Ruben Amorim - Manchester United Head Coach

So Pickford isn't better than Onana?
Branthwaite vs De Ligt
Beto vs Hojlund...

You're getting into arguing how good Dalot is to prove otherwise .

This team is dire.

If we use current trajectories to frame perspective on the quality of respective players then apply that rhetoric throughout to balance your argument.

Therefore, United clearly have the worst manager in the league by some considerable distance.

Come off it. If before we signed any of the above, you were asked which player you would want you would choose ours. Be honest. They are looking crap because of zero motivation and bad coaching.

Anyone (Amorim included) trying to downplay the importance of a formation is talking out of their hole.

This isn’t just about playing principles, 343 means we have to start 3 crap centre backs at the expense of a player in midfield, it means we have to play 2 holding DMs even though we barely have one. It means we’re either playing fullbacks who can’t attack out wide or wingers who can’t defend.

It means we have players out of position all over the park, it means promising players like Mainoo and Garnacho are suddenly looking like spare parts and were reliant on dogshite like Casemiro and Zirkzee.

The players get blamed for absolutely everything (anything to excuse Ruben) but I honestly feel sorry for them having to figure out how to make this nonsense work for a totally inflexible manager who is hanging them out to dry.

I absolutely maintain any decent manager should be able to flex their set-up and get the best out of what’s available to them, and it’s absurd that so many of our own fans let alone Ruben are happy to see us slide towards the relegation spots just so we can play one specific formation.

It’d be different if there was any hint whatsoever of things starting to click but it’s totally absent, we look dreadful and are getting worse.
Well said. Sick of seeing people say the formation doesn't matter. If it doesn't matter, then why not play a formation that's more suited to the squad?

Playing three centre backs is fecking pointless when none of them are capable of stepping up into midfield.

I cannot get my head round Maguire suddenly being back in the team despite being absolutely shite for years, then moving De Ligt to a wide CB position which is never going to suit.

I cannot get on board with the 343. Doesn’t remotely suit the squad.

I think I’ve seen enough. This job was too much for him.

Couldn't have said it better

Look at how we defended on both goals and ask yourself the same question. He's trusting these players to perform to the right standard and not embarrass the club.
Look at how we are playing and then tell if the manager is doing anything right.

Look at how Everton were under Dyche and how they are playing now. You will understand how a good manager can improve the players and the team as a whole.

Why did we even hire a manager who is making the team somehow worse than when he got them, which actually takes a lot considering where we were when he camr.

Nail. Head.

These post training sessions games have been worse than the no training sessions games. In fact, we are getting progressively worse.

What's happening? He talked a really good game.

Absolutely correct.

This is the main problem. Add Onana we have 8 defensive players.
Players who are not generally goal scorers.

We only remain with 3 attacking players. Who are extremely poor in their own skin. Then you wonder why we dont score.

Amorim is delusional as they come.
Positioning of individual players are awful. Either too wide apart hence poor passing, or too close hence hard to pass. Take the counter-attack at the 50s min, I saw 4 players rushing on the RHS about 10y apart, with the ball end up out of bound. We played like primary school boys rushing to have a great time, absolutely no formation at all.

You’d think watching this very match, with evidence of what a manager can do to improve a team, would end this fallacy

I've came to the conclusion after reading similar multiple times over the years that some people not ony seem to think a manager does very little to affect results but also that the manager can do no wrong and the players are always to blame in every scenario when shit hits the fan.

First two I would have easily had over the other 2 before signing. Beto admittedly I've only seen much of him recently but shows far more than Hojlund ever has.

Because he had those 2 good games against good sides and all will always be forgiven

This is a disaster,

I like Amorins conviction of staying true to his system, and speaking so forth rightly.

But i don't think the players can play this system, and he can't replace them all.

I'm also absolutely convinced that a 3-4-3 will not work in the premier league and this system is doomed to fail.

Because of that, i think he needs to go. I also think we can't afford (financially) to let him go now. So we are stuck with this horror show. I think we will be in relegation dog fight next season. The squad, with this system, is a squad that could be relegated..

Conte won the PL with 93 points playing a 3-4-3

Simeone is the only manager with some sort of 'aura' that will make a difference here.

Loving how anyone believe these players are better than Everton’s players
Behave, man. About four weeks ago this Everton side were headed for the drop and couldn’t buy a goal or keep a clean sheet. A new manager came in and did what managers are supposed to do

Schrodinger's Manager

Based on the eye test and results, he is comfortably the worst manager we've ever had.
Neck and neck with Ten Hag. I haven't seen anything quite as bad as the 4-0 defeat to Palace or that draw against Brentford that should have been a hammering for us. Not yet anyway.

Right now, who you taking? This same squad was equally as shit under ETH. Confidence and passion are two things we just don’t have. Can easily make the team look worse than they are, but that’s what happens when you buy a lot of square pegs for round holes instead of fixing the issues in the squad and overpaying for players, renewing contracts for a few half decent performances so on…

I’d punt most of these guys tomorrow, sure most on here would say the same.
They absolutely do not have a better squad than us. Make no mistake, our squad isn't full of world beaters but it is better than Everton's. Difference being that our style and coaching (lack of) makes us look even worse.

Great post.

We can't even switch to 4-2-3-1 anymore. Garnacho is the only winger left in the squad. We're doomed and you can't deny Amorim's contribution to it.
