It honestly depends on the contract. The buyout clause is just the amount of compensation to be paid, and doesn't relate to a notice period.

That's not a compromise. That's simply buying out the rest of his contract/triggering the release clause for "top clubs". Sporting don't have a say in that. A compromise would be them allowing Amorim to start immediately and wave the notice period.

He was 90% wrong before that too. Only thing he’s been on the ball with has been Qatar wanting to buy United and their subsequent bids and then eventual withdrawal
I don’t see how that works if the release clause is paid. I can understand it if he just handed in his notice with no fee being paid, but surely they can’t have their money and still decide when he leaves!
He's probably not wrong. It's just a contractual technicality that no club ends up enforcing as it gets negotiated in the fee usually. He's just reporting it cause it's technically true but also makes it look like panic... So yeah.

One thing I will say is I had Nagelsmann above him on my list, however that would have left City to potentially pick him up next summer. I'm certain he would have become the top target with Viana going there as DOF.
Surely they can if that's a condition in the contract he has.

Not sure how they came up with that release clause because it's a bit unfair. They paid 10m to get the guy in the first place.
I am worried about certain elements in the squad undermining him. I still think there needs to be a mini clear out to give him control and authority.

I'm guessing Amorim's agent negotiated it? He extended his contract a couple of years ago when his stock was rapidly rising, so wouldn't be surprised if the stipulation was added then.

Ruben Amorim would have insisted on that in return for a new contract. Very logical for any talented manager from a smaller club. Obviously they'll want the option of moving to a top club open to them

No club is paying the full release clause and expecting the potential manager to serve out a notice period.
Yep that worries me too, it shouldn't given they're employed by Manchester United so should deal with whoever the club appoints but they have form for it
We need to support him if he becomes our new coach however we should be realistic about how difficult the job in front of him is?
Not only is he inheriting, a pretty overrated and aging squad but he’s going to rip up the formation and radically change the way we play with a possession based 3421 formation with probably only 70% of the squad suited to this formation change, plus he can’t add any of his players that he wants to bring him.
With three Central defenders, his introduction may prolong Lindelof and Maguire United’s career, at least until the summer of 2025.
