Ruben Amorim | United meet Sporting release clause

For me, this is the first time where the Zirkzee signing has made a bit of sense. He's not the only one either.

Have to wonder if this was in the works for a while.

Sky have gone from him being the most promising manager (when linked to City) to now being in-experienced. sh!tshow
Of course they have. Whenever we’re involved there’s always negativity.

The theory that they didn't want to sack him because of cost is a non starter really. Why?

Go check in the summer, many were reporting the cost to be £17m anyway.. so there is no difference in cost sacking him then and now.

If as per people say, cost is the reason he wasn't sacked, we would be appointing Potter, Southgate, Xavi as manager, rather than paying a release clause for a manager.

It was a nonsical theory peddled on here by a small few, even though it was debunked several times.

Some were trying to peddle the bullshit narrative yesterday that we're broke so would be going for either Ole, Southgate or Potter. These bullshit, negative articles generate clicks.

So he will come at the end of the season, correct? Or is he really going to leave sporting during the season?
Would it be that surprising if he did? The speculation at the moment is whether he'll be in for the Chelsea match or not.

Wonder what happens to RvN if Amorim is appointed. Kept on as a striker coach?

Anyone familiar with his system know if his back three is always pure CBs?

I’m wondering if first choice it will eventually be:

Yoro - De Ligt - Martinez

However if we are struggling for a fit CB could the likes of Mazraoui, Dalot or Shaw (lol) slot into the back three seamlessly?

I assume the system relies on having at least one of the wider of the three having the pace to cover in behind?

The wing backs are going to be huge for us in this system if he plays it. With a few player sales, we could line up something like this for a very positive net spend in the transfer window. On paper, Sancho and Amal are perfect for these roles.

Will probably stay until the end of the season and then start looking for full manager roles again. I think he clearly took a gamble on him getting an extended role as interim and audition for the job and it hasn’t worked out like that.

The caf said that he was Dutch and therefore must be an ETH signing though, so you can't be right

Do we know if he’s going to bring his own staff in with him if this happens?
When it’s not an interim appointment, but a major one involving big money, he’ll almost certainly be looking to bring some of his own people in to make it work for him.

The problem is United probably have sizeable contracts with RVN and Rene Hake who were legitimate managers/head coaches at their previous Dutch clubs. In terms of severance packages if it’s a clean slate it could be a massive cost on top of EtH. Per the INEOS approach to cost saving, I can’t see it being a full clean sweep and maybe a select few who come along.

Errrr Mazraoui is a number 10 mate.

Might be they keep RVN on so that he can help understand the new manager about the club, it would be useful to keep him.

Maybe he can learn from a more competent coach and then in 12-18 months go and take over as a head coach somewhere.

From our cohort, who would be likely to line up as the back 3, do you think?

In fact, from our squad, what do you think is the best xi for what he wants his team to do?
Onana
Yoro de Ligt Martinez
Mazraoui Ugarte Bruno Dalot
Amad Garnacho
Hojlund

cos ten hag had feck all idea how to get the best out of him.

Let's see. With Bruno and Mount here I'd be more inclined to think he'll opt for using them. Unless there's some real hidden talent we haven't seen so far with Zirkzee.

I thought it was pure nonsense all along tbh. It would be pretty wild if we were the only club that I know of who couldn't afford to sack a manager. I'm pretty sure it was also debunked several times on here. Anyhow, onwards and upwards.
'Can't afford' and willing to spend aren't the same. As long as we're losing money financial considerations will never be 'pure nonsense'.

Probably already been answered but scanned a few pages and couldn't see it and was hoping someone was kind enough to repeat who has kept up with the thread, West Ham decided not to hire him after an interview and Liverpool turned down the chance to speak with him, is that a concern or were there mitigating circumstances?

Ye I seen that aswell. That we had to raid the free agent market. What I like about the INEOS era so far. Everything they do seems to be a surprise and under the radar. No leaks.

I might be wrong but I don’t think Liverpool wanted to pay his release clause. I’m not sure what happened with West Ham.

Sounds like we want him in place for the weekend game v Chelsea.

No messing around.

I guess something has been happening behind the scenes for a couple of weeks.

3-4-3. With ugarte and Mainoo the CM pairing. Rashford, Hojlund and Bruno the front 3. Our 3 CB martinez, De Ligt and Yoro are very solid. Only concerning position is the Left side without shaw. Must be a transfer priority in January

Well it looks like Amorim's preferred formation includes two attacking players just behind the striker. Zirkzee occupying one of those two positions makes more sense than anything we saw at any stage under Ten Hag.

Chelsea will be slightly worried. As they knew what to expect under ETH. Amorim will hopefully get us more solid and more fluid in attack
