Ruben Amorim | United meet Sporting release clause

Is his football style similar to Klopp?
Amorim’s emphasis on defensive organization and fluid attacking movements has created a well-balanced squad capable of navigating the challenges of top-tier football. The team’s adaptability in transitioning between various formations and defensive structures showcases Amorim’s strategic competence. Sporting CP’s success under Amorim is not merely a result of individual brilliance but a collective manifestation of his tactical vision. The influence of Ruben Amorim on Sporting CP’s tactical identity stands as a testament to the artistry and effectiveness of his coaching methodology.

People disappointed he's not tiki-taka, I guess it's all a matter of taste and opinions, but its one of his major pluses for me. I don't want to contribute to robotic death of modern football that is Pep's shite.

He's a smart coach, pragmatic, but with his own style. I'm excited.

I wouldn't say he isn't tika taka. There is certainly some of that in his style of play.

3 at back will never work in EPL.
It’s possible to defend with 3-5-3 but you just can’t have an attacking side with that format.

I hope he changes to 4 at back.
I hope he plays the way we have employed him for. If he wants 3 at the back then do it.

We just went down that road with EtH.

Super interesting about his anti-injury strategy, he reduced the injury rate by 20% at Sporting.

Another thing is his flexibility. When he had injuries he simply changed the tactic to back 4 and still was successful.

I don't think people will care too much about Tiki-Taka or transition or whatever as long as it worked. All fans wants to see is fast free flowing football that wins football games. Klopp wasn't Tiki-Taka but his was the best football played in the PL in the last decade, imo. I am tired of seeing us play like an underdog in most games. With the amount of money we spend we shouldn't have to play football like scared puppies, which has been a constant for a while now. I can understand being more conservative against City or Arsenal in the odd game, but looking like a disjointed team that can't string two passes together is not acceptable.

On this guy, I hardly know anything about him. Seems like a young and upcoming manager who is highly rated. I have been critical of INEOS but it would be pretty impressive if they can pull this off in the middle of the season from a team that is topping the table in their league. It shows a bit of planning, which is in itself is a change given the state we have been over a long time. Time will tell if this works out or not. It's all about giving yourself the best possible chance. Let's go!

A lot of baseless narratives being destroyed with this potential hiring. We weren't going to sack Ten Hag because of the cost, and we weren't going to hire a manager already working due to the compensation.

We shouldn't underestimate ten Hags complete lack of charisma and communication skills either. The man was horrible to listen to. Things like that matter.
Absolutely. You can be the greatest tactician in the world, but if you can't convince people and get them on side then it's worthless.

Wow! Crazy how young he is. And they all played with the legend that is Nico Gaitan as well, of course

What are we basing this on then?

An exciting appointment. He’s about 15 years younger than ten Hag and I don’t see any similarities in their managerial styles. I was quite open to Thomas Frank but are you then going down the Moyes road of a manager in his early 50’s without a trophy of note to his name. Amorim has already acquired the winning habit and that’s a hell of a record he’s got going this season - conceded 2 in 9 games. I don’t know the detailed stats but that’s a team quite clearly that are not wide open and not having their keeper peppered with about 15 + shots a game.

That's all good and well until you ask Rashford to put a shift in. The same problems will arise until certain players are moved on.

What? Why? Tuchel played 343 with Chelsea and it looked good. Conte won PL with 3 at the back.

Tuchels style was dead boring, more of a pragmatic controlled approach. I think Amorim has a 343 that's built to be more proactive in style.

Fjortoft was apart of that fun Middlesbrough team of the mid 90s that was managed by Robson. That's all I know about him.

I'd back us playing 3-5-3 tbf but we may be reliant on the ref having dyscalculia.

He didn't fluke that CL win, did he? It was pretty much a series of tactical masterclasses against the best teams in Europe.
Didn't he make a CL final with PSG previously? So how can someone who has made a CL final, managed a number of semi final appearances be termed to have fluked a win?

Is he here yet? Where are our posters with screendumps from Flighttracker tracking every plane out of Portugal?

Standards have fallen at the CAF.
