Most definitely. Couldn't believe I was seeing predicted XI's with Shaw at left wing back. Not a mission he would ever be fit enough for that role whereas left side of a three at the back would be perfect for him, rotating with Martinez.
We definitely need a new LB/LWB. Dalot or Maz are not the answer on the left.

Didn’t Ange change Spurs in a few weeks?
New manager bounce for 10 games then spurs where rubbish. If i remember correctly Everton picked up more points from that point until the end of the season last season.

Spurs haven't had a great start to this season either, we sacked our manager who won a trophy last season when ange won nothing and united are only 2 points behind spurs right now.

Ange is good at media but he's not the example to trott out as an example of what we want at United

I'm not sure on Mainoo, is he the ideal fit for that other CM role alongside the destroyer (Ugarte)?

Mazraoui I think would be a great fit for the RWB role considering they tend to play a bit of a balance of attacking / supporting roles (Shaw would also be great in the other LWB slot as that supporting presence in midfield and progressive passer if he were ever fit...).

For me I'd think Dalot might be the one who struggles to fit in. More of a natural full-back than pure wing-back so I'm not sure how well he'd fit a 3-4-2-1.

Mainoo is not quite a double pivot midfielder or a classic number 8. Playing in a midfield two, with a back 3 behind him to provide slightly more cover and allow him to roam ideally suits him IMO.

REDEMPTION ARC INCOMING
He said attacking wingbacks.

I prefer to see us (Sporting) play with 3 in the back. I didn't like when we played 2 in the back. You need the right personnel though.
From our cohort, who would be likely to line up as the back 3, do you think?

In fact, from our squad, what do you think is the best xi for what he wants his team to do?

Find the comments about not being able to succeed or play good football with a 3atb absolutely baffling. There are two high quality sides who play really nice football in Leverkusen and Atalanta, then you have managers like Conte, Tuchel and Inzaghi who've had success with that system as well albeit the football's less attractive.

Our current CEO is an ex city dealbroker. He’ll know exactly who they had in mind in their succession planning.

City not being interested seems to make sense. Sounds like it is quite a passive and counter attacking style when not facing poor teams in Portuguese league. Would suit out players a lot better.

What are we expecting from Amorim interms of how he's going to set us up.
3 at the back seems a given, so what are we expecting on the wings, midfield and forward positions ?

We are passive against the likes of Coventry, Southampton and Fulham.

How did you put 2 and 2 together and get 5? When exactly did I say Ange is what I wanted at United? I said his system had a significant style of play within weeks at Spurs, which is right. I never said they will win trophies or I want Ange here. It’s just that a new manager can set the team up right and change system of play within weeks.

I personally refuse to engulf myself in any tactics applied by Amorim at his current club. I did that with ETH and we know what happened at Utd.
If he is to be the new coach, I wanna assess him based on nothing but fresh information
I said last night that I realised that I am exactly as excited and optimistic about Amorim signing for us as I was about ten Hag and that thought was very sobering.

I was all in on ten Hag, I really believed we were signing the right profile - relatively young, on the up, tactically astute and seemingly ready to cut his teeth at a big club. The sort of manager we watched the likes of Brighton and Brentford go for and asked why we didn’t give them a chance.

It sounds like of when not if. Lets hope he can kick some kind of class into this lot.

Sky Sports News predict that Amorim's team could look like this:

Onana
Yoro de Ligt Martinez
Mazraoui Ugarte Bruno Dalot
Amad Rashford
Hojlund

The only left footer we have that could possibly play LWB fit is Antony.

Dalot/Maz can't - we need someone who can hold width playing on their natural foot.

Apart from that, I think our squad is pretty well set up for a 3-4-3.
Shaw will be back eventually, at least for a little while - Malacia is on his way back it seems, and young Amass is also there. Should be enough to see us through the season, and apparently we are doing our best to secure Alphonso Davies for free for next season.
I'm positive about it.

I don't even know if we can rely on that. Managers seem to change a lot when they arrive here. Some of those Ten Hag Ajax clips, full of players we now have, make them look like prime Barcelona. Sweeping aside the best teams. Haven't seen anything resembling it here. Except maybe the first half of the FA Cup Final.

Yeah I I like the idea of it too. Means we can fit De Ligt, Yoro and Martinez in the side and makes us a bit more solid to cover up the weaknesses in midfield.

Doesn't sound like he plays with out and out wide players but that might be a blessing when none of our wingers can cross the ball well anyway. I can very much imagine Amad, Rashford, Bruno and Garnacho as inside forwards receiving the ball on the half turn.

There’s a reason I put a * next to Shaw.
