Ruben Amorim | United meet Sporting release clause

People disappointed he's not tiki-taka, I guess it's all a matter of taste and opinions, but its one of his major pluses for me. I don't want to contribute to robotic death of modern football that is Pep's shite.

He's a smart coach, pragmatic, but with his own style. I'm excited.

Call me a pessimist but weren't we all this excited when ETH was announced as Many Utd manager. Even during poll overwhelming majority chose ETH. And look how that turned out. Although I am really excited about this news but am not getting my hopes up. I will only believe the hype once I see the results.
I'm in the same boat, he seems the same "good prospect" as ETH was back when we got him. Honestly I just consider getting him at the time was a rifgt decision, it's just Erik failed to deliver. I also think the reason for his failure was he had wrong idea and was not flexible at all. Honestly seems like many posters on here saw issues with his setup way before ETH made any amendments last season for example.

Anyway, I was far more excited for Ten Hag then I am now for Amroim (not because I don't rate him, but because we've been here before with ETH), just want to wait and see what ideas he has for this United side.

If he plays his 3-4-2-1 tactics, I am curious to see how it works out with United’s current players.

The main difference is that Amorim is young and capable of learning and improving. ETH is old and stubborn.

The plus of the 3 at the back is at least it’s a proper reset and we should see a style implemented!

So Ruud only gets 1 game?

As much as I've wanted Amorim for a couple years, I still expected (maybe even want) him to come in the summer. Let Ruud do this season so Amorim isn't tainted with this season's poor start and judged cos of it

It’s more important we get a proper manager in to put in his blue print than be precious about statistics. This season is a write off we simply don’t have enough fire power but the target should be to give us an identity by the end of the season.

The 3 at the back really excites me as I feel it will give us a solid base to build on. We have Martinez, De Ligt and Yoro to start. Evans Maguire and Lindelof as back up. Mazaroui can fill in if needed and Casemiro too as he'll be less exposed in a 3. If Shaw ever gets fit again, he too is an option there. Ugarte and Mainoo would be able to press and dominate further up too as they know they have 3 men behind them at all times. Ugarte knows the system to a t so he'll hit the ground running. Excited to see Dalot and Mazraoui attack the wings higher up and 1 thing I'm very excited about is Rashford playing inside as one of the narrow attacking mids, we all know he's lethal with his shooting and getting him inside more will make him so dangerous. I think he'll benefit the most from this.

Trincao who plays one of the two 10s is a winger by all means but Ruben plays him more narrow and he's been fantastic, way more consistent than he was at Braga, Barca or Wolves. I thin; Rashford will benefit heavily from the structure and role he'll be put in. Bruno too will have cover behind him so his lack of discipline won't be as detrimental, he Rashford and Hojlund will press high up knowing behind them is adequate cover and the closer to the goal we can get Rashford and Bruno, the better for us.

I have a very bad feeling we are going to absolutely destroy this poor guy and ruin his life.

Which means he'll likely work out.

Honestly, let's just wait and see. Curb our enthusiasm. We are a comedy club right now so it should not be too difficult.

Fair play Ineos identifying a key target and making a move. The argument may be why not in the summer, but what's done is done.

Fair play and good luck to ten Hag on his next adventure. Had some good times together. Now let us see what Amorim can do.

Yep, agree with this. Hindsight is everything, but with the information we had at that time, ETH was a very exciting appointment. The appointment was the right decision, sticking with him for so long might not have been.
The same can be said for Amorim if we get him, best current option but no one can know how it plays out. Just need to set some very objective criteria to measure progress, and if progress isn't delivered we try again.

Loser mentality. No offence. This season can be a free hit for the new man coming in if you want, but there's still plenty ot play for. |'ve no good reason to prefer we wait till the summer.

Absolutely, we can climb up in the league to a somewhat respectable position and theres EL and two domestic cups still.

We shouldn't underestimate ten Hags complete lack of charisma and communication skills either. The man was horrible to listen to. Things like that matter.

It also worked from his side which I should have added. He is top there and smashing it still. So for his own self thought he'd want maybe another title and knows he's usually in demand

It's probably more I don't have faith in us fans (collective) to give him this free hit of a season. In theory I agree but I can't see how there won't be a media and fans rush if things don't go great from the start

If INEOS managed to withstand the Ten Hag storm since this season started, I don't really see them crumbling too quickly with their man coming in.

Is his football style similar to Klopp?

If anything, this season is a good time to both test Amorim’s coaching qualified and also let him figure out his squad and English football. I’d rather that than waste time on a temp manager.

Have to admit I have zero knowledge of this guy. Huge step up for him, needs to have an huge aura to match the players to get them on side.

If he takes over after the Chelsea game he's got a good run of matches to get him started. Leicester, Ipswich and teo teams I've never heard of in the EL. He could hit the ground running and build some serious momentum throughout November.

Isn't it the same what we thought Ten Hag will be?
I'm not saying we're making a mistske here, but I do think ETH should just be considered a blip and we just need to try again with similar "promising" manager. We're due a good coach with the number of managers that went through us, that's for sure...
I think so ETH didn't work out but I think the only regret is not sacking him sooner, rather than not appointing him at all. It was a sensible, much more so than our previous managerial moves.

Really pleased this is being done so quickly, it excites me. Some people who are saying how this season could taint his reputation early, I think it's actually the opposite. He has a blank canvas too work with and in actual fact it gives him more freedom to implement changes. It's already been a disaster so he can tinker to his hearts content in my opinion.

I think we absolutely have to go and buy a left back/left wing back in January. It will be pricey but we just desperately need one. I know they want to develop Amass which is brilliant but if this is going to work we can't operate without a left sided defender.

All in all I'm sad Eth has not worked out but it was clear that the disaster had to come to an end, there's only so much faith you can put in someone in today's modern and very quickly evolving game.

Ten Hag was also an idiot.

Amorim will be fun to listen to. He does the best press conferences here in Portugal. He's a likable guy.
Players, the press, fans and opponents all like+respect him.
Even when Sporting was losing, players have always stuck by his side.

I'm curious to see how he'll deal with international players with massive egos. He hasn't had to deal with this yet as a manager.

3 at back will never work in EPL.
It’s possible to defend with 3-5-3 but you just can’t have an attacking side with that format.

I hope he changes to 4 at back.

I expect Ruud to get 2 games, Leicester and Chelsea.

Amorim may be appointed by Chelsea but I doubt he’ll be in the dugout by then & even if he is, will he even have had the time to take a training session?

Hopefully by Christmas we’ll be in touching distance of top 4, it’s not out of reach….yet
