Not sure how I feel about this. He's only 5'10".

Up and coming manager that did well in a shite league, what could go wrong ?
Did well in a less shite league with an underdog, not the same as doing well with the biggest team in a league really.

Pretty much. Also means a massive clear out of ETH players next summer in exchange for ones Amorim needs to fully implement his own style of play.
Antony aside, a good manager should be able fit our current players into his system imo.

He'll have more hair than all the managers in the NW combined.

Sporting have conceded just two goals this season in the league (30F 2A) - and the last one was conceded on 17 August.

That's 684 minutes without conceding a league goal. 30 goals in 9 games too! I’d kill for 30 in 19 from us this season.

Own goal from Dalot incoming in his first game in charge for us then.

I disagree with that. Only our wingers are in danger. Our squad is built for his style.

Think he'll eventually line up like this

Onana

Yoro
De Ligt ------------------- Martinez

Mainoo ------- Ugarte
Dalot ------------------------------------------------------- Shaw

Bruno -------------- Garnacho

Højlund

Shaw exists?

From the youtube videos it does look like a great setup for many of our current players.

The tactics seem quite risky if someone loses the ball, as every wrong pass instantly can lead to a dangerous counter attack when the wings are sitting high. The part about losing it centrally or making killer passes can either go brilliant or terrible with Bruno.

Jamie Carragher just suggested on Sky Sports News that Gary Neville should be the manager.

Ruben Amorin doesn't sound too bad anymore. Actually I like it. Could probably be much worse, like Southgate ;)

Zirkzee, Mount, Antony, and Casemiro are definitely on the outs, each for their own respective reasons imo.

Mount and Zirkzee could be part of the rotation for two no. 10s no? Although who knows if he will continue the same set up.

Would rather play Mount instead of Garnacho. I think Garnacho isn't suited to this system at all
Ideally you play Amad and Rashford and upgrade heaviliy with better attacking wingbacks if anything. Let Rashford play as an inside forward and more direct while Amad plays in the half space more.

The biggest issue with any 3atb formation people will draw up right now is that you need those wingbacks to be excellent in the final third as creative outlets, while the half space players are quality in and around the box and in tight spaces. With Mount there you'd be praying he hits his Tuchel form again (would be more hoping than anything).
Was just going to post this. Shaw wont be fit of course and we'll need to sign a specialist left wing back pronto. And a deep lying playmarker instead of Mainoo.

Yeah the Davies links would make more sense now than they did. He'd thrive as a true LWB where he's not asked to dominate a flank defensively.
Antony aside, a good manager should be able fit our current players into his system imo.
I tend to agree. It's fun to complain about the squad but it's decently versatile for a number of systems now compared to where it was a couple of seasons ago. Main notable issue is Left back being a black hole, and our fullbacks not being great creative outlets in general anyways if you want to transition to wingbacks.

What if this guy doesn't get the best out of Bruno and he still plays shit? Will he have the balls to drop a Portuguese and Sporting icon?

After Ten Hag, I'm sick to my bollocks of managers who play favourites.

What makes him more likely to succeed than Ten Hag? Both highly sought after and hailed as modern coaches who play attractive football. One has already failed in the PL.

Genuine question, I'm not shit stirring. I don't follow Sporting so have no opinion of this guy either way

Why were some posters claiming he was lined up for the city job?

Because their DOF Hugo Viana is going there to replace Begiristain, and people connected the dots that City were once again uplifting a teams entire backroom like they did a decade ago.

Mount and Zirkzee could be part of the rotation for two no. 10s no? Although who knows if he will continue the same set up.

I don't see anything in Zirkzee that would compel us to keep him, especially when there are other strikers who are likely to be available in the summer.

Yep. He's been the best manager in my lifetime. A joy to watch Sporting.

Oh well, if he is to leave I prefer it's to United.
You’re a noble chap, Sly. Very dignified of you*

*so long as you’re not smashing up your home as we speak!

From what i understand about him (not saying that i know much :)) he is playing with two no10s so he will be happy with Mount. Likes striker who has technique so Zirkzee also is safe. Plays with two dmc so Case is needed. Antony is fecked.
