaldo playing, but let's not pretend united didn't play a significant role in becoming what he did.

Amorim currently doesn’t play with proper fullbacks, it seems. The two players who play in the wing areas are Nuno Santos and Geny Catamo are both wingers

Thing is our full backs could all either play on the wing or as a 3rd centre back to a decent standard I reckon so it weirdly makes a fair bit of sense for our squad. Malacia might be in trouble but then he's basically a mythical creature at this point so not a catastrophic loss.

First time I will be older than the manager :(

I think you/I had every right to be excited about ETH. Just because it didn't work out doesn't mean we shouldn't have been optimistic.

I know less about Amorim, so not as excited but I am still hopeful he will coach us into a better team now with the players we have.
I was also excited about Ten Hag, have become sober and is now drunk again on Amorim.

All you need to know:
Erik (‘ei’+’rikr’=eternal+ruler) ten Hag (‘ten’ of the + ‘hag/haag’ hedge)

= The eternal ruler of the hedge.

So basically a garden gnome (gotta love those, mind).

Then:

Ruben (‘rubeus’ = red) Amorim (‘amor’ = love)

= Red love / Lover of Reds

You just can’t beat that.

It's 10M euros, not 10M pounds
I know. That’s what British media often does to United prices, it converts euros to pounds, and then inevitably some ABU media does this again until the player ‘costs’ twice as much as he really cost.

As a SportingCP fan and a person who considers MU the biggest club in the world i would say that MU was amateur. Not in signing Ruben Amorim but on not seeing Ten Hag being sacked earlier.
Now you've got the remaining of the season to tackle with Ten Hag players and we SportingCP, have our chaces of getting the second championship in a row, pretty much ruined (something that doesn't happen in 70years 1952/53). Hope one day SportingCP has the $$$$$ to do the exact opposite and break your strike.

I consider MU as my second team (at least the MU i believe in, Paul Scholes / Gary Neville etc) but now, i'm about to order the Cityzens starter pack

Fate. Destiny.

Sporting paid around 8m themselves to get him. So not that much of a markup.
And we already earned that amount or close to it when Leonardo Jardim moved from Sporting to Monaco. We in the business of selling managers

Think we have to patience with this manager and give him time if he fails we need to start looking at the players who have been here for a certain amount of time, personally I think some of our players are mentally weak and struggle if there’s little bit of challenge, Dalot, Bruno, lindelof and rashford just to name a few always seem to let there heads go down, moan way to much if they don’t receive the right pass, physically weak and struggle with 50/50s, it definitely needs to be addressed, Bruno being your captain and constantly moaning and arm swinging can’t be motivating at all, I’m hoping like everyone else on here he comes in and smashes it but i honestly think some of these players need to be moved on

I've just bought the Flyknit version of the AF1s. Unbelievably light. Great trainer. Would buy again. I'm sold on this snazzy guy.

If we go 2-4-3, at least we might finally be able to control midfield and not get out played by the Coventry Citys of the world. I've been saying we should have at least gone 4-4-2 to ease matters. Let's hope if he comes in, he can find a proven goal-scorer quickly
Sorry mate if we play with one less than other teams no matter the formation we will get outplayed :)

Amorim is good but playing with 10 men every game? He is not that good. :)

‘3-4-3’ I hope. 2 at the back will be pushing it a bit. Will allow freedom to the attacking players.
Darn, dyscalculia almost extinguished in England within half a day.

This probably means 3-5-3 is no longer a goer.
