He'll be our first millennial manager so you won't be disappointed in that regard

He keeps a fresh pair of AF1's handy it seems

I could see us lining up something like this (yes I'm aware the Amass shout is ridiculous but he's apparently playing a 17 year old FB at Sporting so you never know)

Onana
Yoro - De Ligt - Martinez
Mazraoui - Ugarte - Mainoo - Amass
Garnacho - Hojlund - Rashford
If Shaw ever gets fit he is in with a real chance to claim a place as LCB, he is faster, stronger in the air and as competent defensively and technically. Yoro and Shaw flanking De Ligt/Evans/Maguire would be great.

Another thing is that Rashford and Garnacho shouldn't play together we need another playmaker type up there so it should be Bruno, Hoijlund and Rashford to start off, I expect Rashford to thrive in the half space or closer to goal but I suspect that Bruno and his possession losses will lead to an eventual clash.

Amorin is good but playing against 12 men each and every game will be difficult for him.

I was skeptical when we signed with ETH because he came from Ajax from a "minor" league where Ajax was clearly the best team.

But for the same reason, I am again skeptical. Amorim, like ETH, comes from a "minor" league where his club, Sporting, is the best team.

It will be completely different to get to the PL, where United should perhaps be among the top 6-8 teams right now. And there will be teams and managers who are at least as good.

I would have preferred a manager with PL experience who had already shown results despite there being better teams than his own in the league. For example, Thomas Frank from Brentford, who has achieved good results with a small budget, even though most teams in the league are better than his own.

It’s not just about coming from a smaller league. Any manager, anyone, coming to united should learn how to cope with the pressure of being the united manager. Appointing someone like Frank would be the same gamble in my opinion. Moyes was good at Everton, Potter was good at Brighton. It’s the same risk.

The new manager should have character, the right attitude (egos aside), should handle pressure and should not be afraid to make tough decisions. The right tactics will help too

There is the caveat that he needs to apply for a right to work in the UK permit which can take up to 3 weeks, my guess is RVN is doing 4 games, Leicester (Carabo cup), Chelsea (PL), Leicester (PL) and PAOK (Europa league), if Everything is settled Ruben first game will be Ipswich away on 24th November, he has a month to evaluate the squad, give his list for January for the players he needs asap to implement his style and then inevitably get turned down as we’ve got no money !
Good point. That timeline makes a lot of sense and seems like the soonest things can happen

Do we have an exit clause if Ruud leads to us blowing everyone away in the next few games?

Good question.

I wonder if Ruud does stamp his claim if we can potentially put Amorim on gardening leave for a year while we see how Ruud gets on.

I dont disagree with what you are saying but Arne Slot came from arguably weaker league (Dutch have weaker teams than Portugal does) and weaker club of Feyenoord compared to Sporting, filling shoes of Klopp, with much higher expectations. And he didn't skip the beat despite getting next to zero transfer budget, albeit with decent squad. If he can do it, Ruben can, too

Erik had many challenges, no doubt, but he was also stubborn, and did many very strange things. At the end of the day, he can blame many people but he was the one that didn't succeed

He also needs to take responsibility for his own actions

Spot on in my opinion.

Managing United is less about tactics than being able to cope with having a target on your back at all times.

—————— Rashford
——— Mainoo —— Amad
Shaw — Bruno — Ugarte — Dalot
— Butcher — De Ligt — Yoro

Would love to see him give this a go. Build around Rashford getting tidy passes and see if he can regain his top form.

Then get in the market for some World class wing backs and slowly phase out Bruno

Who’s doing the match thread for the game tonight then? going to be well followed!

Who will be hes first signing? What position is most urgent? Left back? Striker?
Yeah left wing back I’d guess

I have no idea who though.. maybe that’s why there’s been gossip about that Munich lad

Cheeky bid for Reece James on the right maybe?

Why would anyone want to play Rashford in that position. Also what is Mainoo doing in that LAM/LF position. Also Shaw  This is just wrong

Damn. Where does that leave Van Nistelrooy and Hake? Would be a farcical situation if they get sacked.

Not really, they were brought in as ETH’s assistants and he’s no longer here. It’s unfortunate, but they were part of his team and he’s been sacked.

Surely they knew the risk when they took the job. ETH held on by the skin of his teeth last season and the ice was clearly thin for him. They hoped he would improve this season and he hasn't.

It's harsh, but that's the world of top level sports. They joined a failing team and couldn't do anything to influence an improvement.

Saw a post on The True Red Devils Facebook page saying that Amorim is all Berrada's idea as he was lined up as a potential successor to Guardiola while Berrada was still at City.

Been busy with work so not been able to keep up with this. However seen some articles stating that this could be done very soon & he could even be in place to take charge of the Chelsea game this Sunday! My first game at OT this season so that will be absolutely class if this is true indeed.

I see it as no different to when Gary McAllister and Sean O’Driscoll hired as Rodgers’ new coaches in his late few weeks at Liverpool.

They probably knew the risk and that they may have been a whole new head coach waiting in the wings and it’s a case of when and not if.

Amazing what 48 hours can do, really happy with how things are turning out!
He was my pick for new manager so excited to see if he can live up to the hope and hype.

I seem to remember that we were pretty giddy about ETH coming in so whilst I have firmly been in ETH out camp, once bitten twice shy. I really hope that this guy can finally do the business for us but it feels that we are in such a deep hope it will take minor miracle to get us out of it.

It was logical to be excited by Ten Hag, just like it makes sense to be the same here. Are we all a little bit more wary? Sure, but I’m still hopeful and excited.
