Ruben Amorim | United meet Sporting release clause

Blimey. I just saw the Portuguese league table and sporting are 9/9 wins with 30 GF and 2 GA. That's fecking insane.

Sporting Lisbon's director of football, Hugo Viana, is going to City
Because Hugo Viana is replacing Txiki Begiristain as Man City's DOF, which caused many to believe Amorim would replace Pep if he leaves this summer.
Because their DOF Hugo Viana is going there to replace Begiristain, and people connected the dots that City were once again uplifting a teams entire backroom like they did a decade ago.
Thanks.

SSN have been pushing that one all day. The thought of long ball football and having to look at Thomas Frank on a weekly basis was depressing.
Frank would have us play possession based aggressive football like Brentford did in the Championship. They don’t just play long balls now either.

You’re a noble chap, Sly. Very dignified of you*

*so long as you’re not smashing up your home as we speak!
I'll only smash up my place if somehow we end up appointing Ten Hag

Not sure if I ever watched Amorim's Sporting but guess it's a not a bad sign that Liverpool were in for him 6 months ago, even though they opted for Slot in the end.

From what i understand about him (not saying that i know much :)) he is playing with two no10s so he will be happy with Mount. Likes striker who has technique so Zirkzee also is safe. Plays with two dmc so Case is needed. Antony is fecked.

You think Zirkzee has technique ? He looks like a dog chasing a frisbee out there. Surely there are better strikers who actually score goals available.

He’s very brave if he joins us right away whilst his current team are top of the league.

What’s the reason for it not working out and him not joining them?

On a side note this could end up garnering sporting's faithful eternal wrath were they to fall off in the league afterwards, can't possibly leave a good taste on their minds.

Onana
De Ligt - Yoro - Martinez
Dalot---Ugarte---Mainoo---Shaw
Bruno
Hojlund---Rashford
Fits our squad well. With Garnacho and Amad In for Bruno and Rashford.
Can see Amad being his trincao.

Up and coming manager that did well in a shite league, what could go wrong ?
There's a galaxy of difference between ETH and Anorim. One toppled the two giants in portugese football with a fraction of their budget and another had the biggest budget and best players in the league. Also ETH was quite old for an up and coming manager. Anorim is 39

EtH looked like a great appointment too don't forget. Amorim like Ten Hag had success in lesser leagues.
Ten Hag was exciting but all of the conversation was around a single CL run.

With Amorim you've got a 30+ game unbeaten run, three cups in a row (and four finals in a row), the first Sporting title in a couple of decades, two titles overall in four seasons, one second place finish. Hell, even in the season where they were shit and came third they had the typical Champions League blues that some clubs have when they're not used to so many games, yet Amorim put the blame on himself for the failure. And even in that failure of a season they beat Frankfurt and Spurs in the CL, dropped to the Europa League where they got to the quarter finals and beat an Arsenal managed by Saint Lego Pep.

Jump on board. We're making a short stop at Ruud City but then we're on a one way trip to Amorim Planet. Choo fecking Choo.

Sounds pretty good for us then

Hojlund
Mount - Bruno
Shaw - Casemiro - Ugarte - Mazroui
Martinez - Yoro - De Ligt
Onana
Almost as if we've been recruiting players with him in mind

We will be getting players who speak Portuguese or have played in the Portuguese/Brazilian league now.

CR7 come on home!

I feel like I'm in an abuse relationship.

*this* time it will be different. Surely! Right?

We have a very good relationship with sporting don’t we. This shouldn’t be a problem if the manager wants us

Antony aside, a good manager should be able fit our current players into his system imo.
Yup. Wanted to say the same. Probably a LB as both our options turned out be sicknotes but I don' think there is a need for a massive clear out.
